The Waiting Unite
I know how you feel, too. I was on a deadline to get scheduled for surgery and to let my job know, so they could find someone to replace me while I'm out. Just found out that I still won't know my date before my schedule at work comes out, so that means I have to wait another whole six weeks schedule to tell my job my date. It sucks, because all of my requirements are complete, just waiting for Cigna to approve me. :-(

You are so right, Cat. Nothing like hearing about someone going through a real trial to make us feel silly about our mundane problems. Tekara, I'm so happy your surgery went well, and that things are looking good for you. Know that everyone here cares about you, and are rooting for you to have a long, happy, healthy life. Hugs

- I'll Just Blame It On The Diet.
I was just reading through the insurance forum, because I'm pre-op and I'm always on the look-out for info about Cigna. I noticed a thread about someone asking about applying for Medicaid to cover their surgery, and someone made the comment, "I'll just keep my opinion to myself." It hit a nerve and I'm about to go off, so I'll just blame it on the diet. How dare anyone on a SURGICAL WEIGHTLOSS FORUM judge anyone else for trying anything humanly possible to lose weight and better their lives. Really? To anyone who thinks they're better than someone else, take a look in the mirror, hun. You're obese or morbidly obese just like the rest of us. Who cares if you have private insurance, because it may or may not cover wls anyway. Sorry ya'll, but I am a nurse who works in a county hospital, and taking care of the uninsured and under-insured is my passion. That comment just really pissed me off. No one is better than anyone else here, whether you have insurance or not. That was a rude comment made by someone who is so much of a coward, they don't even have a pic of themself on their profile. Ok, I'm stepping off of my pedestal.- Insurance Approval Waiting Time?
Hi, I think you should call no later than Monday afternoon. Some offices only work half day on Fridays, so it may not do you any good by calling tomorrow, but be sure and call Monday. I have Cigna as well, and all of my paperwork was supposed to have been sent today. I'm going to call on Monday to make sure it was sent. I'm calling Cigna first, and if they didn't get it, then I'm calling the surgeon's office. Be your own advocate. No one knows how important this surgery is as much as you do. Good Luck!- Where Do I Fit In?
Sorry about the disappointment, but glad that you have that horrible band out and you can now start healing. All hope isn't lost, you'll be right back there in 6 months getting your sleeve. Stay positive!- Independence Day: A Whole New Meaning

Congrats and good luck on your weight loss! Let us know how you're doing :-)- Freinds...how Many Of Us Have Them?
One of my best friends since 1st grade simply ignores anything I say related to my surgery. The sad part is that we've both been morbidly obese majority of our lives. She had RNY back in 2001, when we were in our early 20s, and I supported her all the way, even though I didn't think the surgery was for me. I went to some of her appointments with her and visited her in the hospital after surgery. I had already moved away after college, so I was driving an hour and a half each way to go be with her during those times. I did it because I wanted to be there for her, and because both of her parents were already deceased. She did go on to gain most, if not all of the weight back. Now, I'm ready to have wls, and she doesn't respond to texts if I mention my surgery. If we're hanging out and I mention where I am in the process, it's like dead silence. My family has told me to stop mentioning it to her, and to not tell her when I'm having surgery. It's very hurtful, because she's the godmother of my daughter, we hang out together all the time, and we vacation together every year. I think this surgery may end a close friendship that has lasted 30 years. No matter what, I'm having the surgery. Resolving my diabetes and high blood pressure will win any day, friend or no friend.- What Makes Sleeve Different Than High Protein Diet?
- Why Am I So Consumed With Wls?
I swear I've never had so many doubts/concerns/worries/anxiety about anything in my life, including marriage, childbirth, a mortgage, graduate school, or anything else I can think of. This decision has been a culmination of 4 years trying to decide if WLS surgery was for me, and after deciding, I just want it done already. I've never been the type of person to analyze something so much. I'm typically a go getter, and as I get closer to surgery, I've skipped over anxiety about the surgery and I'm now fixated on what I can do ahead of time to make my recovery the best recovery ever. I know it sounds crazy, but I can't stop. This surgery is consuming my life, and I don't even have approval yet. I feel like I'm about to bust out of my skin, with anxiety and anticipation.- My Boyfriend Left Me
- Liver Biopsy During Surgery
Were your liver function tests or LFTs elevated? Did you have an ultrasound of the gallbladder done? These are the usual reasons for a biopsy. If you did have an ultrasound, they may have seen something on ultrasound that they want to check out, by sending a biopsy to pathology. PLEASE call your doctor and ask him to explain it to you, so you can feel at ease with what is going to happen during and after surgery. Good Luck!- C-Diff
C-diff is a bacterial infection that originates in the gut. People don't usually know that they have it until they are given antibiotics, and immediately start having diarrhea. Most common in long term care facilities, but it does occur in hospitals too. The most important thing to remember about it is that using waterless hand sanitizer will not be effective in preventing the spread of it, you have to wash your hands with soap and water to prevent the spread, so make sure to tell your health care providers to WASH THEIR HANDS.- Down 75!
- My Boyfriend Left Me
I see the OP hasn't replied since yesterday, so who knows, they could've had dinner last night and be on the mend. I do agree with OTR in that she never once said she was ready to be done with him, she just wants him back (whether he's prince charming or a ******). I do have to comment on that they were together for 6 years, doesn't anyone find it strange that they never got married? If this relationship was the greatest, and he was price charming, wouldn't she have wanted to snag him? He was a father to her son, he was financially responsible, he sounds like a catch. Did he want to be snagged? He could've been "playing house" the whole time. Either way, there were problems long before the surgery, and they didn't just start during the "manic female pre-op stage". Also, who can find a place to stay in that short of time, unless they went home to mommy or had a hottie waiting in the wings? Either way, when you "move in together" without being married, you may not be legally responsible for the bills, but you're morally responsible for handling the situation like a "man", not like a "little boy running away." I speak from experience, my ex-husband left in the same manner, "because I was fat and he felt he deserved better". He had a hottie waiting in the wings, and I had a pre-nup, so vengeance was mine. :-) To the OP, it gets better, and fortunately, you won't die from a broken heart. Get off the couch and go for a walk in the sunshine, do something to make yourself feel better. Everyday gets a little better. Go spend some time with your son. Most of all, reflect on whether you really want this "man" in your life, teaching your son to become irresponsible too. Good luck, and let us know how you're doing and how the weight loss is going.
