  1. Hello, How are you doing? Have you gone back to your shakes? I'm starting fresh today. It's been hard to do the shakes on the go. My kids are home with me all summer and it's hard to cook for them without eating. Today is a new day.
  2. Im going through the exact same thing! I'm also 4 weeks out... Go figure.. I think I need to go back to the shakes as advised. Hope it gets better for you soon. Let me know how you resolve the problem.

  4. Is this a negative or positive for future Sleeve Patients? Read Article Below: Basically. the justices said that while Congress may have overreached in part with the individual mandate -- the requirement that most Americans buy health insurance or pay a fine -- the provision is held constitutional as a tax. Chief Justice John Roberts -- a conservative appointed by President George W. Bush -- provided the key vote to preserve the landmark health care law, which figures to be a major issue in Obama's re-election bid against Republican opponent Mitt Romney. The announcement will have a major impact on the nation's health care system, the actions of both federal and state governments, and the course of the November presidential and congressional elections. A key question for the high court: The law's individual mandate, the requirement that nearly all Americans buy health insurance, or pay a penalty. Critics call the requirement an unconstitutional overreach by Congress and the Obama administration; supporters say it is necessary to finance the health care plan, and well within the government's powers under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. While the individual mandate remained 18 months away from implementation, many other provisions already have gone into effect, such as free wellness exams for seniors and allowing children up to age 26 to remain on their parents' health insurance policies. Some of those provisions are likely to be retained by some insurance companies. Other impacts will sort themselves out, once the court rules: -- Health care millions of Americans will be affected – coverage for some, premiums for others. Doctors, hospitals, drug makers, insurers, and employers large and small all will feel the impact. -- States -- some of which have moved ahead with the health care overhaul while others have held back -- now have decisions to make. A deeply divided Congress could decide to re-enter the debate with legislation. -- The presidential race between Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney is sure to feel the repercussions. Obama's health care law has proven to be slightly more unpopular than popular among Americans. Not since the court confirmed George W. Bush's election in December 2000 -- before 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq, Wall Street's dive and Obama's rise -- has one case carried such sweeping implications for nearly every American. Passed by Democrats along strictly partisan lines and still 18 months short of full implementation, the law is designed to extend health coverage to some 32 million uninsured people, ban insurers from discriminating against those with expensive ailments, and require nearly all Americans to buy insurance or pay penalties. Its passage on March 23, 2010, marked the culmination of an effort by Democrats to overhaul the nation's health care system that dates back to Harry Truman's presidency. The most recent effort by President Bill Clinton in 1994 fell victim to Republican opposition. Since then, lesser changes have been enacted, including creation of a separate Children's Health Insurance Program in the states.

  9. Congrats on your weight loss! I've heard a few support groups have clothing exchange. If not, buy a few pair of jeans/shorts and several shirts. Maybe this can hold you over for a few more months. Through month 4-5... I know you'll feel good shopping! I can't wait until I'm shopping! That was a good one!!
  10. I get that feeling when I eat too much.. . I also get that feeling when I eat too fast... . LOL! Oh, I get it when I eat chicken sometimes. Now I make sure my chicken is super moist. When I eat slow I don't get that feeling. I remember a rule from the Europen diet is to put your fork/spoon down after every bite. This is suppose to slow your eating down and help you feel full faster. I'm now trying to follow this rule to ease my pain. My doctor also put me on Prilosec 2x's a day. One in the morning and one b4 bedtime. I'm only 2 weeks out... Congrats on your success!! Good luck! Keep me posted!

    Single Incision Vsg

Yes, I was sleeved on June 7, 2012, through a single incision. However, my pain is concentrated in the belly button area. Right now, I'm experiencing extreme fatigue. I'm also suffering from food choices at this point. My husband took great care of me the first week but, we have 3 kids. So, this week I'm challenged with cooking for the family and cooking for me. When were you sleeved?? How's it going now??

    Biggest Loser Weigh In

I've lost 2 pounds. I have to start walking next week.
  13. Hello everyone, I was sleeved on June 7th, 2012, through a single incision.... I was so nervous but everything went by so fast. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days extra due to high blood pressure and problems tolerating my meds. ( I'm allergic to codeine so that cuts out all the good meds.). In the hospital they kept feeding me broth, Jello, Popsicles, Italian ice and Protein shakes. I couldn't eat too much of anything for the first two days. Now that I'm home I'm tempted to eat everything. However, the pain I have during and after eating keeps me from doing too much. I keep getting a very sharp, rolling and uncomfortable feeling in my stomach when I eat at times. Does anyone know what that may be coming from? What can I do to reduce/stop the pain? How do I get all my liquids in without feeling bloated? Everytime I have a Protein shake, I feel stuffed and suffer diarrhea shortly afterwards. The Protein Shakes have 5 grams of Fiber in each. Did anyone else suffer diarrhea during week one or liquid weeks? Where does the diarrhea come from? What can I do to stop it? My belly is visibly swollen... Will putting ice packs help reduce the swelling? What else can I do to reduce swelling?? I also have some bruising around the incisions. How do I reduce bruising? I'm also having a major problem with this liquid diet. It's beginning to become tired some and hard to stay on task. I don't want to cheat as I struggle through this phase. What liquids have helped you through this phase?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Surgery weigh in = 223 Today's weight = 208

    One Week Post Op

Congrats! I'm one week Post-Op today also... I've lost 12 pounds so far and can't wait to lose more. How are you doing with your food? What are you eating? I was suppose to start my soft/purée foods today but haven't had the heart to change yet. Good luck and keep up the good work!
  18. Thank you so much for all your help! I think your right about the temperature. I was drinking the shakes frozen with ice. This evening, I had a cup of hot tea and no spasms. I also tried eating from a baby's spoon and didn't have spasms if I ate really slow. Your such a smart lady! What are the signs of a leak? How do I avoid getting a leak? Do you have any additional advice for me in the future???? Things you wish you had done? What are some things I can do to help my healing process? What are some good liquids I can have? Thanks for all your help!
