  1. I know how you feel, I went through the same thing....... did better today if you want the feel of something to chew on I found ice is a great sub, if you have some around
  2. Wow, holy typos! Hopefully everyone can get the idea
  3. I have been on them since Tuesday last week, but there hasn't been a day tgat i haven't had something else, like an egg or some tuna fish. Six shakes a day is a driving me crazy and then I feel guilty for eating anything. Please no judgment, I realize thus surgery is elective and I should be more focused on sticking to the shakes only. I see a lot of people talk about their preop diets, where they can eat food, so just wondering if anyone else out there was told to do the shakes only for 2 weeks before their surgery date. Hope everyone is having a great night
  4. I am getting sleeved July 17th. I have life insurance through work, otherwise I would be getting that as well not crazy at all, if god forbid anything were to happen to me I want my children to be set and financially ok.
  5. I understand your fears, I too have little ones, my youngest isn't even a year old. I know there are risks, but I also know that I need to do this. It's hard to stand by that however when I am writing out a living will ect ect I want to be prepared for anything but I expect to be fine. And in the end I will be a whole new momma for my kids thank being said, I still feel that rising fear every day that inches closer to surgery, I am thankful that I am not the only one!! best of luck to you, don't doubt yourself and why you started down this road in the first place
  6. it depends on the doctor and the hospital, there really is no easy answer for you on this one. I finished my classes on June 1st, I had to go back for a final clearance from the pulminologist. I got my medical clearance the middle of June, insurance approval a week later and then was told on July 2nd that my surgery had been scheduled for July 17th. I wish you the bast of luck!

I have been on this journey for sometimes now, and this week I was given a date finally, July 17! two weeks notice to get everything in order and try to prepare myself for this. then again isn't that what I have been doing all this time anyway? I also got the news last weekend that the doctors do not expect my mother to live, and as a result she is being moved into hospice care today......... and my second class for this semeter starts next week needless to say there is so much on my mind and I don't know where to start. For now I am trying to focus on staying with my optifast diet, getting things ready for surgery and situated with work. I try not to think about the fact that I could loose my mother any day, I pray I don't come out of surgery only to find out she is gone, that is my fear.
  8. I'm on day 4 of the Optifast diet before surgery, today is better then yesterday. I broke down yesterday and had an egg, all these shakes and Soups and liquids, last night my hunger was alittle too much. but I have heard the third and 4th days are usually the worse. My understanding is that this optifast is used to put my body in a state of ketosis, which burns fat rather then carbs and in turn shrinks the liver to make surgery easier. today I am not feeling as hugry but I can def still feel it bitting at my heels, hopefully it will get easier best of luck to you!!
  9. I started my two week pre op diet today as well. My dr puts us on optifast, the first shake I had was disgusting ......hopefully that is not a trend! Can't wait, the countdown has started officially 2 weeks until my surgery! Best luck
  10. I am going into the doctors office on July 5th to get my Optifast for the two week pre-op diet. I am scheduled for surgery on july 19th. I am pretty worried about two weeks of an all liquid and Jello diet. I know it will help with surgery, just wondering if anyone who has been through it has any suggestions? I know I saw a few posts about this a while back, so I apologize if this is a repeat but I couldn't seem to find them what did you do to fight off hunger? tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated

  13. Congrats! I just got the call myself! I'm scheduled for july 19th! Its so exciting best of luck
  14. I just got a call from my dr, insurance has been approved and I'm looking at a surgery date of July 19. I'm so excited, but now my nerves are getting to me. I'm happy and I know this is best for me, just the reality of surgery is kicking in! Does anyone else feel this way?? Guess I'll be a july sleever
  15. thank you!! in all this stressing I didn't even think of that!
  16. I am getting close tothe time for my final medical clearance and I have a huge issue. I have actually gained weight. I started this process at around 241 and I now sit at around 245. I have heard from many different people that insurance companies will deny you if they see that you have gained weight whilt going through the process and so now I am freaking out. I am so afraid that I have put all this work and time into this the be denied because I have gained 4 lbs. anyone have any experience with this?
