  1. I ate things pre op that I knew I wouldn't have for a long time -like crusty bread- sweets-steak and I'm glad I did. I thought it was wrong at the time but it was okay. I wish I had investigated protein drinks ahead of time though - that would have helped. Great site is eggface - she has great ideas for post op diet. Goodluck
  2. Congratulations. Don't look back and beat yourself up. You were doing the best you could. When I read your post I thought...wow I could see myself doing that too but then thought -all that negative energy for what? You're courageous and have done so much for yourself. Look forward you have so much to be proud of.
  3. Ive been crushing and wondering if it is taking away effectiveness. My MD ordered liquid version of med but they don't make it anymore and pharmacists told me to crush it.
  4. I'm 4 days post op and the same thing happens if my sips are too large. My surgeon told me about this so I don't worry but I try to avoid by sipping less buy more often.
  5. Also I had the leak test in radiology several hours after surgery. That was fine - no big deal. Took sips of this clear liquid while i was tilted up on table. They put the xray machine right over my abdomen took several pictures and that was it. Don't stress about this test. I asked for some water after so I could rinse the taste from my mouth.
  6. Had my surgery om the 27th. Came home last evening I had a morphine pump . The gas pain was bad in the recovery room but it passed. Now i get intermittent gas pain that really hurts but it passes quickly. I have been on clear liquids since the 26th and I am still at my preop weight. Thought I would have lost several pounds at least. I think the worst part is before the operation - just so anxious before they took me into O.R. they have a special OR table. And they tilt it forward as the operation is done in that position. I remember they talking to me and joking around to be nice and then I woke up.in the recovery room. It was amazing. And the nurses were so kind. Time flies and I am now home and so relieved this is behind me. I'm on clears for one week. I think being on clears preop and now tor this week is the wordy part. I'm not really hungry buy I would really like a meal Good luck to all who are going soon. It will be done before you know it.
  7. I'm tomorrow too. I was very anxious yesterday but feel calm right now. When I think about risks I try to remind myself of all the risks that I have being overweight. Also thinking long term - how fabulous will next year be! I haven't been a healthy wt in 25 years - Iand its hard to even picture myself thin. I have to say also I don't feel excited about this like so many preop posts say- feel this huge unknown in front of me but reading success stories has kept me going. There is only one way to go and I want out of this overweight prison. Good luck tomorrow I will keep you in my prayers.
  8. Wow amazing how the weight hides our faces. Congratulations.

  12. Everytime I learn of a restriction - like no caffeine or carbonates beverages it took me a couple days to accept it and then it seemed okay when I realized everything I would gain- a new life. You will get through the Holidays as there is much going on besides food. I am scheduled for surgery in 9 days and know this Thanksgiving/Christmas will be different and I am so thankful. Just try to focusing on the long term gains- that really helps me take each step in this journey.
  13. I'm the 27th too. My doc says 1 night in hospital and only clear liquids day before surgery. Good luck to everyone. Thank you to all on this forum. I would not have the courage without you all.
  14. Awesome information and shared with compassion. Thank you!
