Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras?? Tell me what you think.
Yep- I went with VV2010 and we had a fantastic experience- Dr. Alvarez is a most excellent professional and his staff is terrific as well. I am THRILLED with my sleeve and had no issues with healing. Two months out, I'm leading a very normal life- working out and eating healthy- just smaller portions than my "old life"! Dr. Alvarez was wonderful- I definitely recommend!!

You look absolutely fantastic DeeDee and are such an inspiration to me! I've even looked into joining Jazzercise in the Atlanta area! :-)

Flonase or Nasonex anyone post-op
Tiffy, I'm using Nasonex, Zyrtec and a Singulair daily with no problems and my allergies are finally under control this spring. I've wanted to try a nettipot though! Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

My thoughts from Week #1 Post-Op
Awesome summary of the week 1 experience VV! I'm so proud of us!

Woohooo... losing again!
Lee, thank you so much for posting your great perspective and experience. I want to try so hard to only weigh myself once a week, because the scale has such an effect on my day! Little or no loss= cranky SlimDiddy.

I finally found a before picture!! I'm the one in the pink.
Fab- I think the subject line is just too funny.... "I'm the one in the pink" and you are with your two furbabies!! That just gave me the giggles! You're an inspiration!!

2 days Post Op in San Antonio
VV2010 and I hit the town the Monday after our Saturday Sleeve. We felt pretty good, and enjoyed seeing River Walk and the Alamo!
-
VV and SlimDiddy in front of the Alamo, 2 days post-op. I was 212 on surgery day. You can see that VV2010 has her water bottle with her- sip, sip, sip!

River Walk--- all those cute river front cafes, mexican food an all, and we were FINE! No hunger at all!
-
VV and me on the river "cruise". 20 years of being best friends- couldn't imagine sleevin' it without her.

1 day post op
BJean, you're right. The gas either escapes up top or down below (excuse me!) It's because the doctor fills your stomach with air during the surgery (not exactly sure why- maybe to check for leaks?). The gas is the most painful part, I found. Now that I'm four days out, I don't have the gas pains hardly at all and I'm back to normal activity. Going to work on Monday shouldn't be a problem. In fact, VV and I felt so good on Monday, when we were back in San Antonio we explored River Walk and the Alamo! San Antonio has a beautiful downtown!

Liquids...3 days out
That gurgling sound IS really weird! I am getting used to slowing down and taking tiny sips too. I think you're perfectly normal, SamieTeacher! And I hope it's your spring break and you're enjoying it!

VV2010 and SlimDiddy are Ready for Sleeve Day!
Hi Everyone! Well, VV2010 and I are here in TX, ready to drive over the border tomorrow to see Dr. Alvarez and WE ARE SO EXCITED!!! We've had a great day so far, except that the woman sitting one seat up and over the aisle from us on the plane brought a ziploc bag filled with homemade sugar Cookies and ATE THE ENTIRE BAG while VV2010 and I were salivating!!! I nearly fell out of my seat when VV2010 took out a Listerine breath strip, put it in her mouth, and declared, "Man, I'm full!" The plane ride was just fine, and honestly, that's the part I was most scared about this whole process--- I HATE flying! I swear to you that I was more nervous about the flying than the actual surgery! But everything was just fine. Said goodbye to my son and husband last night and got a little teary, but I know everything will be OK. We keep telling ourselves "people do this every day!!" We can't wait to report back to you all on our surgery tomorrow! VV and I are the only ones being sleeved tomorrow. We met a wonderful woman who was waiting for the airport shuttle while we were waiting for Dr. A.'s driver, Rosey (love Rosey!) This woman was sleeved on the 29th and she was doing SO well- spent the day walking around San Antonio, went to get her nails done, went to the movie theater. VV and I are hoping that we'll feel that good on Monday- would love to be able to see some of San Antonio. Thanks to you, Sleeve Family! The support you all give here is phenomenal. What a great journey we're on! Until tomorrow... or probably Sunday....
