1. You'll be great! The worst part is the waiting Do try to sleep - you're going to need your energy!! I had to check in at 6:30am... and my hospital was a 1.5 hour drive! Having to get up at 4:30, I went to bed at about 8... thank I finally managed to zonk out at around 10:30
2. Finally! Lol - just a little something that proves to me I didn't just dream up this whole thing... =P Finished off a Protein shake (hearty one - with milk, banana, and pb blended in) a little too quickly, and have had a very distinctly uncomfortable *full* feeling for the past 5 minutes or so. Reminds me of post-thanksgiving dinner where you need to go lay down, and are kind of half contemplating whether you should try to vomit. Where you wonder "How the hell could I let myself eat that much??" Well, now I know what it feels like with the pouch! It's already passing, but it's a good reminder that slow and steady... and that it SUCKS to feel overfull!
3. This is SO incredible. Huge, huge kudos to you, and thank you for such amazing inspiration!
4. I keep waiting for the ball to drop, lol - I had my RNY on Wednesday 8/29, so I am now 4 days out. Surgery went easy as pie, and the nurses on the Bariatric unit even kept saying they couldn't believe how great I looked - one even made a "speed demon" comment about my laps around the unit =P I have had no nausea, very very minimal pain, pretty good energy- (I sat through 6 hours of vocal rehearsal today for the show I am stage managing!) Only the slightest twinge in my one medium-sized incision when I sit up in bed, and I've been able to sleep on my sides since I came home 2 days post-op, and can also lay on my stomach. Only on liquids so far, but have not had any issues there whatsoever - hot, cold, ice pops, tea, crystal light, Water - tolerating all just fine, no discomfort, and no problems getting in my recommended amounts. It CAN'T be this easy!! I'm getting nervous now that something's going to go haywire...
5. I drove 2 days after surgery...But I seem to be having significantly less pain than most people!
6. I can't wait to see my inciscions =P I am only 3 days post-op, so they are still dressed. They'll come off on Thursday! I know the way I usually heal - and I had a large incision from spine surgery 3 years ago, as well - they will probably be pink for a few months, and then fade down even more. All my other scars end up fading down to white, and are pretty flat as well. As soon as I'm allowed, I will be rubbing, you can bet! I am a huge fan of cocoa butter lotion - and the extra moisture for the skin will hopefully help out with sagging =P I have also used Scar Fade, and I think that helps as well.
7. My first Friday weigh-in! I've been waiting for this for 3 months, lol Highest weight (4/2012): 290 Presurgical: 262 Current: 259 Surgery was only this Wednesday
8. Hope you feel better! My surgery was Wednesday as well - since then, I've make sure to get up and walk around for 10-15 minutes every couple of hours, now that I'm home even going in circles around the house. I'm also finding that ice chips are working really well at getting my Water in - I'm just keeping a cupful with me and constantly sucking on them.
9. Thanks, guys! I actually slept my entire 2nd night ~ 12midnight to 8 ~ and was just cleared by the doctor to go home! I've had no nausea at all, no problem getting my Water down (3oz/hr), been passing the air above and below, and been up walking like a champ. He said I'm doing absolutely great! Now I get to go home, add tea, crystal light, and ice pops in... and SHOWER! (Think I'm looking forward to that most of all!)
10. Feeling pretty good! Gas pain is starting to subside, thank goodness ~ I slept on and off during the night, sipping and walking when I wasn't sleeping The ice chips and Water definitely taste wonderful, but I'm very much looking forward to my Protein shakes on Monday, lol
11. I have 6 - 5 small and 1 medium
12. Thumbs-up, with surgery hair!
13. It's done!! Surgery went well, no complications ~ spent about 2 hours in recovery, and have been in my room now about 3 and a half. Have been diligently taking in my ice chips and water sips ~ 1oz at a time over 20 minutes. Definitely not as hard as I had thought it would be! Feeling pretty good ~ much better than I had prepared for!

15. Oy... what a long week it's been so far, and being that tomorrow's my big day, it'll only be longer! Trying to reassure myself that I'm not crazy for doing this, and that it's too late to back out. Only one day of liquids & no food and I'm already feeling like shit ~ can't even imagine how I'll be at the end of the week.

Last time I wore this dress, I looked about 6 months pregnant... today, there's just a bit of muffin-top! = )
17. Thanks, everyone! So excited... been 4 long months in the works, and now just *weeks*! Tami ~ yay, congrats! Nice to have a surgiversary buddy!
18. Just had my surgical consult... August 29th!!
19. If it's just a regular clearance appointment, they should just do a history, regular sort of exam, and EKG (just stickies w/ words on your torso - takes longer to put them all on than to capture the actual EKG!) It's a Stress Test where they throw you on the treadmill... which is why I have a note for myself to remember some gym clothes & sneakers to change into when I leave the office for mine tomorrow =P
20. So I went for my initial cardiac clearance almost 2 weeks ago, and even though everything looked good & I haven't had any problems ~ because of family history, this cardiologist wants me to do an echocardiogram and a stress test before he'll give me clearance. I'm think I'm nervous because I'm afraid they're going to find some random silent heart problem ~ which I know would be a GOOD thing if they did find it before it caused any trouble, lol ~ but still, it would just be another thing, you know? But on the positive side, I am more than fine to run on a treadmill and Thursday is my surgery consult ~ so we'll be setting a date in anticipation of my cardiac clearance coming in
21. I actually am *in* Hyde Park, lol ~ but I said Poughkeepsie 'cause more people have heard of it!
22. Poughkeepsie, NY ~ surgery will be with Dr. Wayne Weiss of Tri-State Bariatrics, at the Bon Secours CH Bariatric Surgery Center in Port Jervis.
23. I have a bit of booty, which I would definitely not mind keeping! Pre-op, in an 18/20 right now. I think dreamland would be about a 10, but I'm not even sure if my big bones will fit there - I'll be more than happy with a 12/14!
24. Thanks - did speak with the surgeon's office, and they said even though things look fine, the cardiologist probably just wants to cover all the bases, what with the family history. On the upside, I have EVERYTHING else done, was able to schedule my surgical consult, and the surgeon was not available until August 2nd anyway... so having to do the other cardiac tests isn't holding me up much at all anyway, lol. Get to schedule at the surgical consult... I'll probably be on a Wednesday... could be as early as the 15th!! If not though, then I'll have to wait until the 29th, because of work =P
