  1. Been there with nsa apple juice. It had so much freaking sugar it upset my stomach for 3 days. After that, I did 50/50 Water & juice. Juice still tasted good & did not upset my stomach. It's funny how some people can tolerate things others can't & vice-versa. It's all a learning process for all of us. Hope you find a Protein Drink that works for you.
  2. Sorry you're having so many problems. Keep your chin up because it will get better. For some it just takes longer. Some drinks I was okay with before surgery just don't taste right to me after surgery. I decided to try the premier high Protein vanilla premade shake (got it at Sam's Club) and it actually tastes good. You might want to try that if you can. They also have chocolate flavor. Only 160 cals, 30g protein, low carb, low fat. Not to expensive. It's around $19 for a case of 12. If you can tolerate those & get 2 in you a day then you'll be getting at least 60g protein & that will help with healing. We're all here for you. Update us on how things are going.
  3. Hey butterflylegacy, I just followed you on pinterest. I'm JM Langhammer. I see you're in Mansfield .. I live in SW Arlington so we're kinda neighbors. And like many of you, I've only told a few select people, so I have my nom nom nom board which has a lot of bad food porn lol but I'm planning on making a kick the carbs board too for the healthy stuff.
  4. It's a bread product. They have ones called sandwich thins, both pieces combined are around 100 cals. There are also bagelthins which are way smaller than regular bagels and also around 100 cals. You can find them on the bread product aisle at the store
  5. Just take it 1 day at a time. I had times of doubt too, even up to the day before my surgery. Mainly it was because my dad was extremely worried due to my aunt's problems with her sleeve the year before ( she had many co-morbidities which contributed to her initial problems but she's fine now). I knew I wasn't gonna change my mind but I was worried if it was gonna cause problems between me & my dad in the long run. He's being more supportive now that he sees I'm doing good. So just take it one day at a time, one step at a time and try not to stress over the little things. Sometimes you just have to zone out and go to your happy place to de-stress.
  6. The paperwork my doc gave me also says only take 500mg at a time. Right now they only recommend for me to do 1000mg of calcium citrate a day, so I eat 2 chewables (250mg each tab) and set my timer on my phone to go off 2 hours later and take the other 2 tabs. I'm guessing if I need the 1500mg/day they'll let me know after they do blood work. And just remember to not take iron or calcium within 2 hours of each other. They each block the absorption of the other.
  7. I bought liquid ones before my surgery that tasted perfectly fine. Post-op I couldnt taken them cos they gave me horrible indigestion. I switched to a chewable multi from Trader Joe's and I use B12 with folic acid liquid under the tongue from Vitamin Shoppe, raspberry flavour is actually okay. I got chewable calcium citrate at vitamin shoppe that's okay too but I can start them until next week (2 weeks post-op)
  8. Have you tried any of the turkey sausage links? I know wal-mart carries them in different flavors and they have lower fat than beef or pork. I'm only 9 days post-op and was sad that I couldn't have a Hebrew national grilled hot dog w/saur kraute & spicy mustard for 4th of July. lol looking forward to when I can
  9. I had my surgery at Forest Park with Dr Frenzel 9 days ago. Great facility and they'll take good care of you. Don't get frustrated with yourself on bad days. We all have them. You just tell yourself tomorrow is a new day. I had several days during my 2 week Pre-op diet that I ended up eating the Hershey almond pieces but I had much better control than in the past. Instead of eating the whole bag, I just had a few. It does get better & all of us are here to support one another.
  10. When I started thinking about WLS, I was considering all options. I wasn't big enough for bi-pass so I was considering lap band or sleeve. I decided on the sleeve after seeing the complications of people I knew had lap bands. My friend's lap band eroded her stomach after 3-4 yrs and had to be removed. She ended up being horribly sick with infections for like a year before fully healing/recovering from it being removed. She ended up getting sleeved last September and said she wished the sleeve had been around when she got the lap band cos the sleeve is way better. I also have an uncle & aunt who have lap bands. They basically never lost any weight and had trouble eating without feeling sick.
  11. My friend who is almost 1 year post-op uses the hungry girl flat bread to make her own homemade pizzas. Once I'm allowed more foods, I'm gonna have to try those. I'm gonna ask my doc about the bagel thins aty follow up next week, cos I love the everything ones toasted with one wedge of laughing cow soft cheese spread on top. Of course I know that I won't be able to eat the whole thing but I can make one & cut up in small pieces & save the leftovers for later.
  12. lol "eating" should be "wanting"
  13. I'm also having a problem with eating to gulp ice water cos I feel so thirsty ... And being in Texas with 110 degree weather doesn't help. I've had to force myself to do little sips & I avoid going outside in the heat if possible. I did a big gulp of cold water the other day and I was like ow ow ow until I burped lol
  14. I had the pain ball in my left side after surgery. It wasn't painful at all but then again it was pumping pain meds into my incision area of the sleeve for 2 days. Mine actually came loose and started leaking so they removed it since I was being discharged in 2 hours anyways. Don't stress yourself out over it. I know it seems overwhelming now but it gets better. I'm post op day 9 and my incisions are healing well including the 2 small ones where the pain ball tubes were inserted.
  15. My diet plan allows mashed sweet potatoes starting day 21.
  16. I'm POD 6 today. I had those problems the day of my surgery & day 1PO. Once I was allowed to start drinking after leak test came back fine it got better. Day 2 I struggled to drink 28oz of isopure zero. But each day has gotten better. Walking does help with the gas pains. Don't force yourself to burp cos you might barf but if you feel like burping let it out. My nurse also suggested gas-x chewable. I used those the first 2 days home and no longer having to use them. Another way I help myself with fluids is to get my isopure in one cup, another cup of ice water and I might do another cup of hot herbal tea or cold propel zero. I just take little sips and alternate through the diff drinks I've set out for myself until they're gone.
  17. I'm actually doing well. I'm looking forward to Thursday when I can start having Soups & yogurt lol. Cos I'm getting tired of Isopure after 3 weeks I was watching spongebob last night and ended up dreaming about crab cakes & fried pickles & fried oyster poboys from fish city grill last night lol
  18. I alternate between Isopure zero (40g Protein in 20oz bottle) and making the chocolate premiere Protein shake (16oz of skim milk & 1 scoop of protein powder). You can get isopure zero at Vitamin shoppe or GNC and premiere protein whey powder protein is at Walmart or Sam's club.
  19. And just remember if your drinking protein shakes those have water & count towards your 64oz of fluid. I drink a couple of 20oz isopure zeros which is 40oz right there. So then I need to get 24oz more for the day. Anything over that is bonus.
  20. I was sleeved on 6/27 & had horrible n/v (mainly dry heaves cos of nothing to eat since night before). I also had horrible withdraw from not being able to take my antidepressant for 33 hours. Was not fun. After my leak test, they said I couldn't go home unless I was walking & drinking. So I started doing both cos I did not sleep well in the hospital at all. I got to go home on 6-28 and have been slowly increasing my intake. First day was tough. Took all day to drink 28oz of isopure while also sipping water. My doc said to take the multivitamin & B12 w/folic acid as soon as I got home & started having my liquid proteins. They did say wait 2 weeks to start with the calcium citrate. I also have the super glue on my stitches and they're slowly starting to come off. I'm leaving them alone & letting them do their own thing. I do have 2 big nasty bruises on a couple of them & a giant bruise on my upper left arm. The stomach ones are prolly from blood thinners and the arm one is prolly from them lifting me onto and off OR table. I passed out on the way to OR lol
  21. So glad for you! I'm only 5 days post-op but I don't regret it one bit. My dad was worried to death cos of my auntie's problems last year with her sleeve but he's chilled out now that I'm doing fine. Day of surgery was horrible cos of n/v. I told him I didn't take this lightly. I had been thinking about WLS for over a year before I decided to actually do something about it. Keep us updated on how you're doing!
  22. I would definitely discuss that with your surgeon before surgery. Plus you should have a pain management person at the hospital, or at least I did. She was the PA for the overnight internist who gave me meds for high BP & anti nausea patch. The PA talked to me 3-4 times before discharge about how my pain levels were & how controlled they were, etc. that's when they decided they send me with liquid lortab since I was on IV dilaudid while in hospital. If you let your surgeon know beforehand about what has & hasnt worked for your FM pain in the past, they'll should take that in consideration & try to get the best pain med that will hopefully work for.
