  4. @ Ready4success, I hope you get it done quickly! My whole process was very short..first appointment was 4/11 and had a few others between then and now, and I just got my approval on 6/12-surgery 7/17! So 3 months for the whole process..!
  5. Thank y'all! And shellid I hope you can too..im sure you will have it all done in no time!
  6. Thanks y'all!! I'm so super excited..Good luck to all the other future sleevers!
  7. Sorry my phone made it post twice..
  8. Yay! Something told me to call my doctors office today, and ask..and the nurse said "yes, you got approved!" I was so happy! So she said she will be calling me next week to set pre-op appointment dates! Surgery is scheduled for July 17th! Yay!!!

  10. Wow..great responses. And I'm not super invested in telling everyone, just my family and friends. And if someone asks, I have no problem sharing. As for gossip, who isn't use to that? I know I am. But thank you all for your responses..I just wanted to see what others thought. And you all made good points..another reason to LOVE this site!
  11. Clarification: I don't see the big deal about not telling people..as in, I have told lots of people. (Family & friend-wise)
  12. No offense to those who DO feel this way, but I don't see the big deal about telling people about having the surgery. I mean, its my life and ill do what I want and live it how I want. I feel like I've gotten use to the negative things people say/do, so if they don't think I should get the surgery, I just say "ok" no biggie..I'm still doing it! I just see so many posts about people not wanting to tell people..and I am totally fine with that decision. But what is the biggest issue with it? Being judge? Feeling like someone will say you took the easy way out? I'm just curious. Please don't be offended by this if you are one who chooses not to tell people. I'm just wondering. Thanks
  13. Sorry that happened to you. I understand though. I've never been on a plane, but restaurants always suck. I always request a table! I will be so happy when this will all be a thing of the past! Good luck on your journey! I'm sure one day we will be that sweet lady you sat next to on the plane, and it will be sincere understanding seeing that we've been on both sides!
  14. Welittle1- I'm definitely hoping they will cover it! I have insurance through my employer and I work with a lot of people who have had it already, even used the same surgeon. So maybe it all varies state by state. I spoke with my insurance company today and they said I should know something by next week! Fingers crossed!!
  15. I have BCBS Nebraska, and I got a similar paper stating they are requesting more paperwork/certification type stuff..so I called my nurse and she said not to worry. They basically send the same thing to the drs office, and the drs office is responsible for everything. So that's what happened with mine..hopefully they will tell you the same thing!
  16. misschris, thank you! Good luck to you too!! I'm very excited..however, still waiting on insurance approval. I should hear back next week hopefully! I also downloaded a timer app on my phone!! 45 days!!
  17. Oh, and to add..I'm still waiting on my approval, but I got my date already. *July 17th*
  18. My first appointment (consultation) was April 11th and I started the process that day and had my second appointment on May 14th (I did all of my requirements within that months time), the nurse submitted my insurance on May 15th.
  19. I'm July 17th in Lagrange, Ga!
  20. I have PCOS as well..and the same problem! I've been so worried that I'm gonna look nearly bald on top..my hair is thick towards the bottom, but the top has been thinning for a while. I'm so worried about this! I wish I knew a way to fix this.
  21. Good to hear from you! Hope you are feeling better everyday! keep us updated..I love hearing from everyone post op!
  22. I had my gallbladder removed March 2011, and the gas was horrible!! I woke up screaming..lol! My mom was like "what's wrong what's wrong??" I thought I was dying..plus just waking up..it was rough! Walking did help, but I also threw up everytime I stood up! Better luck for this surgery!
  23. Congrats on the approval! And that is great that the three of you can experience this together! I love this site, but physical support is great too!
  24. I haven't even gotten approved yet and have already spoken with my FMLA coordinator. I've had intermittent (sp?) FMLA for all of my appointments to do with the surgery..so my supervisor knows what I've been doing and everything. My date is July 17th and my coordinator said it has to be filed 30 days prior atleast. Not sure how your job does medical leave though. Just thought id put my info out there for you good luck!
  25. Well, I don't have a whole lot of advice on what to ask. I kind of just went with the flow of what my dr was telling me about my surgery options..I of course chose the VSG. As he was explaining things, I had some questions pop into my head..I'm sure you will too. But as for what all was done on my first visit, I spoke to the nurse about everything, told her the type of work I do, etc. Then I spoke with the dr and he explained my options and drew pictures. Then went for labwork, and setup my appointments for psych eval & nutrition class. That was all done on my first visit. hope this helped a little! Good luck!
