  7. Sorry for quoting your post twice , I am replying on my nook and it doesnt seem to be app friendly on here, anyway I also received a letter from cigna stating they didnt see a medical necessity... i contacted my surgery cordinator and she worked with my pcp on a letter that stated medical necessity and i was approved , as a matter of fact I called and found out today .... do not let that letter bring you down ..... I have a sept 17 date and started my pre op liquid diet today.....
  8. Congrats ..... I was also approved today .... yayyyyy
  9. 17th for mee too , first for me as well.....congrats to us all , tomorrow i start my liquid diet.....
  10. I was just approved by Cigna , Initially my paperwork was submitted on August 17th ... Then I received a letter in the mail stating they were missing the medical necessity information ... I then contacted the cordinator on 8/23 and no response I again contacted her on 8/30 where she confirmed she sent the missing info ... Called today and it was approved ... So from when they receive the complete info it took 7 days ... Now I had a date of the 17th and now that might change due to when the approval was received ( 2 week pre op diet ) so well see but the approval process is done .....
  11. My paperwork sent in on August 16th and I received a letter stating that my medical necessity information was missing , So I have been waiting ever since , HOWEVER just called today and I was FINALLY APPROVED for Sept 17th ...... I am so excited , Now I just have to hear from my surgeons office .... I can't believe it , About 5 yrs ago I was denied for the lapband and I had doubts on getting an approval on this but I have been approved ... I feel so relieved ..... Yayyyyyyyyyy
  12. Well it was not an official denial , so I am still waiting ... what I did was provide my surgeon cord a copy of the letter and she immediately started to work on it , however have not heard back as of yet ..... Please wish me luck
  13. I am going through something similar , My paperwork was submitted on 8/16 and I just received a letter from the insurance company stating that they were unable to substantiate medical necessity for the surgery .. My BMI is 43.5 and I have sleep anea and pre diabetic ... Just more hurdles to jump through
  14. Congrats .... I am to submit to Cigna on the 16th of August ..... Good luck to us ....
  15. I am sorry for your loss , May you and your family find solace in knowing he is in a better place ...

  21. I will be finishing up my 6 months insurance requirements mid august ......... will be submitting to my insurance at that last visity for surgery in sept .... Good luck everyone and lets keep our fingers crossed ... We are on our way to the rest of our lives !!!!! :tongue2:
  22. I also faced that exact same problem , I chose the surgeon that was out of network .... My final visit is in august then we submit for approval ....( fingers crossed ) As everyone else has advised .......the experience was what sealed the deal for me ... My out of network is 70/30 ... However I am willing to pay the 30 % ... Like mentioned prior ... It's your future and your life at stake .....
  23. I am sooo sorry to hear that , I also was to have surgery July 9th however due to clause -not on the insurance but on my employer side - I have to wait til September .... Keep your head up .... Maybe for whatever reason it just was not meant to be in July ... waiting a couple of months is better than never having it all... who knows maybe we will both be getting it done around the same time ..
