  1. Lynda, I hope I do as well as you. You look absolutely great! (as does your date in your profile picture, lol.)
  2. WOW you are doing great. Doesn't sound like you should have any problems reaching your 6 month goal.
  3. I think I will be about 2 months behind you on getting sleeved. I also have to weight the 6 months and I am 2 months down. It is a good time to get in the habit of small sips, small bites, crew thoroughly, drink plenty of water, give up coke zero, exercise, etc. Hopefully the 6 months will have me well prepared to have the surgery.
  4. Hi everyone. I am in my mid 50's. Hopefully will have my sleeve done in late April - early May. My insurance requires 6 months of Dr. supervised diet. That gives me time to get all of my other paperwork lined out.
  5. WTG - You lost really well pre-op. I have not done so well on my pre-op so far. I still have about 4 months to go, however, so hopefully I get going on this.
  6. The BCBS plan my company has requires 6 months dr. supervised diet. I am almost finished with month 2.
  7. Thanks for sharing and best of luck on getting to goal soon.
  8. I have to do the six months. I am almost finished with two months. 4 to go, then I will fill out your poll. This is required by my insurance, not my doctor.
  9. Thanks for sharing. It is always good to hear a positive before surgery. I'm hoping to have mine around the end of May.

Yeah! Glad you are getting so close! I'm envious, lol.
  11. I started my 6 month pre-surgery diet with my first Dr. visit December 8, 2011. I am about 1.5 months down now. I am using this time to try to get use to adding protein to my diet, increasing my water intake, some exercising every day, and cutting out my vice - Coke Zero's! I am also using this time to try to find out everything I can about having the sleeve surgery.
  12. I talked to someone that lot 160lbs in their 40's and they didn't have to have any surgery, and looked pretty good. They swore it was the yoga they did, and lots of Vitamin E lotion. Worth a try.
  13. Thanks for the update. You are looking great, and an inspiration for those of use that have not had the surgery yet.
  14. Thanks everyone for the support. I will feel better once it is over. I think one of the reasons I am nervous is that about 1.5 years ago, i had a very small outpatient finger surgery. 3 weeks later I felt like i had a bug bite on my bottom. DH looked at it and said it looked like a mosq. bite. One day later I could hardly sit down. DH looked at it again and said he thought I should see the doctor. So, I made an appt. the next day. He said it was a very small boil. Nothing to worry about. He lanced it and told me to come back in two days. I was so sick for the next two days I was miserable. Ran a 104 temp most of the time. Went back to the doctor, and the rushed me into the hospital and did surgery. Two surgery's later and 11 days in the hospital, and I was finally able to come home. About a week later, I was finally able to sit in a chair. Now I am somewhat afraid of surgery. I know the odds are everything will be fine, I just get nervous, lol.
  15. I am new to the forum here, and about 4.5 - 5 months out to surgery. I did my first dr. visit the 8th of December, and have to be on dr. supervised diet for 6 months prior to surgery per my insurance (BCBS). So far have not lost on my diet, but have increased my protien, and started slowly on some exercise. I am planning to have my surgery in Decatur, TX, by Dr. Stowers. Anyone have experience with this facility??? At this point I am excited and nervous. Hoping I have made the right decision. I have had friends so far that are supportive, and those that have to tell me every horror story they know. Some that tell me of friends that have been very successful, and of course all of the failures.
  16. Texas Gal, was your did Dr. Stowers do your surgery? That Is where I am planning to have my surgery. I still have to wait about 4.5 months due to BCBS haveing me on a 6 month diet first.
