i have Cigna (Florida) and as of April 2012 they required: 6 month wait of monthly checkin and weigh in. They ask me every month how i'm trying to loose weight. A psych eval and she must sign off A dietician eval and she must sign off An approval letter from your primary doctor w/ medical clearance Hope this helps.

My sister is having her surgery tomorrow also and I think she's excited but a little worried too. I'm sure both of you will do fine. Just think of all the things you'll be able to do once you loose the unhealthy weight. Stay positive

Hope everything turns out well with the test results. i have also started preparing though my surgery won't be for several more months. We are two smart cookies I have cut back on soda/ started drinking more water and bought some protien shakes to supplement a meal all in hopes of having an easier transition. my sister had the same problem. she didn't get defeated though. she went home, cried a little and figured out how to make it happen. YOU can do this! Don't give up on something that will change your life for the better.

Just wanted to do a little shoutout to my sister TriciaN. we started this journey at the same time but due to different insurances we can't get banded together. When she told me she was able to do it within a month of our first consultation i was extremely upset that I wouldn't have the support of my sister. During these last few weeks she has always been there to tell me what she's going through and tried to give me pointers. She is 8 days into the presurgery diet and i know she's miserable but she doesn't let on. She keeps right on chugging those dang shakes she hates so much and no matter what obstacle comes her way she's smiling. I'm so proud of her. She is truly my inspiration. i love you sissy and wish you the best!

Read all the Fifty books and loved everyone. If those books dont get your blood running nothing will! Told the hubby about this post and he said without a doubt i'm getting banded now. So looking forward to awesome sex with my awesome hubby

my surgery isn't until November but everyday i ask myself the same questions. Do i really want to make all these changes for something thats not guaranteed or something that sounds like its more pain then what it might be worth? I even go so far as to try to convience myself I will become a horrible person. and then i remember that the reason this surgery is even an option is because of my health not for superficial reasons (though looking good will help). I guess what i'm saying is...you have to weigh your health against everything else and then make a decision. Best of luck.

My surgery isn't until November but after reading alot of the posts on here I decided to start cutting back on my soda intake and hoping to be completely weened from caffeine by August. In doing so maybe it won't be so hard when i start the liquid diet. As of yesterday I had a total of 16.9 ounces and at first it tasted good but by the end my stomach was not liking it at all. i had to force myself to finish it. Probably doesn't seem like a big deal for alot of folks but for a person that normally drinks nothing but soda and tea all day everyday its a big deal. Felt a little bloated last night too and the headache was mild... Is this normal? Is there some way I can make the Water taste better without adding sugars? Someone suggested lemon but I dont really like the lemon taste. I also bought flavored water (tangerine) but it left an after taste. I really want this to work so any help would be great. Thanks.

34yo married and a mother of 2 (14 and 11). i have had a weight problem my whole life but it seemed to have gotten worse once i had my tubes tied. what motivates me to want the surgery is the fact that its had for me to do things with my kids anymore. i am tired of having to take the "fat" seats on rollercoasters or my back hurting so bad i barely make it out of the theme park. I know it's time for me to make a change but what change do i make? My sister and I had our first appointment in April and while she's able to have her surgery in July, I'm having to wait 6 months due to insurance requirements. i thought we would be able to go through this together for support but now that we're not i find myself trying to talk myself out of having the surgery. I was wondering if am i the only one out there that is scared to death about having surgery! so here i am!?!
