  1. Just had a check up at my dr's office. My hemoglobin A1C was 6.2 and rising which is considered pre-diabetic. I am now proud to say its 5.5 and I am no longer considered pre-diabetic! Best decision I made for improving my health has been getting sleeved!
  2. Who knew calling yourself a "loser" could be so much fun..LOL
  3. Hi Lady & Welcome! I didn't tell anyone in my family but my husband! He was and continues to be a supportive light in my life. I didn't tell my mom or dad or any family member until I was approved for surgery. some family...I waited until after.. None of my family knew I was pre-diabetic, hypertensive, and have high cholesterol. I am 38 years old and I am considerd morbidly obese...sounds so grotesque when you see it on paper...or electronically in this case! So when I finally told them that I was approved to have the surgery I got an ok from my brother.. Silence from my dad..then an ok.. And a ok from my mom with and are you sure??? This was the very reason I didn't tell anyone! I think that sometimes family fear the unknown which is why I asked my hubby to come to every appt. with me to become educated with me on the process and he did which is why I think he is supportive. Perhaps your family has this same fear..are there required seminars you can attend? Ask your mom to come to a support group and let her see the people who have succeeded. In fact, if she refuses, challenge her to come and face that fear. Let her hear those who had complications but overcame them and have gone on to succeed. Tell your mom to ask questions.. Those people are the ones who can educated her. Bring her to the seminar when you first started...let her look around the room and show her you aren't alone. Let her hear the doctors, the dietitians, the nurses and what they have to say about the process..because they are the "medical experts". Let her hear from people who have already walked the path because they are the "ultimate expert". I feel you are saddened because they aren't supportive. I would then ask them to come and see...and remind the gently that comments can be hurtful if one is commenting without being educated on the process first. And in the end..if they still are unsupportive...you will always have us here. U are one of us now! You are part of a special sorority/ fraternity of men and women who are so full of life that all we want is for our bodies to feel and be better so we can embrace that life we have been given! Good luck on your journey! I look forward to reading about your many success stories to come!!!
  4. Thanks guys ..it was my second nsv...my first was sitting in a seat at the theatre in the middle of the row
  5. Since I was sleeved 4/3 and have lost 39# so far ..I went way back into my closet..just to try on some clothes that I thought may fit. Of course I thought they were the same size I have always wore for the past 7 years....I tried them on and was pleased...yes these fit...but to my surprise..they are a size smaller!!!!!!!! I realized I have not worn these since my daughter was born 11 years ago!!!!! Thank you my lovely sleeve ..I am feeling better everyday! LoL..I always knew I would get bak into them!
  6. I have certainly learned a lot from your posts. Besides, if anyone knows anything or even researched the subject of getting sleeved...we all know there is no set standard because all my information has been different .. Use a straw..don't use a straw ..eat 80 grams of protein per day ..no its 50-60 grams for women...that's not what my Dr. said...wow..you're eating mushies 1 week post op..I had to drink liquids until four weeks out...and the list goes on and on.. Please don't take to heart what someone else's opinion is. It doesn't take away from the fact you won the fight! You are a success and people like me need people like you to tell us how and when and where you did it because you know...it just may work for us too! So please...stay. Keep posting because you never know when you did "just pay it forward"!
  7. LMAO..ooooo I know that felt good! Of course....you are gorgeous..and are way better than him!!! So strut your stuff!!!
  8. Ok..why no gum chewing??? I realize if I swallow the gum which I don't that I will have to go to the ER to have it removed. So other than that...is it because of the swallowing air issue? Does anyone else chew gum???
  9. My name is Piplula and I am a loser. *sits down on the bench*. LOL
  10. You look amazing! The only people who would be unkind are heartless anyway and have to talk about others to make themselves feel good because they normally don't have any self esteem!! So go on girl..wear that bikini proudly!
  11. Hey Mike..hope all went well today!

  14. From what I have recently read with no with no medical reasoning, this apparently is a frequent phenomena. Weird...but who knows. I wonder if it has to do with blood pressure...wonder if someone has read something about it...
  15. As anyone had vision changes. I could not see worth a crap before surgery, but now I cannot see out of my contacts very well at all. I have called my optometrist for a recheck on Saturday. Has anyone else i fed this???
  16. I wonder why they make it so high. I know with the R en Y the protein amounts have to be that high with malabsorption...but with the sleeve..in theory..we shouldn't have that. Would be nice if someone could standardize the recommendation. That makes me wonder if I am getting enough!
  17. I have a question about protein requirements. My RD recommends 50-60 grams / day. I have seen higher numbers too. What's your recommendation?
  18. My goodness! You have been through the ringer! Good luck..I will be thinking of you! Btw...the first 48 hours after my surgery for nausea ..but with everything you have been through....I think your surgery will be a cake walk!!!!
  19. Take the pictures! I did..one month out..omg..there is a difference...take all your measurement..butt ...thigh..arms..waist...neck...I did...hated the numbers...BUT 1 month out I had dropped 11.5 inches off my entire body ..if I hadn't I honestly wouldn't have known. In my mind..I was the same...I am obviously not the same!!!!! Sent from my DROIDX using VST

I was allowed soft solids at 1 week post op....2-4 weeks..I was allowed to chew..now that I'm 6 weeks out I am down 33# and I eat whatever Protein and veg I make myself...with the going out thing..I have a very supportive hubby...I pick the entree...and I get 2 oz of meat and whatever steamed veg is offered and ask for a bread plate..viola..instant dinner..and now I ask for my drink in a to go cup...I got very tired explaining how I can drink when I eat...most wait staff were concerned that I wasn't satisfied..when in fact..I was fine.
