I'm checking on all the August bypassers! How are you doing, pre-op, post-op and otherwise ? Today is my first day of my pre-op. I chose to eat my meat and veggies at lunch today and will have my shake for dinner. So far so good.

You inspire me! Yes I'm getting excited I can't wait to see what my chest will feel like without this band.

Nicci we will be sending those prayers up! I'm excited for you! I had my pre-surgery class this evening the entire thing was 4 hours but it was very informative and way better than I expected. It made me realize that I only have two weeks to prepare. Oh and I also found out that my surgeon is one of the main ones that does send you home with a drain until your first meeting. Needless to say I wasn't to happy about that. I also found out that I will only be in the hospital 24 to 48 hours. I will meet with my Dr next Tuesday so I'm trying to think of some questions to ask him.

I hope all the 8th bypassers are doing well! Keep us posted. I'm at my pre-op admission appt. at 2pm I go to my weight loss surgery class. I just realized I have 18 days. My pre-op diet will start on Monday. I'm down 11 pounds since the last time I saw my Dr. I go see him on Tuesday. I hope I lose at least 3 more by then even though he didn't require me to lose any I just want to surprise him.

I thought I was the only one that did that. I would hyperventilate to the point I would have to focus on breathing. I hate the feeling when I feel like something is clogged in my chest. I've got 19 more days and then I will have my revision. Surgery date is 8/26/2013. How r u doing?

I apologize for my late post wishing everyone luck. I didn't realize that it didn't send early this morning so I just hit the button a minute ago. How many days will you be in the hospital? How's the pain? Make sure you walk to help with the gas pains.

Ok I've got a question or two. I see where some of you are talking about your drains. Are you still in the hospital with the drain tube or did they send yo home with it? In the event that you went home with it, then can you tell me approximately how long will you have to keep it? R any of you band to bypass? If so is the pain about the same? Did they tell you that it will take longer for you to heal?

Welcome surgery buddy! I also want to extend a warm welcome to all recently added August buddies! I wonder how the few August surgeries have gone so far? I wishing for everyone to be healthy, lose weight and have speedy recoveries amongst other things!

Thx Tina I'll check when I meet with my Dr. In 2 weeks. Maybe I'll hit up the net and find a back-up battery. What do u think about taking an iPad or tablet? So many people have posted different opinions. I use my iPad daily and would have to adjust to posting from my phone.

Sherell2, you've packed pretty much the same items I packed. I'm taking my phone, the power strip like someone suggested and either magazines or my iPad. I'm leaning more towards the magazine as I don't want to leave my iPad unattended.

Welcome to August. One more day and its officially August! Yay us! R u ready? I've been working on packing my hospital bag. So far I think I have almost everything I need except an outfit to wear to the hospital and one too wear home. I may narrow it down to one but I'm not sure. My Mom let me use to really roomy lounging gowns so I'm thinking of wearing that home since it provides a lot of room for the stomach. I'm still working on getting my post op stuff. I should have all of that by next weekend. Let me know if you're ready or what you r doing to prepare. Did any of u see the need to buy the book "Weightloss Surgery for Dummies?"

Will do! I'm the first one for my Dr that day. I've got to be at the hospital at 5am. I start my pre-op on the 12th. I'm getting excited and I've already started packing. How about you?

I too am a band (2007) to bypass (8/26/13). I went for the band because it was less evasive and I was scared of the bypass. Why was I scared idk because my Mom had it done in 1992 and she's a success story. So here I am going for a revision. I regret the fact that I could have possibly been a success story had I did the rny the first time. Now I'm sitting here dreaming about my upcoming surgery and what my life will be like. Do your research and ask questions. There are so many people here willing to help you through every step of the way. Best of luck on your decision and your journey! Keep us posted.
