This Might Be A Stupid Question...
My surgeon didn't put any fluid in my band.

Terrified To Get My First Fill This Week!
Well you guys were totally right about the fill. It was uncomfortable and a weird sensation, but definitely not painful. I didn't expect to feel this weird after the fill though. So glad I've gotten the first one out of the way.

Accountability
Thank you for the words of encouragement. Fortunately my appointment is 8am so it'll be over with first thing in the morning! That pudding sounds yummy. And 10 min walking is good. The important thing is that you just keep moving. Breakfast - 3/4c greek yogurt Lunch - 1/2 pita pizza, 1/4 banana (I had lunch with friends and had trouble relaxing while eating. I find it easier to eat when I am with family or alone.. is that weird? eating in public is more uncomfortable) Dinner - 1/2 pita pizza, 1/3 cup baby spinach, a few tomato slices with 2 tbsp fat free balsamic vinaigrette Exercise - 15 mins recumbent bike and 15 mins elliptical I ate two hours ago and am STARVING again. last night i was so hungry laying in bed I couldn't fall asleep. Frustrating.

Crazy Skinny Goals!
Go into a regular store and buy whatever I want. Go to an amusement park and ride every single rollercoaster without worrying. Go to a waterpark. Wear a bikini. Not be the "fat" friend or "fat" girl at the party. Wear a strapless dress. Teach a zumba class and inspire others to get healthy. Go para-sailing. Run a 5k.

25 In The Boston, Ma Area!!
It's funny how your tastes start to change after surgery. Crystal light and diet snapples make me gag now. Something about the fake fruity sugary taste. It doesn't satisfy me the way real fruit juice does. If only fruit juice was 0 calories. Everything in moderation I guess! Anyways, I'm sorry. The liquids are hell. Have you tried a lower cal low sugar apple juice like Motts for Tots? Have you tried hot tea with skim milk if you are allowed? Remember, this is the hardest part and in a short while you will be able to eat a large variety of food and drink again. Remember why you did this, and stay strong.

Now I'm Scared!
I had the same thoughts. I was emotional one second, then the next second it felt completely surreal. I couldn't believe I was going to go through with it. Didnt become real until they put that IV in and starting rolling me to the OR! Despite the struggles I am glad I did it. God took care of me. The reality of the surgery is nowhere near as scary as what you're imagining. Trust me.

Embarrssing Bathroom Issue
I recently ended up in the hospital because I had let my constipation get to the point that my bowel was obstructed up to my colon. I hadn't had a BM in over a week and thought nothing of it... Big mistake! Continue taking the miralax every couple days and also take stool softeners daily. Up your water intake even more. Try activia, hot tea, and prune juice. if you don't feel comfortable doing your own suppository, don't hesitate to go to Urgent Care and get help before it becomes more serious.

May Bandsters!
Um... ONLY 10 lbs since surgery?!? That's over 2 lbs a week! You are completely on track. You know how much willpower it takes to lose 10 lbs with zero restriction whatsoever? you're doing a great job! I am not exactly sure how much I've lost since surgery day. A couple weeks after surgery I gained almost 8lbs despite following doctors orders. Since then I have lost that 8lbs i gained, plus lost another 1 lb. Happy with that for now. We have to remember the band is slow. If we are losing 1-2 lbs a week, that's a success! Heck... If you're not gaining in the first couple months that's a success.

Do You Buzz Going Through A Metal Detector?
I went on three flights in the past week and had no issue with airport security. Never thought about them seeing my band on the scanner... Lol. Funny.

Accountability
Sleepyone - thanks. Yes, I think now that so many are on regular foods and are healed, they're not on as much. I guess im starting to wean myself off posting as much too, but i still need the support. I have my fill on Thursday and I'm VERY afraid it will be painful. I have fear of needles. Also, I feel like I am learning what and how to eat with no restriction... Once I have it I hope I'm not getting stuck all the time. But I am excited not to be starving every 2 hours. My day.. Breakfast - 3/4cup strawberry Greek yogurt Snack - 8oz skim milk Lunch - 1 mini pita pizza (had reduced fat mozzarella, minced garlic, mushrooms and ground turkey as toppings.. YUM), 2 strawberries Snack - 5oz peach yogurt Dinner - 1/2cup tortilla soup, 1/2cup tilapia with mango salsa It's 10pm and I am starving!!! Water isn't helping. Didn't do exercise. Need to get back in a routine so bad.

Terrified To Get My First Fill This Week!
I have my first fill on 6/14 and I'm so scared. I am afraid of needles and it hurting really badly. I know that's silly considering I just had surgery. I guess I need some reassurance or an idea of what to expect. :/ will it be painful, will I be throwing up after the fill, will I need to be on liquids before/after?

Anybody Cheat While On Pre Op Diet???
No, I never cheated on the pre op diet. Don't even allow yourself to think it is an option. Call your bariatric nurse or doctor when you have a weak moment. They understand how tough this is on patients and are a good support. Hang in there.

May Bandsters!
Wow, that's great! It's funny how much a difference every few lbs makes. I cannot imagine how good I'll feel when I reach my goal weight. My hunger has been pretty bad today. Only staying full for 2 hours at a time. Guess I will have a snack. Hope I feel differently after my fill this week too. Does anyone know if you have to be on liquids the day of/after a fill? My doctor never said anything about that.

Progress?
WOW! I love your story! When I hear how well you are all doing it inspires me to keep going. One month out, I am being social again. I am becoming more physically active. I have not weighed myself in a few weeks but last month I bought size 20 Bermuda shorts... Now the size 18 Bermuda shorts are too big! I went on a cruise and wore a tank top in public for the first time in years. I know the weight loss will slow down at some point but I am starting to feel good about myself for the first time in a long time.

Accountability
Thank you! Looks like you are doing great as well. Where are the other girls?! I am finally back home. Fun trip but anxious to get back on track again. Went to grocery store tonight to pick up fruits, veggies, ground turkey, light dressing, yogurt and whole wheat pitas. Will post tomorrow.

Pizza
I remember at a pre op appointment, I told my nutritionist I was sad at the thought of never eating pizza again. She laughed and said "who said you could never have pizza again? You'll just have 1 piece instead of 4!" that made me happy. Haha. Haven't tried pizza post band yet but I heard thin crust is easier. Cant wait to try pita pizza soon.

Upset
Sorry you are feeling frustrated. I hear cranberry juice helps with UTI's. Also please make sure you are drinking a ton of water.

Overwhelmed, How Do You Keep It All Together?
- Overwhelmed, How Do You Keep It All Together?
Thank you truthfully I lost the majority of that during the 6 month supervised diet. I wasn't super strict on myself but I cut out fast food, pop, and started cooking for the first time in my life. I joined a gym, and made sure to exercise 5 days a week. Now just trying to stick to a strict band diet and keep up the exercise. So far so good.- Overwhelmed, How Do You Keep It All Together?
I agree. I am about 5 weeks post op and the amount of information and opinions out there really can make your head spin. Educate yourself on the basics and remember that ultimately, it's about what works for YOU. Do not expect perfection of yourself.- 3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
Thank you for all the suggestions! I had no idea this was such a common problem with bandsters. I have started taking stool softeners daily, miralax (my doctor said I have to take one if I haven't had a BM in 2 days) and upping my Water. I need to try flax seed. But so far things have been a lot better. Kim, exact same thing happened to me. The pain was excruciating, so I know how you feel. When after several enemas a nurse tells you she has to manually "break up" the stool that's all the way up in your lower colon.... It's not pretty. lol. - Overwhelmed, How Do You Keep It All Together?
