  1. Had my upper GI endoscopy today.. They found gastritis, probably from the H Pylori. The biopsy will be done by next Tuesday. I never would have known. Like that activia commercial, I just thought it was my normal!
  2. Oh yeah, seems everyone wants their co-pays ahead of time. Hospital bills, because they want to make sure of the reimbursement, and stuff happens which could prolong your stay.
  3. Outpatient? lucky. I have to stay in 2 days, that's 300.. Also basic states only one 150 copay to surgeon, everyone else is covered
  4. Great! Did you do the 3 nutrition visits?
  5. I have fed bcbs how long did your approval take after submission?
  6. Upper GI was ordered before the positive h pylori. I don't recall any recent illness, i may have had this for a long time. I am a nurse and know a lot about this. One thing that irked me, my drs office called in for a PrevPac instead of ordering each medication seperately and in generic form. This PrevPac was OVER 500 dollars and my insurance would only cover about half. I refused it and will demand that it be ordered seperately and generically. If it was ordered as amoxicillin, metronidazole and prevacid otc, it would cost me less than 50 bucks. That's nuts. i am pretty mad.
  7. Ust gojt my labs back. i have H Pylori! I never would have guessed. So 2 weeks of antibiotics and that's it. Luckily I cant finish my requirements until Sept 6 with my last Nutrition visit. Lets hope my Upper GI endoscopy goes well tomorrow.
  8. Well, if we do, we can start a new topic. Sleeve-smackers...LOL!!!
  9. I have bcbs fed. How long has hubby been waiting?
  10. I was serious, and I too get irked with the smacking. Old men (i see a lot of geriatric patiemts) love to smack, makes me crazy!!! Hope it doesn't happen to me!
  11. Oooohkaaay. Will have to dial down the radar a few notches. I thought it might have to do with not being able to swallow normally due to decrease stomach size.
  12. Have been watching a lot of youtube video blogs and notice a lot of people do a lot of lip smacking, as if to kswallow saliva between sentences, subtle, but I noticed. A little disturbing. Am I imagining this?
  13. Depends on your insurance, and doctor Surgeon requirements: Labs, Ekg Upper endoscopy Insurance: Letter of medical necessity from the pcp 3 monthly appointments with a nutritionist Psych eval Had the Nut visit, the Psych visit, had labs, and ekg my PCP sent the letter of necessity, I am having upper endoscopy on Thursday. Now i have 2 more Nutritionist visits one in august 6 and the other sept 6 i should be ready to go at that point.
  14. An interesting point was brought up in another thread. How do you deal with the emotions of being skinny when you see someone that looks like you used to? I know most will have outward empathy, of course, but is there some part of you afraid to face the mirror of the past? My response was this I am going through something like that now. Although I haven't been sleeved yet, I most definitely plan to do so, barring some blip in the universe that prevents me from doing so. I feel like an evangelist,I see other overweight people and think to myself , why don't they have WLS. I want to go over and tell them of the great opportunity. Then I slap myself into reality. I am not a fan of evangelism. To each his own, I say. My decision is my own, not everyone I know would agree with it (if I even told them). So how would I feel about my obese brothers and sisters, after the weight loss. The way I feel about those I have worked with as a nurse over the years...the poor, the disenfranchised, the sick, the homeless. I don't feel sorry for them, I want to help, or at least support them because, in the end, There but for the grace of God, go I.
  15. It stinks that your ins changed close to the finish line. It stinks your provider was uncooperative. The minute my doc told me she wouldn't recommend me unless I weighed 400 pounds, i told her the pain I have now, at 400 pounds I will be bed bound. I fired her butt and found a doctor who sent the letter second time I saw him.. It is a journey we all must take to realize the effort was well worth it, in the end.
  16. What happened that made it take so long? I am very sorry. We shouldnt have to go through so many hoops.

  18. Thanks guys! Taking a deep breath and focusing on the prize...my health and self esteem! We can do this!
  19. Just feeling pretty down and discouraged. Impatient, like maybe it will never happen, and I will never feel good about myself again.
  20. RN here. 33 years. Work for the Feds, so I have another 2 months of nutrition before my date. Good luck tomorrow. Keep us nurses informed! I will say a prayer to St Catherine (patron st of nurses) for you. Positive thoughts your way.
