  1. The pre-made ones are 11oz. I also bought this huge bag of protein powder and with that you add 1 scoop to 6-8oz of water or milk. So for the last 2 weeks I've been mostly using the powder so I had more control over how much I was having to drink. Hope this makes more sense.
  2. Nothing from the surgeons office but pain killers, nausea medicine, heart burn medicine. I bought my vitamins at Wholefoods, I knew they would have a liquid version. I bough my shakes at Costco, the premiere pre-made ones, and some powder so I could ad skim milk foe extra protein and I could use less liquid, that way I could get 27g of protein in 6oz instead of 30g in 11oz in the pre-made. I bought a ton of different flavored protein drinks and shots from The Vitamin Shoppe and didn't like any of them. So I'm sticking to the Costco stuff. Good luck.
  3. I would When I eat soup I usually measure out 4oz and I only eat about 3oz of it. Just make sure you measure and eat slow so you don't consume to much at one time. I've eaten to much and didn't fell very good after. I have a rough time with liquids also, I am having to force myself to drink tons of water but I'm really wanting to make this work and I've only lost 1lb in the last week so I figured I needed to focus on the water.
  4. I haven't lost much but I can tell in my face and ankles/calfs which is a little weird because I never had the bloating feet problem.
  5. At least take your pain meds when you go to bed it will help you get some better sleep. And yes it will get better. I am 2 weeks out and just yesterday was finally able to get 64 oz of water in. You will start feeling better soon. Just think about your future and how exciting it is going to be.
  6. I start tomorrow I'm nervous about this also.
  7. My incisions where also just glued together. No tape. Looks like the glue is going to last about 2 weeks
  8. I've never heard of anything like this before. Is it an informational conference?
  9. I didn't have to do this but I would have if I had lost to much weight on the 6 month supervised diet. I could not fall below 40 bmi because I have no co-morbidity issues. But I have heard of someone using ankle weights for their weight-ins. It would have worked for me because at all my appointments they weighted me with my clothes and shoes on. I just think the numbers game is a little ridiculous, I love how insurance companies make you wait to get more unhealthy before they will cover it. Anyway Mexico is a great option, my mom is planning on heading down there for her sleeve. Dr. Kelly is $5500 doesn't include the flight. In my opinion the Mexican surgeons are just as good as the ones in the states maybe even better as they usually have done a lot more of these surgeries. Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.
  10. Love it. We need more awesome people in the world.
  11. I was on a 3 week skim milk diet. I was allow to drink skim milk 3 times a day as much as I can in 5-10 mins. I did great for the first week then caved, I cheated 2 times the second week and the 3rd week sucked I would do good one day and cheat the next. I also got married to days before my surgery I tried not to cheat but ate anyway. I never asked my surgeon how my liver looked but I did lose 18lbs in those 3 weeks so hopefully my liver was small enough. If I was you I would totally stick to your pre-op diet the next few days. You don't want your doc to make you reschedule. That would suck. Good luck.

  13. That made me smile I was starting to think I was sounding a little to bitchy.
  14. I'm not saying everyone who keeps it a secret is ashamed of it. I was just addressing the one who are. I would be saying the same thing to who is gay and in the closet because we are afraid or worried what people might think. It's just not a happy way to live. I just if you think it is better to just go around lying to everyone that is your choice. I would just feel like I was living a fake life. But that is just me. And for the record if someone really wanted to know the last time I had sex, I would tell them, what's the big deal we all have sex. If someone asked me how much I make I would tell them because I am happy and content with my earnings, if I was ashamed or unhappy I guess I wouldn't tell people but I also would probably get a different job too. And yes if someone asked how much I paid for my house, of course I would tell them, it is public record anyway so if they really wanted to know they could just look it up. I'm just saying I don't understand the amount of lying that goes on in the world, even the stupid little lies. I know I am an open book which is not everyone. So this is just my opinion. Thanks for sharing yours. BTW I love your Helen Keller quote.
  15. Glad you found out what was causing the short breaths. Sounds like you are feeling a lot better too. I'm doing pretty good, a little bit of a weightloss stall but I guess that happens. Wish I could get more Water in but I just get tired of drinking things and get really full from the Protein Shakes. Good new is I get to start pureed food on Tuesday woohoo lol
  16. Looks like I'll be out of pain meds today or tomorrow. I've only been using them at night so I can sleep more comfortable, my back is killing me. The sharp pains on my right side seem to be finally going away so that's a plus. I am a little worried about trying to sleep without the pain meds though.
  17. I feel the same way. Last night when I laid down in bed it was kind of painfull, like my stomach had a tough time stretching.
  18. Thanks Kristina it is going to be a great year even thinking about trying to buy a house around Sept. Man I can't believe you have had to deal with all those band issues I hope you will enjoy having the sleeve. So far I love it but can't wait to move on from liquids to pureed food. Btw do you recommend Dr. Garcia? I've been look on here for a good doctor to send my mom to in Mexico. We have been in touch with Dr. Kelly but I like to have a few to look into. If I remember right Kelly was $5500 do you know how much Garcia is?
  19. How fun. I hope the wedding turns out perfect for her. And sounds like you are starting a new chapter in you life, the kids are leaving and now you can have tons of fun for yourself.
  20. Thanks. It has been a crazy few weeks but it has all been worth it.
  21. Been on this site for awhile and just figured out there is a GLBT forum. Fun! It will be nice to chit chat with some of you. Things are going great for me I was sleeved on Feb. 19 got legally married on Feb 17 and we are expecting a baby on Oct 15. I'm so exciting to become healthy so I can be a great parent. I wish everyone pre-op luck and wish the best for everyone on the losers bench glad I'm finally there.
  22. Sounds like you are doing everything right. I was also sleeved a week ago and the last 2 days have been great but today I woke up nauseated so I'm glad to hear that maybe it's normal. Luckily I have nausaa meds so I'm feeling a little better. I'm trying to get more water in but I'm kinda just sick of drinking stuff all day. Anyway I hope things go well for you.
  23. Woohoo....I lost 8lbs in the first week. Wishing everyone l good uck and a speedy recovery.
  24. Thin out the protein drink. I thin mine out with skim milk or water. Mostly skim milk because it adds protein. I find it really helps. I think the water just takes time it was like one day it hurt going down and the next it didn't so the last 2 days I've enjoyed drinking water and have felt better, I think I was getting dehydrated. I was sleeved on Feb 19th Good luck I'm sure it will get easier.
