    Hey Everyone

I was "banded" the 30th June and everyone in the June forum is going on about a one month anniversary- so I figured I'd join the "Julypians"... Like Olympians... Get it? Anyway- its been 5 days since surgery, I'm from Perth, Western Australia. I had a good surgeon but am feeling what others seem to describe as "stuck" where food is just not going down so I am going from puréed foods back to liquids tomorrow. I've already lost 3kg and recommend to anyone who is getting "the blues" like I did today to hop on the scales for some confirmation that you've made the right decision. Anyway- I'm looking for some regular email contact with someone here who is sharing the same journey. I haven't told my friends about the surgery- just my parents. So an really lacking in support and encouragement. Anyway- best of luck to everyone for your upcoming surgery and please let me know if you would be my buddy through this exciting and scary journey. Emma xx

    Rockingham/Mandurah support group?

I was banded 30/06/12 and live in Wanneroo. There is a group on Facebook called "Perth Gastric Bandits" it's got about 60 members and is really good. I just joined the other day. They meet socially too

  8. Hi everyone, I'm brand new here- just googling to find some answers and stumbled into here. I need some advice- I had my surgery 5 days ago (June 30th) and am miserable. I can't find anything to eat that I want to AND can eat! The first 2 days I had Soups and broths and some puréed fruit. Day 3 I had mashed potato and mushy peas to get some veges (mushy peas was NOT nice) and the last night I thought I could make a shepherds pie to get some meat and veg but have felt AWFUL ever since. Did I go too strong too quick? My surgeon was Dr Kierath in Perth, WA and I can't get him to answer the phone to answer my questions. I'm also really emotional and feel "clogged" not constipated but as if food just isn't digesting at all and is stuck in my oesaphagus- is this normal?? My mum bought me custard and milo puddings but I think that's pretty unhealthy so not sure if I should eat it? Please someone help me- I don't know what to eat, I'm getting blood spotting on my knickers and one of my incisions (where I think the pouch bit is) is opening a little. Thankyou- from a desperate, miserable girl! Please someone help me- whetnot?

Thanks guys 1. No he truly gave me nothing. No paperwork except for nurses instructions on the bandages. 2. I am only on liquids! Have been ever since my first post when I realised I was doing it wrong. Maybe I drank too fast. 3. No there is no email address. I'll keep trying to call on Monday. 4. Not sure if the photo loaded properly but it doesn't look like hand marks from moving- plus I moved from bed to bed on my own. 5. Yes I finally found a WA support group on Facebook- I can now see if they know more about my surgeon!!

Hi again, Thanks for all your help. I still can't get a hold of my surgeon so I went to the GP who said that it is very unlikely the band has slipped as I would have noticed the difference. 2 of my incisions are infected, and I have a massive bruise on my left wrist (and no the IV wasn't there) that has been steadily getting worse everyday- anyone else get this or know what it is? It's been 8 days since surgery. I'm on antibiotics for the incisions. Also this morning after breakfast my mouth filled with saliva and I was gagging but couldn't throw up anything. Is this normal? Thanks again everyone x Emma

Thanks guys- it's 1am here and now I think I can sleep (for now ignoring the last post). I will do everything right from now on (now that I know!!!) And lastly- its a normal day here in Australia, so don't think it being Independence Day in the US has anything to do with my surgeon not answering his phone Thanks again everyone, I'll go see my GP to check if the band has slipped and will start the clear fluid progression tomorrow. This has been an emotional 4 hours, but I'm finally calm (again ignoring the last post). You have no idea how much you all have helped me this evening. I'm not going anywhere else- you guys are my new support. Xx Emma

No doctor told me nothing. Will what I have eaten cause problems? Is it irreversible?!! Or do I just go on eating what you have suggested and I'll be fine?

    Despetate Newbie

Ok I just have one more question (for now) Have I done serious damage by unknowingly and accidentally eating the wrong food (shepherds pie)? And if so, what the hell do I do??!!! Feeling slightly panicked right now!!

Wow thanks so much everyone! As for all the "read your paperwork" suggestions- I was given NOTHING. Zero. That's why I called the surgeon but there's no answer or message machine, and then came on here. As for the rest of the responses- THANK YOU!! Now I know to really slow down, and will.
