    9 Month Stall?

Hmmmm....I was sleeved 8/24/2011 and was sleeved when I became 264. I am 175 and 5'9". Just the other day I posted I was in a loose 12 and not tight but snug 10. Today I fit into a 8. I stayed at 190 from 02/12 until early May. No matter what I did, nothing would come off. I actually went down to 187 for like 2 days in that time frame but back up to 190 and plateaued for what seemed like eons of time. I think our bodies are reconfiguring themselves and knows where we should be at during the major weight loss. I've just learned to be patient and enjoy my body at every size and continue to eat right and exercise and stay hydrated!

    down to a size 12

Nice! My Lane Bryant leaflet came yesterday. I am in a loose 12 or snug but not tight 10. So I am wearing an 11. I can't bring myself to go into the Jr. Dept for the odd number sizes. Lol I was looking forward to being a 40 year old with the teenaged body I missed out on. Actually my senior year in high school I did Nutri-System and was a 11 but that was a short victory. There is a Flea Market here and they have used designer clothes for $1. That has been a blessing because I go through sizes so quick.

    Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?

Eggs...eggs...eggs....I make bomb diggity scrambled or fried eggs! Ask my son who doesn't like eggs. They taste so-so now. I am 9 months post op and at first I was really sick behind them and stopped eating them. I eat them now but they still don't sit well unless I eat them hot. Granted, we are supposed to chew 30 times I eat them pretty fast. Once in a while I will have potato salad with more egg than potato but mix the bite and they are ok. I cannot eat deviled eggs or hard boiled eggs unless its mixed with another food like a Cobb salad. I cannot eat scrambled eggs if they are cold. Eggs have become hit and miss with me.

    One Month Update Questions

@June13sleever I eat my tacos! Hard crunchy shell or tostada shell with all the fixings. I had my sleeve at kaiser and they gave out menu plans and it's for tacos! Breakfast tacos but of course you can tweak recipes. It's recommended to use salsa over your meats in case they are "dry". I like chicken breast but the dark meat is moist and has more protein so with chicken breast, I usually have a little bit of barbeque sauce or salsa. I also do burgers with all the fixings. I eat part of all of it and then just the meat and cheese. It also depends what kind of burger I make. Like, I might have a burger with egg and cheese on top and 1 small piece of bacon. It sounds like a lot but it's made to order in my kitchen. My size. My style. My way. Lol not lol like ha ha but the irony of a slider being a sufficient meal for sleevers and sometimes we can't even finish that and we still have to get down vegetables. But it also seems to me like you have days like me where I am starting to realize "Nothing tastes as great as good as thin feels." or "Taste makes waist." Lol
  5. The more you eat, the more weight you lose because your body has the energy to burn up. Think of yourself as a car and you are going a long journey across the world. How many tanks of gas would you have to put in that car to keep going? Food is fuel for the body and when we don't get enough, we go into starvation mode especially if we are eating under 900 calories. If you exercise, you are losing inches and gaining some muscle. From February 2012 til a couple of days ago I was 190 and finally now 184. I hit a major plateau. That 6 pounds came off because I did myself a 3 day care plan and got in almost all of my food(very minimal carbs) with vitamins and water. I purposely didn't exercise. Too many carbs seems to steady my weight loss with the sleeve and when I did it on my own, I ate carbs galore and lost weight. Even when I use to do weight watchers carbs did not seem to impede my weight loss.

    One Month Update Questions

Hello! Congrats on the weight loss. I am 9 months post-op and still have the days you speak of. Sometimes my stomach is full and I can feel it but my brain will say, take one more bite. Lol Against my better judgment, I do try it because some of the time when I am full, I haven't ate enough to save an earth worm so I need that one more bit of protein. I usually can't even chew it so your new stomach will let you know. What I do know when I go out to restaurants is that because I have a thoughtful boyfriend, we order one plate which you know is always enough for two people. If we don't feel it's enough, he will order more meat and we always have our own salad or vegetables. Sometimes though the waitress will bring a bit of a bigger portion when they realize we are sharing. I didn't have problems with nausea and vomiting in the beginning either. It came down the line and I have to say I have a couple of episodes a week. Sometimes its just a nauseated feeling and passes and other times, it's the real deal. Everyone is different! Just watch yourself and how you react to certain foods and drinks. Remember this can be a permanent resolution to what used to be temporary solution(dieting). I think we know diets don't work and this isn't a diet---It's a journey into a new life as though you have been reborn again. Our stomachs our about the size of toddlers. We need those small spoons and baby bottles. lol Small steps will you get you there. It's just takes willpower and perseverance. Remember you are responsible for your own happiness no matter how many people are on your side and give you support. I mean it helps but nobody can eat or exercise for you!!!!! This is all you now!!! Good Luck!

    Constantly Eating!

Yep! Yep! Yep! My nutritionist told me to make sure I at least all my protein even if I have to do it over a couple of hours but yet, the Dr. had said take 30-45 minutes to eat your meals and what you don't finish, throw out and supplement at the end of the day with a Protein Shake if you don't make your requirements but don't use the Protein Shakes as meal replacements. So I start and eat what I can for probably 20-25 minutes because by that 30-45....the food is cold and sometimes it's already unappealing even when I have made something scrumptious like grilled salmon on the barbie, along with grilled veggies and maybe a little bit of a potato or rice. Not too much on the starches though. It's like I will eat the fish and most of the vegetables on a good day and sneak in (lol) 2-3 small bites of rice. On a bad day and I have cooked that, the SO and kids eat but I just try and keep liquids down and bide my time hoping I can eat later. Some days though I eat and I feel it wasn't enough or I've eaten to my capacity and my stomach knows but my brain is trying to say more! more! Hang in there! It's get easier but it's not easy. It's going to be a bit of a roller coaster ride and from reading these posts and on other sites, we are all on a learning curve because some people are so misinformed and they print info from what they think they heard from their Dr.'s mouth and it's not always correct for everyone on the sites. I am 9 months post-op and they want me to eat all 1200 calories now. It's just not feasible at this point in the game. I am trying though!!!!

    Nausea With Vitamins

Well...looking back and being 9 months post op, I am realizing I could have taken pill form Vitamins all along and saved myself a lot of $$. Liquid vitamins are not tasty. I actually take them with my food or right after with enough water to wet my whistle. Lol They are all best with food especially the calcium and vitamin d3. Unless you are taking 1000 mcg b12 sublingual daily, B12 is just 2-3 times a week if using the 2500 tab. The liquid vitamins made me super nauseated. Only the calcium makes me slightly nauseous at times. I take all tablets and it doesn't seem to "fill" my stomach.
  10. I take the Sublingual B-12 2500 mcg every two days because I have low B-12. I was taking it every other day but when they checked my levels, they were higher than what they wanted( the bari doctor). She told me to check with my pcp since they already had me taking it if I should sustain high levels. The calcium is 3 times a day 500 per dose. The b12 is 5000 mcg a week.

    Breast Loss

Let's see....I started at 311 when I was referred and 303 at my first pre-op appt. in March 2011. August 2011 I was 264 when sleeved. I was still 44 DDD. I was wearing a 36 DD at Christmas. Now at 182(less than high school weight of 189), I wear a 36 D because C is still to small. When I was 17, I wore 38 D size 11 pants and size 8 dress. I am probably a 10 but the loose skin because 12 has been big for a while. So boob loss is inevitable. While we are all sleeved, we are all losing weight naturally by eating proper diets that we must maintain daily for the rest of our lives. Most women big or small don't have huge breast. I had a trademark. Lol Nothing lasts forever and there is always surgery!

    Rant On Men

Ya know! You just never know what kind of man you will end up with. My ex husband did some b.s after I had carpal tunnel surgery and couldn't use my hands. Bejeezus it was crazy! Everyone thought he was such a sweetheart because most times he was but most times isn't enough. He had to go. Lol if is had been the one caring for me after WLS, I would be dead. No joke. My boyfriend now of 3 years does the dishes without me ever having to ask. He cooks and clean. Lol Of course you take the good with the bad as we have our issues. I don't usually have to ask but when I do, it's annoying because I suspect he has read my mind because he claims to know me so well. See how this can turn into a vicious circle. I am responsible for my own well being no matter how secure I feel in my relationship. I realize after my ex, just smile, suck it up and do it myself and don't get mad but be glad it's being done right!

When Did You Lose Your Boobs? Help!

Awww....the wonderful boobies! That was my signature trademark. Lol I am 9 months post op. I was a 44 DDD. Now I am a 36 D. Not sure if they are even that big because they look like deflated fun-bags. Lol Those puppies are gone! I love big boobs but oh well! If it really becomes an issue, I can get implants but I am liking how my body is curving. The new ta-ta's go with the new improving body and I'm digging it!
