  1. Has anyone had surgery for a few years? I am just wanting to know the long term effects of the sleeve. As human I do not think we are suppose to eat as much as we do anyway. So will I be normal? Or not be able to hold anything down. Got approved today and I'm getting scared. EEEEEEK!!!
  2. BCBS of GA.....even though I live in TN lol.
  3. I AM APPPPPPPRRRRRROOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEDDDDD!!!! Yay yay yay!! Surgery date is August 13TH!
  4. I got APPROVEDDDDD!!! YAY!! My surgery is scheduled for August 13. It took 4 business days to get approved! I am so excited, I cannot wait to start living!
  5. My surgeon said he uses a 38 fr. He said he used to do 32 but the bariatric world argued that was too small and he said many doctors do a 42. He says he does 38 to be in the middle. And he has had great success.
  6. That's great! They didn't give me a time line, however I called and they said I SHOULD know something by Friday! Have you had surgery?
  7. I know I have to do it 4 weeks after surgery, probably before though
  8. Thanks when you you have your sleeve?
  9. Goodness! I hope it doesn't take three months for approval!
  10. My doctor told me that many people fail the lapband but people succeed as well...he said if I was 60 he wouldn't have even brought it up. With me being 23 he said I should think about erosion and what will happen in 20 years with the band. Other surgeries may need to be done, or even have the band replaced. He also said that weightloss is much slower with the band. He expects me to lose 60% of my excess in 6 months!!! I just think this would be best for me, I am not trying to sway anyone else to the sleeve just stating what he told me
  11. Also how many insicions did you have?
  12. Went to the doctor and he gave me the pros and cons of lap band and the pros and cons of the sleeve. I feel the sleeve would be best for me. He said since I am young a foreign body for that long wouldn't be best for me. And that makes sense. I wanted to say thank you for all your support thus far you guys are great. Good luck on your own journeys!
  13. Ok so I am 23 years old 260 lbs 5'8. I was going to get the lapband but after talking to my surgeon decided the sleeve was best for me . I have done all my requirements this far. Bcbs required a psych eval, a nutrition consult, and a physician consult. They submitted my papers Friday!!!! How long did it take for y'all to be approved? Then how long for surgery? Any other requirements? My doctor mentioned a GI study before surgery to see if I had a hiatal hernia. Thanks in advance!!
  14. No I had to do a psych eval, nutrition consult, and see the doc! That's all that's was required. Other than high bmi and comorbid factors and whatnot. My appointment is July 5th! I hope to hear something within that next week.
  15. I was told not to eat those foods as well....those foods are what packed on the pounds for me. I am a carb-o-holic! Honestly I don't think I'll miss them. Knowing that I am healthy, losing weight, feeling great, will give me more satisfaction than the carbs ever did
  16. I took her with a grain of salt really.....IMHO I think she was going through the motions of the insurance process....that might be all she does? Who knows? But they both mentioned the success rate of the band. That if you aren't compliant it will not work. But the band is a tool not a solution. I do not want the protein deficit like the bypass, and I do not want to change my anatomy. I know I will have to work at any WLS but I think the band will be best for me.
