African American Sleevers
Hey ladies, and gents, can any ladies that started near my stats give me your stats? I'm 5'6 currently 280, hoping to be 260 by surgery (July.) So anyone from 260-280 can you tell me how much you have lost, your goal size, your current size and how many months out you are. If you have before an after photos that would be nice too. Also can you tell me about your excess skin? Thanks.

Should I Lose Before Surgery Or Not?
My doctor doesn't require a two week diet. Foxbins cleared it up for me with the example she provided. Thanks all.

Should I Lose Before Surgery Or Not?
Okay, so my goal was to lose at least twenty pounds by surgery time in July. Now I'm 280, and I thought it would be a good idea to lose so there would be less to lose after surgery. I see that you lose a little slower being a smaller starting weight. Disclaimer: I know everyone is different, and weight loss varies. I also notice that within the first six months seems to be the biggest months for loss. I still plan on getting my bike and losing weight but do you think starting bigger will result in a faster weight loss at the start?

I plan on buying stuff in advance a little here a little there. All of my clothes are up to a size 14, so depending on how the pounds are falling by size 16 I will buy some cute L/XL tops from hot topic. By next year I should be there.

Your Over Weight Friends?
I haven't been sleeved yet but I'm interested to find out.I have two overweight friends, I barely see them so even if they were negative it wouldn't affect me if we didn't continue to be friends. At first one of them seemed like she would be jealous, trying to scare me out of it. I'm sure she would prefer we were both big. We shall see and I will keep you updated.

Come On July! Question..
The preop testing. When making an appointment, and I call and to make an appointment will it be separate appointments or three tests in one appointment. When dealing with radiation no children are allowed.

Come On July! Question..
Good to know. Thing is those I know I will need a sitter because of the Xray.. btw are those usually the same day or three separate days?

Come On July! Question..
This is taking forever!!!! I want my surgery already. Lol. Okay, so I've been getting all my appointments out of the way. On the paper that I was given it states that my pre-op testing ( blood work, EKG, and chest xray) should be done within 3 weeks of my surgery date. When I'm done with the that I contact my doctor for my letter of medical clearance 2 weeks prior to my date. After all of that I make a final appointment to see my surgeon 1-2 weeks prior to the surgery date for my preop visit including instructions and prescriptions. So when I called and asked the secretary of my surgeon when I would get a date she said after all of my testing. Does that make any sense? How can I make an appointment for the pre-op testing unless I know the date. I don't know if having those tests done too early would make a difference. My final month of weight management is July, so I would make a PCP appointment for the first of July. I plan to make an appointment for the pre-op testing the first week in July just in case I don't hear from the surgeon's secretary prior to this. She did tell me that my surgery should be in July.. Hmm.. I haven't really fussed because it's still early, but I do like to get everything out of the way if I can and when I have a sitter.

Did You Buy Goal Clothes, If So What Did You Buy, And When Did You Buy?
You aren't that tall. My mom is near that height. I have clothes for up until a size 1x top. I have big boobies so even when I was eighty pounds smaller I still wore a 1x shirt. I was able to get into a xl top from Old Navy, but thats it.

Did You Buy Goal Clothes, If So What Did You Buy, And When Did You Buy?
Well for me, my major goal is a 2/small shirt, but I wouldnt buy size 2's until I was near a size 2 . However I do intend on buying something as motivation that is right in between. I know Im going to fit into a large shirt one day, so I don't see anything wrong with spending $10 on a t shirt.

Yep. I stalled when I was a certain weight despite me being a gym rat. They usually say you have to switch up the routine.

Post Ops: After The Two Years Is The Size Of Food The "normal Size?"
It helped thanks. So it looks like its a child size amount of food. Not bad.

Post Ops: After The Two Years Is The Size Of Food The "normal Size?"
From what I have read ( I cant find it) the amount of ounces held was more than with the RNY.

Post Ops: After The Two Years Is The Size Of Food The "normal Size?"
Well, we should have already seen what is considered "normal size" food based on the food chart/observation. I believe it's a palm size of protein, a cup of carbs, and more veggies. Anywho, what I want to know from post ops that are further along (maybe 1.5/2 years) is the amount of food you eat now considered the "normal" amount or is it still smaller in comparison to what the average person might eat? What I have been doing for a few months is measuring my foods, and using smaller plates. Smaller plates is a great tip, especially if you've always had gigantor plates. My bestie had the RNY, and I have asked her to send a picture of her food to get a visual and it does look smaller than average, but her pouch would be smaller than my stomach.

Did You Buy Goal Clothes, If So What Did You Buy, And When Did You Buy?
I have many mini goals after surgery. I'm still losing pre-op, and I'd like to lose twenty by surgery, so, what I want to know is did you by goal clothes? My biggest goal would be to be a size 2/4, but happy with a 6. However I won't buy those anytime soon, so I figure if I'm going to by something it has to be something I really like, and it would be something I don't think I could get in the future. I can think of many times I passed on something and never saw it come out again. So.. I was thinking about getting one or two pieces of clothing in a large. I think jeans can be bought anytime so I will hold off on those. I figure if I get a large it's not too small or too large, just in case the last twenty takes me forever to get to.
