Medicines
after surgery what form of medicine is best? Can you take the soft gel pills or is it best to stick with regular pills or capsules? If you get sick and need antibiotics can you still take the pills or do you need to take liquid form? I didn't know if the medicine is flushed through our sleeves too fast to disolve in the form of pills or capsules vs. chewable or liquid medicines.

Eating Fast
i have noticed if i eat quickly i get a lot of gas. is this why we are told to eat slowly? I'm a teacher and I only have a 15 minute lunch so eating it slowly isn't a possiblility for me. what reasons are we told to eat slow other than to feel the feeling of being "full" before eating too much. what other physical symptoms can occur from eating too fast?

3 Weeks Out And Still Sore
I am now 3 weeks out and I'm still sore on and off! Some days I feel "normal" and then other days I feel very tender still on the left hand side of where my incisions were. It kinda comes and goes. Anyone else experience this?

Week 7! Very Slow Loser
I'm a high bmi gal. Started at 50.

Week 7! Very Slow Loser
keep your chin up! I am also looking to be a "slow loser". I am 3 weeks out and I've only lost 4. At that rate I'll be at about 8 or 9 by the time I'm at 7 weeks. I wish I had words of wisdom or something to say to make it better but I don't. I'm a bit disappointed with my lack of loss so I now how you feel. Just know that you aren't the only "slow loser". Maybe this will be better for us this way--maybe our skin will have time to shrink with us losing slower. Maybe we won't lose our hair as much. there has to be some hidden blessing!

How Long Till You Took A Bath?
I mean soaking in the bathtub and enjoying it! I want to relax!

How Long Till You Took A Bath?
How long did you wait to take a bath? I am 18 days out. My doc said to wait till the incisions "healed". what does healed mean? There is no bleeding in my incisions and the scab has fallen off of them but they still are redder than their surroundings. I miss my bathtub!

Frustrated!
chasin dreams, I can do you one up. I was sleeved on 3/13 and I have only lost 1 pound! I was 2 pounds down but somehow I miraculously gained one of them back a few days ago and it has not left. Talk about depressing--I paid $13000 out of pocket, and have only lost 1 stinking pound. I'm so frustrated I could cry.

Kinda Feeling Down About My Weight Loss
thanks for the suggestions! I can't have sweet potatoes or any potatoes for the first 80 days out for some reason. I'm guessing the carb content. The only things my NUT will let me eat this week are: string cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt, cream Soups, tuna (I have not tried this yet...), fish (not tried it yet), or deli meat turkey (not tried it yet). I was trying to stick with the foods on the list that were a bit more liquidy and less bulky since I was afraid to break my staples. I do drink 2-3 Protein shakes a day too. It seems like my NUT has progressed my diet options faster than most people. A lot of people are still on liquids only at this stage. how are they losing weight? this is so frustrating!

Kinda Feeling Down About My Weight Loss
I know everyone is differnt and will lose at a different pace. yada yada yada.... But here I am 10 days post op and I'm seeing everyone is postin losses well into the double digits! I have only lost 2 stinking pounds from my pre-op weight! 2 pounds, in 10 days right out of surgery? That seems so abnormally slow. It worries me knowing that everyone seems to hit a stall at 3 weeks. at my rate I will only lose 3 pounds before that stall happens. I feel like this surgery has not been a success. How can I have lost only 2 pounds? I eat 3 times a day. My meal is one of the following: 1 ounce string cheese, 1/2-1 egg, 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese, 3 ounces yogurt. I get around 60 grams of Protein a day. I'm not up to 64 ounces of liquid a day but i always get at least 40 ounces. sometimes 50. I eat my 3 Vitamins a day. what am I doing wrong? I'm very happy everyone else is being so successful but I'm worried at the slowness of my weight loss. This should be the time I'm losing a lot.

8 Days Post-Op
no pain meds for me. I tried them when I came home and they made me want to vomit from the taste. I have been pain medication free for 6 days.

Day #2 Post-Op... Bloated! Anyone Else?
I gained 15 pounds during my surgery from bloating! it came off in about 6 days. Hang in there!

8 Days Post-Op
Ok, how is everyone eating now? I tried cottage cheese and I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese at a time with no problem whatsoever. I did a scrambled egg last night. From what everyone said I was positive I'd only be able to get half of it down but I ate the whole egg! I'm starting to worry this isn't gonna work for me! Who eats the whole egg 8 days out??? I just don't ever have a sensation of "hungry" or "full" at all now. I eat 3 times a day because I know I am supposed to. When I start I'm not "hungry" per se. But even after I eat my portioned food I don't feel any "fuller" than when I started. Everyone says they can feel full after eating solids but I just don't. I never feel any different at all! I'm so confused. How can I stop when I'm comfortably full if I never feel full?? Has anyone else besides me felt this way? Is anyone else confused about their body signals for hunger? gosh...I'm 35 years old. You'd think I'd be able to tell when I'm hungry or full... I feel like a nincompoop!

8 Days Post-Op
desertmom-- Hilarious, I just posted a similar question! I am 8 days out today and just drank an 8 ounce glass of milk in 10 minutes! I was horrified! Seemed like I shouldn't be able to do that! I wansn't even "full"

Worried I Feel Too Good...
Stupid huh? i am now 8 days out and I'm actually worried I am feeling too good. I just drank 8 ounces of milk in about 10 minutes tops! Should i be able to do that? I'm so used to sipping and taking a half hour or more for an 8 ounce drink it freaks me out to be able to drink one in 10 minutes. and there were no cramps or pains doing it! I took several "normal sized" swigs a couple at a time too! Gosh, it makes me worry my sleeve has a hole or something. I don't even feel full! Is this normal?

Egg Salad For Egg Day?
mayo might be bad? my nut had mayo on a list of approved foods to add to tuna/chicken to help it go down. I didn't think of it being upsetting. maybe I'll just try a scrambled one for a while... gosh, egg salad sounds good though!

1 Week Post Op... My Experience So Far
jetpilot, what causes it? i thought it was my sleeve acting up! will it stop? or will this be a continuous ongoing problem?

Egg Salad For Egg Day?
I'm able to start eggs tomorrow and egg salad sounds dreamy! I don't really know how to make egg salad but I think it has mayo/mustard. anyone have a recipe for egg salad they use that doesn't have any harsh ingredients for my sleeve to start out on?

1 Week Post Op... My Experience So Far
are the spasms like chesty pains? I got sleeved the same day as you and I get chesty pains when I swallow something to fast/too much. had it a lot the first 2 days with liquids and then it lessened but it is still there. It does these pains when I try to eat my foods (so far only yogurt/cream soups/cottage cheese) and i wonder if it is me trying to do too much too soon.

8 Day Problem, Need Help Please!
this might be normal. I am 7 days out and I felt great the last 2 days. Only minor discomfort in abdomen. Today I had a few hours where I was getting some pretty strong pains in my abdomen near some of my incisions. they left in a few hours.

Tiny Chest Pains You Sometime Get
Barbie, have they gotten any fewer? I had them all the time the first 2 days and then they slowed and I thought they were gone but they randomly come back now!

When Does The Swelling Go Down?
when does the swelling in your sleeve go down and the sleeve gets to be "healed" for a lack of a better term?

Tiny Chest Pains You Sometime Get
the first few days after my surgery i got tiny little chest pains every single time I took a sip of something. Over the days they got fewer and fewer. I am a week out now and I still get some of those tiny chest pains sometimes. They usually come when I take to much of a drink or stretch/yawn. Do these tiny chest pains ever actually go away or is this something that stays with you forever due to the size of your new sleeve?

7 Days Post Op
great job and congrats! I was sleeved last Tuesday too! My weight loss is nothing compared to yours! I gained 15 from surgery somehow and this morning I finally got down to my pre-op weight so I have lost NOTHING. : ( At least I'm not up anymore, right? I'm finally glad I got sleeved too. I wasn't so happy with my decision 5 days ago!

How Did You Progress Through The Food Phases?
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one so close from surgery eating too much! I'm only 6 days out and tonight I ate a cup of cream soup too! I wasn't even full! Funny how our diet progressions are so different. I was on liquids 2 days, on day 3 I was able to do full liquids (cream soups, protien shakes, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt) and on day 8 I can eat: cottage cheese, string cheese, babel cheese, deli meat turkey, soft cooked veggies, Water packed tuna, canned or deli chicken, any seafood/fish, and canned fruits with no skins! I don't even have to puree them. They just said to make sure to chew to baby food consistency. Even though my doc approves of the above foods at 8 days out I don't think I'll be ready for them. I'm sticking with softer foods for a few more weeks! I might try eating the string cheese and the cottage cheese because I know I can chew those down to baby food consistency, but chicken and tuna!? No way! I still get a lot of gas and a few crampy sensations with my cream soup! LOL
