Does anyone know anything about the new Medicaid and which plan is best for the sleeve surgery? I'm not sure of which one I should choose...does anyone have louisiana Medicaid if so which plan did u choose and what are the requirments for surgery.

I have louisiania Medicaid and I've already spoken to a representative, she said as long as I meet the qualifications then they would most likely pay. I hope everything goes well and thanks to everyone for their input.

Hi everyone...I'm wondering what happens on the first appoinment, are you required to bring any paper work? I've been reading many topics and a lot of people had to the six month waiting period or three months, is this required? I'm planning to have my surgery at tulane medical center by charles bellows and they do take Medicaid but I'm unsure about the six/three month diet-nut. Please help me with this one, I would love to hear about your experience.

I have Medicaid and most people say that they don't pay for the sleeve surgery but I spoke to a representative and she said the guidelines just got revised and most likely they would if I meet the requirments, which are a BMI 40 or higher, 18 or older, and three failed attempts to loose weight but I'm just unsure of the six month waiting period. I hope I won't have to wait that long. I wish everyone the best and thanks for your input

I got referred by my doctor and I called the hospital first to see were they accepting Louisiana Medicaid and they told me they were. I also called Medicaid and talk to two different representatives and one told me to find a dr who was excepting it and go from there, as far as I know they do have guidelines but my BMI is a little over 40. The second person I talked to told me I would have to go to the first appoinment and that the surgeon office would send them some paper work and they would see if I qualify, I'm not saying that I'm approved, but I'm hoping that's what will happen

I'm a full time student, I only have two semesters left. my first appoinment is April 24 so my journey hasn't began yet. I'm getting the surgery but I have to remain in school and work. How long after the surgery do u suppose to attend school/work?
