    GAY Bandsters

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd start a thread for any gay people who've been bandeds or are about to get it done. I go in on Monday March 5th for mine. I live in Hollywood (land of the anorexic) & have found this site very helpful.

Hey Kim, When a bandster refers to their 'pouch' they are refering to the small stomach created by the band. It's the area between the esophogus and the band. Restriction is the term for how 'tight' the band is. I'll use it in a sentence: I was able to eat an entire chicken breast, I felt no restriction. Hope this helps. BandStar

Hello Marchies, I love the idea of posting pics on here. Wanna thank you all for the support. It's amazing what a little reading on h ere can do. Tammyj you ROCK as always...glad ur doing so well. Here's the weird thing. This band is wierd and amazing all at the same time. At first fill I didn't feel restriction, yet here we are two weeks later and I feel more restriction than before. Go figure. I've decided NOT to get on my home scale...it's what ruined my other attempts at weight loss. I feel like I am eating yet I am losing. So it's all in the mind. This band causes you to sit and think about what you are putting in your mouth. Forces you to eat VERY VERY slowly and chew your food well. After a while you feel it's TOO much work to eat. I am grateful.

Hey GAYS I finally got my fill. I have a question. I think I need to be tighter. I have a 10cc band and they filled it with 5cc. I cannot eat anything in the morning but can pretty much get anything down after noon. I have to eat slowly, but I can feel the 'plop' when the food goes down. After that I still can eat. Should I fill more or should I wait. My doctor says I need to figure it out. I need to work with the band, not expect it to do the work for me. What should I do? Anyone out there having wierd fill sensations?

So here's the scoop. I FINALLY GOT MY FILL. Yay!!!!!! I have a 10cc band and they put in 5cc. I think I need to be tighter. I have trouble getting food down in the morning but can pretty much eat anything after noon. I called the Doctor and he told me that I have to "work" with the band and not expect it to do all the work for me. Working on that as I write. All the drama about waiting so long to get filled was just me in panic mode. It turns out my scale at home is wrong. On the doctor's scale I only gained 5 pounds. What a relief that was? My question to the Marchies is this: Should I tighten the band more?

    Marchies In April

All the Marchies ROCK. Thanks so much. I consider myself a perfectionist and when things don't go my way I tend to freak out. You've made me see that this period of time (in the long haul of it) is just a tiny drop in the bucket. So i've gained a little...not the end of the world. When I get the fill it will come off. Waiting to hear about the fill shouldn't be my sole purpose to get up in the morning. Thanks to the Marchies for being there. tammyj you hold a special place in my heart.

Thanks so much for the concern. I have no idea why they said that. When I finally get to see the doctor, I will find out more and rip him a new one.

Well I haven't posted on her in a while and am on here again looking for help and support. I was scheduled for a fill two weeks ago and couldn't have it done. I walked into the place for the fluroscopy (sp?) and they told me the table wouldn't hold me. I almost died of embarrasment. My doctor knew my weight and told me he forgot that the table wouldn't hold me. Now I have to wait to get my fill in a hospital. I am very fustrated and put back some weight. I was able to keep the 33 lbs off I lost for so long but now 13 have come back. Now I feel like I made a mistake. I can eat anything and everything and have NO restriction at all. HELP ME BANDSTERS!!!!

Hey cherrycoke, I have not had a fill yet and am going through the roof. I went to get it two weeks ago but my doctor scheduled it at a place that the table wouldn't hold me. It is SO fustrating going into a place and having them tell you, you are to FAT to be seen here. I blame my doctor. He knows my weight. So now my fill has to be in a hospital. I haven't found out when. I wish I was at a stand still with my weight loss. I am slowly putting it back on. I can eat and get EVERYTHING down. It's crazy. I can't wait for my fill. Keep up the good work. Not gaining is awesome and before you know it May 9th will be here.

I second Benbax. We do all love ours. Tell your partner I was SO afraid of the port, but was more afraid of having my insides re-arranged. Now, I don't even feel the port. Welcome to this thread. Let us know as soon as you can how everything went. Yay to you.

Thanks Gaychris72. I am still at a 33lb loss for I now feel hardly any restriction. I am not sure when I go in for a fill, but now this is the real hard part. I am hungry and can pretty much get anything down. I think my doc will fill soon enough. I just don't want to gain anything before I get filled. I, personally, think a slow weight loss is SO much better. Better for overall health, better for keeping it off and better to avoid any saggy skin. So keep it up.

BandSTAR is doing awesome. I am now 12 days post op. I have lost a total of about 33 lbs since this whole thing started. I had NO problems with the surgery. I decided to stay the night in the hospital (for the painkillers mainly). Came home to no pain and just a little gas. I went for my follow=up and all is well. The only complaints I would say would be I couldn't take a shower for all this time. My DOC said no way. Finally got to do that yesterday. Now I have some itching because they had to shave my belly (I is a little hairy down there) I am thrilled I did this, so far. I eat a little bit, like a normal person and am satisfied. I hope it keeps up. Thanks Chris for asking. Love ya.
