  1. I think so. I don't understand how others on this forum lose weight so easily on 500-600 calories a day. My loss came to a screeching halt when my calories went down that low. Sent from my iPad using VST
  2. Hit send too soon. Anyway, my NUT is one of those "just keep doing what you're doing" people and I'm not getting much help from her. I have to eat every few hours because I get so little in that if I only ate 3x day, I wouldn't even get 500 calories. I'm exercising, doing everything right, but just feeling frustrated and rather defeated at the moment. Sent from my iPad using VST
  3. I'm so confused about all of this. During my preop diet, the weight fell off me when I kept to a 1200-1500 calorie, high Protein, low carb diet. Now I'm six weeks out and have been in stalls for four out of those six weeks. The weight is coming off verrrrrrrrry slow post op. I've been trying to up my calories to 1000-1200 to get out of starvation mode, but it's a real struggle Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. Started at a tight 40DD, 37 lbs down and I'm a comfy 38DD. The last time I was thin I was a 36 B/C. Mine have always been dense and in need of support. I think the last time I was at my current weight I was in a C/D cup, so I'm not sure what will happen. I will probably not be a B again but who knows? Sent from my iPad using VST
  5. You have been my inspiration as well, and your journey is what got my fanny in gear to join a gym this week. Thanks for being a great cheerleader and showing us newbies what success looks like! Sent from my iPad using VST
  6. I had hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my VSG. The recovery food restrictions if I had just hernia repair is about the same, so that's what I told people whom i didn't want to know about the VSG. I'm 5 weeks out and so far my story works - and it wasn't a lie. Sent from my iPad using VST
  7. Well, tonight was my first time at the gym in many years. I DID sweat, but it was just normal, exercising sweaty. Before, I would have been drenched and dizzy. This kind of sweat I can handle! Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. I had a stall 10 days out and it lasted two weeks. Be patient, it will pick back up. Sent from my iPad using VST
  9. Yikes! I had to fight with my insurance this week, which is unusual because so far they've been great. My hospital EOB said I would owe an additional $500, when I called BCBSIL they said I was being penalized for not calling pre cert just before surgery. However, I HAD called. Luckily my phone log showed the date/time, with that info they"suddenly" found my call and removed the penalty. Frankly I'm shocked the hospital bill is that high to begin with. That's almost $20k over my EOB. Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. Lissa, that must be what I read too. I just can't find the article again. I can't tell you how happy this makes me feel. This will almost be a bigger life changer than the weight loss. Sent from my iPad using VST
  11. Slow loser here too, but you look fantastic and it sure looks like you've lost more! I just broke a two week stall where I lost no weight at all, but still dropped a full dress size. Betting you will have a similar experience! Sent from my iPad using VST
  12. So, I'm going to consider this a major NSV for me. For the past several years, I've suffered from episodes of excessive sweating. Heat, humidity, crowds, anxiety, exercise, exertion, you name it, I could be completely drenched, especially from my scalp. It's been a horrendously embarrassing experience, to the point where I've avoided social events because of my fear of causing a scene. I've barely gone outside during the summer the last couple of years. FYI, the sweats began before I was terribly overweight (my lowest weight was 154, I remember the sweats starting when I was in the 170's). I could be drenched in sweat just from walking around on a cold but damp day. Anyhoo, I'm 4.5 weeks out of surgery, down 35 lbs to 239, and about ten days ago I suddenly realized that . . . . I'm not sweating any more! In the last week I attended an outdoor garden party in terrible humidity, an outdoor fish fry, and schlepping supplies in and out of an un-air conditioned convention space. Not once have I broken a sweat, even running around in layers and high heels. I even climbed several flights of stairs without so much as a flush. Somewhere several months ago I read that that a hormone in the stomach regulated body temp and that VSG could help "cure" excessive sweating beyond just the weight loss aspect alone. Has anyone seen what I remember reading? Anyone else having a similar experience? I did expect to have some of it resolve with weight loss, but not this early or extreme. Anyway, regardless of the reason or the cure, I'm an incredibly happy camper. I would have had VSG just to resolve this issue alone. Sent from my iPad using VST
  13. As someone who has suffered from extreme lactose intolerance for many years . . . I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! You are handling it exactly the right way. Go completely off dairy for a few weeks, then try to reintroduce tiny amounts of lactose free dairy one at a time and see how you do. 20+ years out from my diagnosis, I can have yogurt and cheese occasionally. Since the VSG process began however, I discovered that the whey Protein drinks break me out in hives on my face, neck and chest. The yogurt and cheese does not give me hives. Go figure. You'll have to find out exactly what your body will and will not tolerate. Oh, and as to eggs - I had a terrible reaction to a scrambled egg a few weeks ago, but soft poached eggs have been no problem at all. I found a tiny "one egg" poaching pan at WalMart that has worked well for me. Good luck to you!
  14. I'm from Biloxi, sleeved by Dr. Avara in Ocean Springs on April 9th. Can't say enough good things about the experience. Sent from my iPad using VST
  15. Soft poached eggs were no problem for me, but a scrambled egg left me miserable for 12+ hours. Sent from my iPad using VST
  16. Thanks for the info! I'm still on mushies and Protein drinks, might try adding some into my Protein Drink. Juice seems to aggravate my reflux right now. Sent from my iPad using VST
  17. At two weeks out I went to Happy Hour with friends and ordered cranberry juice. The bartender made me a vodka cranberry instead - and a strong one. I didn't realize the mistake. One sip and let me tell you that sucker burned all the way down! At three weeks I had a sip of frozen strawberry margarita and it didn't bother me at all. When you do start, start weak and start slow, and stay away from carbonated mixers or beer. Sent from my iPad using VST
  18. Miralax was recommended by my surgical nurse, she said to wait several weeks before using Benefiber because it is a "bulking" product and can swell the new tummy. I cannot seem to get enough Fiber in mushy stage, so using Miralax until "real" food time.
  19. Yes, I've tried baby food a few times. I have to add seasoning to give it a little flavor, but it's really not bad at all. The lasagna is good if you're craving something savory.
  20. I used Benefiber pre-surgery, but was warned by the nurse not to take it for quite a while post surgery because Benefiber is a "bulking" product and can distend a new tummy. She recommended a daily dose of Miralax. It really is flavorless, I add it to Crystal Light and don't taste a thing.
  21. I had a bad experience with scrambled egg last week. Pain and weird feeling in my esophagus for about 14 hours. Won't be making that mistake again for a while. However, I've had a couple of poached eggs that went down just fine. Try poached or hardboiled egg if you are really craving it badly.
  22. I was sleeved 4/9, lost 10 lbs the first two weeks post surgery, then I've fluctuated up and down the same pound over the past week. Net change is zero for the past 7 days. Frustrating but expected. Had my first post surgery checkup today and my NUT said this is completely normal, my body is in shock and starvation mode and things should improve once I can start eating "real" (soft) food next week. Hang in there! Sent from my iPad using VST
