R.I.P. Diet Soda?
Most WLS programs generally do not want you to drink soda anything because of the carbonation. Some have tried making their sodas go flat, but why bother? It is a good habit to get out of if you want to and/or are able to post sleeve. There are a lot of good flavors you can mix with Water by a lot of different companies. Apple cider Is also good. I personally could not drink even bottled water plain until about 5 months out. It just tasted weird and metallic no matter what kind I tried. My favorite mix in flavor has been Desani drops pineapple coconut flavor. Mio and crystal light leave an after taste that does not appeal to me after drinking it all day. Hope this helps even though I am not an advocate of drinking diet soda any longer ( stopped drinking diet soda about a year before surgery).

what is your favorite snack post op
Yes, I gel the seeds for 30 minutes or they are not helpful for me from experience. What usually works for me is that I gel them in Water while I am working through 32 oz of water in the morning while taking most of my daily supplements. After 30 minutes, I shake in my Protein shake for my first meal. This is at 6 am so works really well because the extra water before drinking the shake will make sure you do not dehydrate on the seeds. I drink before instead of after the seeds in order to keep them in my stomach longer ( stop drinking about 10 minutes before shake). I add 2 tbsp of seeds to about 8 oz of water. I repeat this for my last meal of the day, usually at 9 pm. Find a Protein Shake that works for you if you are going to take them as often as I do for the long haul. I happen to like Syntrax matrix Cookies and creme ( extended release so keeps you "full" longer) in addition to GNC amplified Wheybolic 60 cookies and creme ( for run recovery).

Yeah, I saw those there and thought " hmm, interesting." I am a big chia seed fan with my morning shake. Helps me be regular and with providing extra stored Water during my long runs. Highly recommend them. So I continued to snoop arounds nuts.com and then I fund chocolate covered popcorn. Danger zone! Danger zone! I have to now brainwash myself so I forget those are there even though I do order the energy squares now for running longer then 30 minutes (5k for me). One of those is perfect for giving me the energy to go from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and complete a 10k.

- Panera Hidden Menu is Protein WOW
They do now according to the New Year announcement. I hope other chains decide to follow this trend and ditch the burgers and fried stuff. Except red robin and Blazin Onion ( local in WA). They have a special place in my heart.- IS IT TRUE AFTER 6 MONTHS

- Sleeve holds too much food
Good job at eating every 3 hours. It keeps hunger at bay and, I believe, is a good way to keep the BMR in optimal shape during waking hours. No insulin crashes either. Ever.- what is your favorite snack post op
- Great New Fitness App........
Wow, this is such a cool app. I might even pay for the subscription. The only problem is that it is hard to see on my DROID phone when working out. I will try it out on my iPad and see if that is better. I like that it has animations in real time, including time for rest. I suppose you can get that from a DVD, but this is so much more expansive in the types of workouts. This will really help newbies like myself become better at working out. Thanks!- Sleeve holds too much food
Thanks Iggy. I did not want to give up my 2 egg scramble with feta cheese, dill and fourS penzy spice. Two turkey links on the side. Yum!- Sleeve holds too much food
Yes, why not? I have scrambled eggs a couple times a week.- Sleeve holds too much food
I started to get the full feeling after starting on solids. It used to be that little burps were my signal that I should stop ( and there were many times when I did not stop and slimed or got pain). However, I learned over the months that even stopping at the burps is too late. I now get a feeling or sigh which is a sense of satisfying hunger. This is the true signal to develop a sense for, but it did take me months of trial and error before honing in on it. Best of luck!- WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU
- IS IT TRUE AFTER 6 MONTHS
I believe it is true, but only if you continue to let the sleeve do the heavy lifting. If you dedicate yourself to a solid exercise plan and continue to eat healthy, I think you can probably keep up the weight loss to your end goal. The problem that occurs at six months is generally people can eat like they did pre sleeve albeit smaller portions. A lot of folks relax their eating and, if they are not careful, will significantly slow down their weight loss. This is only from my reading so I do not have any actual anecdotal or empirical evidence to back up these statements. And of course everyone is different in terms of metabolism, etc. If you wish to keep losing at a significant clip, my advice is to get or stay active and watch your nutritional diet as your sleeve may not help you as much.- WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU
- Going to "zumba" for the first time...
My wife and I love Zumba for Wii! She is awesome at it because Latin dancing is in her blood (even though she is Scandinavian). Me, I just try my best but look silly. We bought a groupon deal for couples zumba dancing. After the New year resolution people clear out, it should make for a pretty good set of date nights.- Valentines Day Challenge!
Valentines day is my 7.5 month anniversary from surgery. It has been an incredible journey. I do not really weigh myself much any more, maybe once every couple weeks. I am at 185 lb now and would like to hit 175 lb. Probably will take until St Patricks day, but we shall see.- Can this be possible?!
21# in one week. That is amazing!- Popcorn?
I get tempted every now and then to eat some popcorn when at the movies. Then I think about what is actually in the "butter" and change my mind. I used to be the biggest popcorn eater pre sleeve. I liked movie popcorn, caramel popcorn, apple/caramel popcorn, moose munch, white cheddar popcorn, etc. It was my #1 favorite snack. I was such an addict. I do not eat popcorn post sleeve because I know it would probably be dangerous for me. - Bad breath?
