  1. Welcome! I am also in the beginning of a 3 month waiting period. I am actually going into my second month here in July. I go between excitement and sheer terror. I have been losing about 2 lbs a week just watching calories and a bit more activity, so you start thinking "do I really have to put myself through this surgery? Why can't I just keep doing this...". I've been heavy most all of my life and like most people here have been on tons of diets, some worked, some didn't, but you still gain it all back. So thats where I am... Glad your here, it helps you process your thoughts and feelings.
  2. Thats today...hope you are doing well!
  3. There is a 6 month and a 3 month option. With the 6 mo one, you see the doctor for 6 mos, the nut once and one psych eval. With the 3 mo one, you see the doctor for 3 mos, the nut for 3 mos and one psych eval. Thats the only difference... You really should check into it again to be sure, otherwise it may be a specific policy this hospital has? My husband works at menorah and we have wellcare level 3.
  4. My surgery isn't scheduled yet but I'm thinking sept/oct.
  5. Thanks! I know right, I just want it to get here already, but I'm taking this time to adjust (no drinking with eating) and prepare, so I hope it goes by quick!
  6. Me too Erica, except mine is a 4 year old girl. Still waiting for my surgery though. Keep us posted!
  7. Hi everyone... Such amazing people and stories! My name is Heather, I'm 37 today. I have been with the my husband for 20 years and married for 15 of those. We have an amazing 4 year old daughter who is the biggest miracle/blessing I could ever hope for. I have been heavy since childhood and was diagnosed with pcos at 21 and was told I probably would not have children. I've learned that God has his own plans and we just have to have faith and patience for it to unfold. I am an only child. I was raised mainly by my mom, but am glad to say I have a great relationship with my dad these days. We also have an australian shepherd banned jordan who we thought would be our only child before our daughter came along. I love movies (at the theater), all kinds of music, huge animal lover and love to learn and experience new things. If I could get paid to be a student I'd do it forever! I have just started my 3 month supervised diet and am hoping to have surgery in sept/oct. I'm a stay at home mom, but our dtr starts kindergarten in aug, so I'm hoping after surgery to be able to start looking for a job again. I've done the climbing the career ladder thing and am just looking for something that makes me happy. I wish you all the most success in your journeys and feel free to message me if you wanna talk...oh, I live in olathe ks by the way and am going through malley surgical center for my surgery.
  8. Well I've got my psych eval and first dr's appt under my belt. My first nut appt is next wed. I'm lucky in that I only have to do 3 months of visits with my doc & nut before they submit to my ins (aetna hca) for approval! I'm not really nervous yet, I'm the type that doesn't get too nervous until the day of. I guess I've been waiting so long to be able to do this that I don't want to jinx it and get overly excited too soon. I've been looking all through this site and it's been very informative! I have also been viewing You Tube videos to watch peoples accounts of their sleeve journeys... I am trying to decide if I want to record something now that I can refer back to later on in the journey for reference/encouragement. So just wanted to say hi to all you that have yet to get your sleeve, like me, and thanks to those of you already on your journey who have offered such wonderful insight!
  9. Good luck with this one Amy! I have been reading alot about the sleeve and people seem to do really well with it. I was trying to decide between the band and the sleeve for a while but the more I read and saw, the further I was leaning to the sleeve and now I am pretty much convinced that its for me. I am just getting started with my 3 month pre-op stuff, but it just doesn't seem real that I could be having this done before the end of the year... excited, nervous, etc. Heather
  10. I used to work in a place like that... I wouldn't say anything either. They may guess or figure it out but just make it a non-topic. Take your breaks/lunch out in your car, if you can... so you can have that time to yourself away from wandering eyes... It will definitely be hard though, seems like in office settings everyone is always in somebody else's business!
  11. Looks like nothings been going on in here since July of last year. Would sure like to hear how you all are doing these days... I am just beginning the process of starting my 3 month supervised diet. Hope you all are doing great! Heather
  12. I'm trying to get into the social group you all have set up but it's asking for a password...help!
