Thank you. I know I need to be patient and follow doctors orders. All these meds on an empty stomach are making me very queasy. I was able to get some mint tea and soup down (just the broth and noodles, too hard to chew chicken) and my sister is bringing me OJ. I had to cancel my fill today and next opening is Sept 26. I hate that I can't exercise or eat my normal foods til this infection is gone. I do not feel its getting any better but the ENT dr will tell me tomorrow. How did your fill go? You guys are doing great.

Thank you for the prayers. At the visit today the Dr said i have a more severe infection than they thought and that it has spread to both ears. She had me do a blood draw and get scheduled to see an ENT specialist on Thursday just as a precaution. She put me on 2 more aggressive medications and doubled my pain med. I still can't hear or chew, but the pain is less sharp. hoping to get sleep tonight. I feel like a crappy bandster, not exercising or eating Protein :/ rescheduled fill for tomorrow. Today - 8oz gatorade Water 8oz orange juice 4oz mashed potatoes with gravy 4oz frozen yogurt Hoping to be able to chew again in a couple days

Did not sleep more than an hour. I can only compare the pain to being stabbed in both ears, very sharp and constant. I have been up crying all night and this morning because I've never experienced pain this bad. I took 2 more Vicodin out of desperation which is dulling the pain from a 9 down to probably a 7. My mom is taking me to the ER shortly. I am also upset because my fill is in 6 hours and I do not want to miss an appointment. appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts you guys may have.

Thanks Jen. Turns out it is swimmer's ear. The pain is awful but they prescribed me antibiotics, drops, and Vicodin. My left ear is swollen totally shut so they're keeping it open with a wick, which absorbs the ear drops. Can't hear out of it still. Eating hurts so much and my glands are swollen. Hopefully it will be better in a few days. Going in for fill in the morning. To be honest I love the amount I have in my band now so don't feel I need a fill, but we will see. Hoping I've hit the 100 lbs lost mark. Today: No exercise Water Gatorade 4oz chicken noodle Soup Keep it up everyone!

Thanks Jen! Great plan to still stick to the program but be able to enjoy the vacation. Well my earache has gotten really really bad. I cannot hear out of the left ear at all now.. It constantly pops and the oressure is horrible. It is painful to chew or move that side of my face at all. So, I am going to just do liquids today. Water, Gatorade, tea and maybe yogurt. Heading to Urgent Care now.

Hi ladies! Hope you all had a good day. I am not feeling too hot as I woke up with a MAJOR earache. It literally feels like I am being stabbed in the ear... It hurts to chew.. I'm hoping this is just a normal ear infection :/ Going for my fill on Tuesday. Whymomwhy - Thanks for the reassurance. Your new pic looks great btw. Skinny Minnie! Jenbass - You are so right. The emotional issues are hard. I have been thinking about moving a lot lately but I know I need to get more comfortable in my bandster lifestyle and work through some issues first. Seems that I always get in my own way. Anyway that's awesome about support group!! One of my weight loss goals is to become a fitness instructor, I love zumba. Good for you for trying something new!! Breakfast - 5oz Chobani lunch - 3oz sirloin (took me FOREVER to chew), 1 tbsp BBQ sauce, 1 grilled pita wedge dinner - 6oz raspberry Chobani with 1/8c Fiber granola Water No exercise today

Fighting Food Today!
It's the worst, isn't it? If people could hear the conversations I have in my head every single day they would think i'm crazy. I may not give in to my cravings (don't think I am ready to indulge in moderation yet) but i am always aware of the yummy foods around me. I will stand in the grocery store aisle for 5 minutes holding an item that isn't healthy, debating whether or not to buy it. And going into a restaurant I used to love is like going into battle. LOL! I am grateful to have these boards where people understand what it's like to struggle with this.

Completely Devastated :-(
Wow. I can tell you are a strong woman and will win this battle. You're in my prayers.

Working Up The Nerve
Hi Laura! I am 3 months post op so new to the bandster lifestyle. Yes, there are bad days sometimes and there are sacrifices. I am still trying to work through some of the emotional stuff that comes with weight loss. Your relationship with food will change, and your relationship with your significant other might too. If you are not 100% sure, that's ok. Talk to your surgeon and bring a list of questions. You may want to go to a support group or therapist. Why not start making small changes now (regular exercise, portion controlled healthy meals) and see where your head is at in a month or two? Personally I have no regrets whatsoever because I feel healthier and better about myself than I ever have. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Failed My Band
That makes me so sad, Doreen. The guilt and depression over your percieved failures in the past all feeds into the bad habits. I know because I did that for years and it is SO hard to break that cycle mentally. Don't give up on yourself. The fact that you are here posting shows that you still want this. Is there a WLS support group in your area you can attend? Are you exercising? I know with your health issues you have pain, but how about walking or water aerobics? I am not sure based on your post what you are eating? Like others said... Start small. Get rid of all unhealthy or trigger foods in the house. Please reach out to your surgeon and nutritionist as they are best equipped to help you. Tell a family member about your appointment and have them pick you up for it so you cant skip out.

Help!! Im Six Weeks Out And Everything Has Been Fabulous..untill Today
Try not to freak out. Things may be up and down for a while. Really 2 lbs is not much... Within a day it's normal to fluctuate between Water retention or eating too much sodium. What kind of foods are you eating? I gained 8 lbs when I went from post op liquids to mushy foods. I was NOT happy considering I had followed my doctors orders exactly. But things stabilized a few weeks after that. There's no point torturing yourself with the scale those first couple months.

Wow a remodel... I can only imagine how busy you are! But as long as you are sticking to the fundamentals, even if it's not the most complicated meal thats fine. I am single and sometimes to cook a full fledged meal only to eat 1 cup doesn't feel worth it, so I'll just make an easy wrap, half sandwich, etc Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 1/2 Arnold's sandwich thin, 1/3c Tuna with light mayo and sliced apples, 2/3 sm banana dinner - 6oz chili with cheese, 3 saltines snack - tea, 6oz vanilla Chobani with sliced strawberries and 1/8c granola in it. Yum

Pre-Op Diet And I'm So Hungry!
For me, the pre op and post op liquids were the hardest part of this process by far! I was constantly irritated, anxious, hungry or crying. LOL. What you are going through is normal. You may want to stay away from people at meal time. Go for walks, look at skinny clothes online, journal. Remind yourself it's only temporary, and soon you will on the road to meeting all your goals. If you have the self control to do this, you can do anything!

Pics Of Oversized Clothes
OMG! You look awesome! I recently donated 4 trash bags worth of my "fat clothes"... It was kind of cleansing knowing I will never wear them again. I did keep my jeans from my heaviest weight and do the cheesy weight loss pose in the mirror. LOL

Thanks! How was your support group? I wish we all lived near each other and could make our own! :-P Mine was ok. I am only 23 and i swear most of the people are there are 30 years older than me.. Which is fine... But it would be nice to have the younger perspective too. And some of the really elderly women dominate the convo to the point you can barely get a word in. LOL! Anyways - The theme was body image. I hate that i have always struggled with very low self esteem. I didn't really learn a lot from it but it was nice to be surrounded by WLS patients who understand the lifestyle and expressed some of the feelings I have. I am going to therapy tomorrow night too. Funny how we think losing weight will automatically fix all our issues, lol.. I still have A LOT to work through. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - Tuna w/ apple slices and light mayo, on 3/4 Arnold's sandwich thin. 2 strawberries dinner - 1 mini wheat flax pita, 2tbsp PB, 1/2 small banana snack - 6oz vanilla Greek yogurt, fruit slices Liquids - Water, 8oz Gatorade Exercise - walked dog 30 mins, 30 mins elliptical The area where I have my largest incision has been aching most of the day. I did do some sit ups so maybe that's why.

Going To Hawaii In 4 Wks
I have flown a couple times this summer with Fluid in my band. I had no problems whatsoever. I've heard of some people drinking hot tea or Water after they get off the plane and before they eat something just to be careful. Have a fun trip and happy anniversary!! Always wanted to go to Hawaii... Looks beautiful.

I Know I Shouldn't Let Other People Get To Me But....
You know, I figured the current gf was overweight. There's always an underlying reason people are threatened by our success. Pray for her, move on, and focus on you.

whymomwhy - When you say drink do you mean alcoholic? Did you find it affected you a lot more now that you're a bandster? my doctor recommends no alcohol the first year but says I can on special occasions. Going to a cocktail party in September and would like a few sips. Navigating parties is so hard now! I think social occasions were my biggest downfall in eating and not taking care of myself pre band... I'd go to potlucks and hit that buffet 2 or 3 times, try every single dessert and have a few cans of pop to wash it down. Anyway, thank you for the motivation!! I am going to support group on Weds and therapy on Thurs, and just trying to be more busy. Breakfast - 6oz mango yogurt dinner - 1 sm wheat tortilla, 1/2 turkey italian sausage, 1 tbsp mozzarella, 2 tbsp tomato sauce snack - 8oz milk Was feeling really sick today (Worst cramps i have ever had) and slept through lunch completely. Tomorrow back on track.

Jennifer, down 2.4 in 1 week is awesome!! Yay! And I'm sure now that you have more restriction you'll be losing at a good rate again. I tried Couch to 5K last week and it was tough for me, but I've started walking and slow jogging. I think I could've done better today with the parties I went to today. I did track my food and stayed within my calorie goal but I still feel disgusted with myself :/ I didn't even exercise today. But tomorrow I am going to exercise and eat very clean so, tomorrow is a new day ! Breakfast - 1/2 pack oatmeal, 1/3c skim milk, 2 strawberries lunch - 3oz shrimp cocktail, 1oz raw salmon dinner - 3/4c beef lasagna, 1 tbsp coleslaw Dessert - 1/3c carrot cake snack (at party) - 3 tortilla chips with 1 tbsp spinach artichoke dip, 1 strawberry, 1/4 slice chicken pizza

Couch To 5K?
Alright... I tried it a few times on a treadmill using the app. I was DYING by 10 minutes in. :/ it wasn't so much being out of breath but it felt like my entire body was being jostled inside and my abdomen started hurting. But... Walked my dog the past 2 days and attempted to mix slow jogging in with walking and found it way better. I will walk a block, jog half block or til I can't go on, and repeat. Made it 30 mins. I guess that's progress? Will revisit the program in the future.

Hi Jennifer. How did the weigh in go? Have you tried doing more or different exercises? 28lbs is awesome! Breakfast - 6oz yogurt with sliced strawberries lunch - 4oz Pork loin, 4oz peach fruit cup dinner - 2oz granola, 6oz Greek yogurt snack - 8oz skim milk Exercise - 30 min walk/jog with dog I was wayyy low on calories today. Just didn't feel like eating much. Met up with friends at karaoke bar for happy hour at 10.. Tons of food and alcohol around me but I just had Water. I was hungry and more food to up my cals for the day probably would've been a good thing, but I just didn't want to slip up :/ I am going to 2 parties tomorrow and know I will be eating unhealthy food this weekend so I'm trying to be balanced.
