Pre-Op; First Blog Entry & It's Super Long
I'm so glad your hubby is going to the seminar with you. He may never truly understand, especially if he's never battled his weight. But hopefully, more education will enlighten him to the what you've been going thru! And yes, having the band and still having the whole tummy sucked!!! I was ALWAYS hungry. Here's hoping I can get my sleeve soon! Keep me posted on your prgress

Pre-Op; First Blog Entry & It's Super Long
I can so relate to so much of your story. I also was always the "Big" Girl my whole life. And I was taller and built bigger than my mother and sisters but looking back at pictures, I was curvy and hot in high school. But as I got out in the real world more and more weight piled on. I tried all the same stuff, Weight Watchers, Diet Pills, Atkins etc. The one thing I did that you didn't (thank God you didn't) was go down the Lap Band road. I got the lap band in 2008 and after it slipped and blocked off my stomach completely had it removed in 2010. I did lose 50 lbs doing that but of course as soon as I could eat it all came back. So here I am...looking to get a sleeve. (Have a surgeon consult on 1/10/13 so I'm hoping for a Spring Sleeve) Like you I researched like crazy, after the mess that the lap band was I didn't want to go down that road. And I am convinced that the sleeve is what I need. My current husband is amazingly supportive however my X husband didn't get it at all when I got the lap band, so I understand where you are. My suggestion to you is Yes, educate your hubby. Show him some of the statistics about losing weight and keeping it off. Specifically about the disease of obesity. Once you are obese there are so many additional factors and it goes so far beyond "eat right and exercise more". You also might get him to go talk to the surgeon with you. Sounds like in the long run he will support you, but he might feel better about it if he understands a little more what you are dealing with. Good luck! Keep us updated on your progress Vicki

The High Price Of Gas
Trish, I shared with you about breaking the bed the first time my husband and I were together a couple blogs ago. Well, afterwards and we are all comfy cuddled together on the mattress and I felt "it". (I had a lap band at that time and I managed to embarrass my kids with my farting technique). I really didn't want to let it rip (especially after the bed issue) but as we laid there it just sorta squeeked out. Now I never realized it but my husband says my farts sounds like someone is talking. I'm not sure what it said but it sent him and then me into a fit of giggles I thought I would suffocate from lack of breath!! Now we make jokes about my "mating call"...luckily he usually answers! LOL!!

I'm so glad to hear things have gone smoothly with Dr. Jossart. I have an appt to see him for my consultation on 1/10 with the NUT and psych on the same day. I'm coming down from the Sacramento area and Patty has been a wonderful with helping me coordinate everything. I'm so excited for you that things are zipping along!! Anybody Have Experience With Dr. Patching
Good Luck! I had heard he was a great surgeon. Unfortunately, since I previously had a lap band he wouldn't even see me. I guess he doesn't do revisions. It's all good though, I am currently scheduled for a consultation with Gregg Jossart, down in the bay area. I'll get my sleeve one way or another!!

Anybody Have Experience With Dr. Patching
Hi All.... I have been gone for awhile, had to change insurance and now I get to start over again. I was hoping to get back to see the doctor that previously did my band (which has since been removed) however, I just found out yesterday and I can't see him. So I have to see Dr. Patching in Sacramento. Anybody have any experience with him?? I was really hoping to see the surgeon I already knew, but I guess that's not an option. Any insite would be appreciated. Thanks Vicki

Trying To Decide
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do some serious research on the lapband. There are soooo many problems and many people end up revising to the Sleeve or RNY anyway. I had the lapband for 2 years until it slipped and I had to have it removed. So now after I have regained all my weight I am trying to get revised to a sleeve. I wish I would have read more before I decided on the lapband....and not just believed all the hype! Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Scale Recalibration- Steel Toed Boot To The Ego!
LOL....I totally understand. Maybe you can stand on your new scale with part of a foot hanging off (by accident of course) just to make yourself feel better....

6 Month Supervised Diet.. Anyone Lose Enough Weight They Decided
LOL...My husband sorta laughs at me because as I go through this supervised diet to get to surgery about every other week I say "You know, maybe I won't have surgery. I'm doing ok...I can do this" But reality is it's not about the losing, it's about keeping it off. I'm so tired of the constant yo yo...the up and down...I have done it all my adult life, and OBVIOUSLY it's not working. So I know it's time to do something permanent. Now, to be honest, next week...I'll probably think I don't need it again...LOL

Steps In The Right Direction
OK...so in spite of the fact that my surgeon was less that energetic about my weight loss (Only 9# to go before he will schedule surgery) I must be doing something right. He actually sent the request over to Radiology for me have have the Upper GI to double check any scarring done by my band. I'm taking this as a good sign that I'm actually moving towards my sleeve!! Special Shout out to the Fabulous MissDiva for talking me off the edge of the cliff yesterday!!! You Rock!!!

Slowly But Surely....
Weighed at the Dr. this morning and the scale finally moved!!! Yeah me! I'm down 16# of the 25# I need to lose....Only 9 more pounds!!! Still wish the Dr. had another way of measuring success than just the scale...but at least I'm encouraged!
