  1. Shopping in "real" stores.....

Hi....I just wanted to share. I went shopping yesterday and for the first time in YEARS, I was able to walk into most any store and try things on and......shop! For a long time now I have gone with friends and family shopping and found it pretty boring or I would just be helping them pick things out....reason??? Nothing would fit me in the stores that they shopped in. This may turn me into a shopping monster....it was soooooo much fun! I now have a few pairs of pants from Ann Taylor and a few tops from The Loft. Just had to share this exciting new adventure.....thanks for listening.
  2. Loose stools (sorry)

I am one week post op. I started my full liquids monday and by Wed I had so many loose stools....like 10 that day. I had started some milk on Tuesday. I have always tolerated milk before. I used soy milk today and I think thinkgs are slowing down. Has anyone else had problems with this. I had read quite a few post that have the oposite problem.
  3. Extended leak time frame?

Hi...I had my final surgeon visit yesterday and was kind of floored when he mentiioned that with the sleeve you could have a leak in one week, one month or all the way to six months. Has anyone else heard this and has it happened to anyone?
  4. Post op two days

Hi all. Well I had my surgery two days ago. I came home last night. I feel so much better today than I did on the day of surgery. I hope it continues to improve at this rate. Right now I am still on clear liquids. Monday I can start full liquids. It seems like I have taken very little in but yet I am not dehydrated. Two ounces of jello and a sugar free popsicle. Also water and some juice. I want to be so careful not to develop a leak. Right now sometimes I get a gurgly feeling when I drink. Do we always have this or is that something that subsides with time?
  5. FLU

I am freaking out. Only eleven days to surgery...I have the flu. Been fighting it for one week...it HAS to go away soon. I really don't want them to cancel my surgery or postpone it.
  6. Aproved!

OMG!! I received approval from my insurance today!! I am sooo happy. I was in such a slump...this has been such a roller coaster so far. After being denied by BCBS of IL a few weeks ago (said I needed more documentation for my two co morbidities) I went back to my primary MD, had more labs done and resubmitted. I called the insurance yesterday and was told it was denied again because there wasn't anything new submitted. I very nicely started to ask questions about the new info we had sent...hight cholesteral, started on new med, etc. She had not seen that and started to look thru my submission again. She agreed to send an email to the doctor that decides. Today I received a call from her and the new information was enough to get it approved for the vertical sleeve. I am so happy. This just goes to prove what everyone else has said...keep trying. Surgery date won't be till around 1/13.
  7. Insurance Denied Surgery

Hi...I am so disappointed today. My insurance (BCBS of IL) denied my surgery request. They said that the reason was that my hypertension and hi cholesteral were missing the documentation that those conditions have been treated with agressive medical management and still were not stable.
I am waiting for a call from the insurance coordinator at the surgeons office to see if we can appeal.

I have been preparing for this both mentally and physically since May and now this....I did not have a plan B.
Somehow I knew this was too good to be true.
  8. Psych Appoint

I had my psych appointment today...one more thing checked off. It was a good appointment and I was given some very good advice for long term success. Should be getting submitted to insurance very soon!!! I hope it gets approved. I also attended my first support group tonight. So many helpful people. I love to hear everyones stories.
  9. Things Moving Slow

Do any other pre sleevies feel like things move slow to get thru the process. I had my first stop class one week ago and have been waiting for the call to have my psych appointment......no call yet. I have a three week periodoff of work starting at the end of November and I am really hoping that everything will be in place by then. Please give me patience!
  10. Psych Appoint Set Up

Yea....finally got my appointment date for my psych eval. October 9th....then all can be submitted to the insurance. It feels like things are moving so slow. I am anxious to get the approval.
  11. One Step Closer!

I attended my first step class this week and am one step closer!
My next step is my psych appointment which I am patiently waiting for a call to schedule!
I did learn a lot of good useful information at the class....a lot more detail about what is to
come and what to expect...including diet, protein and fluids.
  12. Here I Go!

Here I go!! Finally getting to learn a few things. I started this process the end of May, going to my first informational meeting. After having a month delay in getting started doing anything (because of switching insurances) I am finally getting thru my pre op steps. Tonight I have my "First Step " class to go over more details and learn about all the particulars of surgery and life after. I read on this site every few days and get so much encouragement from everyone. I am only one step away from having my case sent off to insurance to get final approval. I have started to change my eating habits and excercise. I am sooooo ready to get moving! Yea!!! Lets go!
