  1. Mine and many others on here was two weeks of optifast. If not that something probably low carb with a lot of liquids. Good luck !
  2. So good to hear that you are doing much better, Julia! You are a strong person!
  3. I know, same here! I am doing well so far! Surgeon seems to think I am okay now , just need to be extra careful not to eat anything too solid or too much since the area where the leak was is still so weak and could be reopened if I overdue it . How about you ? And what exactly is a claw and how did that work out for you ? I can totally relate to that feeling of a scratched up throat .... Ouch! I had an ng tube too for about 24 hours and felt like I was constantly choking on it , I was gagging on it so bad the doctor just took it out because I couldn't even catch my breath in between dry heaves from it . I am sure you had it much longer and definitely feel for you!
  4. Thanks, purplicious! Update: Once the stents came out after almost four weeks of being in, I felt so much better other than the monster sore throat and esophagus for about a week. I am now on mushies and am doing so much better. Those stents were absolutely miserable , but they saved my life so I am glad that I had them now.
  5. Dont be scared ! You'll do great. The anesthesiologist will come to talk to you before surgery and you can ask any questions. They are usually very good about calming people's fears since it is very common to be afraid. And dot worry , they will give you some tranquilizing drugs before you even get to the operating room to calm you down ... You won't be scared by the time the moment comes to actually put you under anymore
  6. Same thing happened to me. I got a full blown cold the night before surgery. I thought they would turn me away once I got to the operating room the next morning... Nope! They said since I didn't have a fever it was up to me . I figured since I was already there I would just go for it. Everything went fine with the anesthesia. However... Even though I followed all the food rules I did end up back in the hospital 2 weeks later with a leak and abscess. I'm sure this was totally unrelated, but sometimes I wonder since none of the doctors could tell me what caused the leak. But I am probably just grasping at straws trying to figure out "why me?" I'll probably never know Anyway, Sorry if I scared you! Just rambling on late at night. I am sure that everything will go fine . Definitely be sure to talk to your anesthesiologist! I hope you feel better! Good luck!!
  7. I would think just watch the temperature of it. Whey protein is denatured at temps over 130-140 degrees F.
  8. I was on Prozac, i did gain weight on it, but i blame myself and not the pills. when I asked my doctor about anti depressants and weight gain I was told Paxil tends to make people gain the most weight and Wellbutrin tends to make people lose weight. Prozac can go either way.
  9. When you get home from the hospital , a wedge pillow is really useful !
  10. I had a leak and my main symptom was a fever . before being admitted to the hospital and things got really bad it would range from 99 to 102. I have also had pains since and have freaked myself out that it may be happening again BUT i was told that if i don't have a fever it is probably just normal healing pains. So far, so good .just keep an eye on your temperature and even if it is low grade , go get it checked out ! I'm sure you are okay though ! Just watch for a fever please, even if it is low grade!
  11. Look at those loose pants ! You look amazing !
  12. Yeah there seems to be a lot of opinions on this unfortunately !
  13. Dr. Nain in Woodbridge, VA. I don't think he's necessarily a bad surgeon or anything, he said he has done over 150 sleeves with no problem... He even said that he thought i would have been an easy case since I was young , healthy and relatively thinner than a lot of his patients. I guess the 1% statistic landed on me unfortunately. I will say this , I was disappointed that he went on vacation for a week after my leak was discovered and while I was in the hospital. He said he would still be in the area and would be stopping by but never did. My care was then left to a variety of other doctors in the hospital that didn't seem to communicate well with each other. He also didn't show up on my discharge date from having my stents removed. I think he is still a decent surgeon and I understand things just go wrong sometimes but the stuff he did that I mentioned above just isn't cool to me.
  14. I was told that the pill is fine and that we still absorb it . I will be continuing taking Yasmin in a couple weeks . Just had to go off for a month after surgery since they can contribute to blood clot issues .
  15. I am so sorry to hear this. I can relate , I spent a month in the hospital from a leak and am now at home recovering. Like you, I am so grateful for family. I honestly think if all of my care was left up to healthcare staff I wouldn't be alive right now. Thank God for family !! You are in my prayers!
  16. Thanks guys ! I will check those out and keep you posted ! I love all the support around here . You guys are the best ! Oh and I totally understand that scratching feeling ! Ouch !!
  17. Stents are out ! Throat is raw from them being pulled , but all in all I feel a lot better without them. The area where the leak was is sealed but is very thin and delicate so I will be on clear liquids for a while . Doctors said that my body needs protein to heal , I will be starting on the isopure today . I have heard that it is gross , but wish me luck! I just want to be healthy again ! If anyone has a leak and needs someone to talk to about it I am 100% here for you ! It is the hardest thing I have physically been through and it is. Very emotionally Trying. Don't hesitate to message me !
  18. Thanks everyone , all prayers and good thoughts are so greatly appreciated! The stent is coming out this wednesday! I'm hoping all this misery I feel will be relieved .
