  1. I went to Wal MART today & couldn't find this magic Bullet thing!! Could someone please tell me what it actually is.. You are right, it is a blender. And yes, it is called the Magic Bullet. I got mine at Walmart here in Michigan. It works great. Every bandster should have one. And I think insurance should pay for it, don't you??
  2. Best of luck to you Dave.!!! Keep us posted on your progress!!
  3. My nutritionist recommended Viactiv chewables. I got the chocolate cherry and they are wonderful! Like a little treat in the morning.. Just have to be careful not to pop them all day like candy..
  4. WOW.. that is one fast in and out surgery!!! Glad to hear you're doing well and hope everyone's goes as smoothly as yours seemed to!!
  5. Margi...From a fellow over 50, Michiganian, soon to be banded... HI!!! We're driving to Port Huron from Alpena. It's a 4 hour drive, but worth it, I'm sure. I went to Hurley for a bariatric consult years ago. We were given pills and of course they worked for awhile, then I got a reaction and we had to stop and all the weight came back. We had a run in with a doctor at Hurley. He isn't there anymore. That's why we chose Port Huron.. that and it's a Center of Excellence. I sure will let you know how everything goes. Just 6 more days until it's done and I can get on with a new life!!!
  6. Tons of prayers headed to the people getting banded today. We're all anxious and envious at the same time. Safe surgery, speedy recovery and enjoy the new you!!! Oh and don't forget to post when you can. We're all waiting to hear!!! That's the fun part of this board. COMMUNICATION!!!! & SUPPORT!!!!
  7. Just got a call back from the nutritionist and she said.. NO protein shakes. I should get enough protein from the yogurt. She said if I felt I needed extra protein to get the powder that mixes with water.. YUCK!! I said no thank you, I'll do just fine on the yogurt!! Course you have to remember this is what MY doctor and nutritionist require. Obviously everyone's is different, but I'm so thrilled that I won't have to worry about gagging down some protein powder. Course when I get really hungry I'd probably love to just chew on the container the stuff comes in!!
  8. OK.. here's the thing. My doctor doesn't require protein shakes post surgery. He and the nutritionist say that the protein will come from yogurt and/or skim milk the first two weeks post surgery (clear liquid phase). I just put a call into the nutritionist to comfirm that cause I read in just about everyone's post about protein drinks..
  9. I hate to admit it, but I'm not the least bit nervous. At least I'm not allowing myself to be. Hubby is extremely supportive as are my kids. I've been wanting gastric surgery for years and years, but never had the courage to do the bypass route. Once I found out and researched the lap band, I knew it was for me.
  10. Welcome Jullee71!!!!! Are you sure you don't want to change your date to the 10th?? I NEED a banding buddy! :biggrin1:
  11. ANOTHER VICTORY FOR TRACY!!! :clap2: You go girl!!!
  12. I'm getting a little paranoid here.. wish I had a banding buddy!! I'm the only one on the 10th? Is that a good or bad omen?? I am sooooooooooooo ready for this. No preop diet except to lose a few pounds any way I choose. I'm going the low/no carb, high protein route. Did my Curves yesterday and got weighed and measured so I know what my starting point is as far as inches. Prayers and best wishes to all those getting banded this week. Sure is great to hear from those who have had it done recently and hear their stories. One week from today at this time I should be a bander!!
  13. TO ALL THOSE THAT ARE GETTING BANDED THIS WEEK. YOU ARE ALL IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. WISHING YOU SUCCESSFUL SURGERIES, LITTLE OR NO PAIN, FULFILLING LIQUID DIETS:phanvan AND BIG SMILES WHEN YOU SEE THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW YOU!!!!! :girl_hug: :clap2:
  14. Sara.. you'll do GREAT. You are just about equal in height and weight. I'll be anxious to hear how you do!! You have all our support and we'll be thinking of you as you begin your new life!! Judy
  15. Still trying to access the spread sheet to put in my stats, but all it does is highlight the box.. won't let me put anything in.
  16. My husband is a Congregational UCC minister and he said if you were a parishioner he would say to you.. "don't do anything that is going to harm you". He said you do not have to take communion in both forms. I will have to do the same thing after April 10th. Maybe just take the tiniest crumb?? Do you have intinction every time?? We have the bread and the cup separately, so it won't be a much a problem for me.
  17. I joined Google to be able to edit the spreadsheet, but I still can't do it. I can get in and highlight the boxes, but it won't accept any typed numbers..
  18. Well, I just got back from my pysch eval and it went extremely well. I had done my homework and there was no way he couldn't approve me! The letter will be sent early next week and after meeting all the criteria, I'm good to go for surgery on the 10th!!
  19. Hi there Sue.. Welcome to the board. I'm going to be banded April 10th. I have my psych eval. tomorrow and that is the last of the hoops to jump through for the insurance. I can't wait to have the surgery behind me and start my new life. We'll be traveling to Port Huron, about 4 hours away, to have the surgery done. Judy

  22. Well, I started the process in January so it's been very, very quick. I just have the psych eval next Thursday and then I'll be done with all the testing. My surgery date is all set and I'm ready to start my new life!
  23. Check out this website.. it's about one of the doctors in alma with all the testimonials about him.. http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+testimonials+Ernest+Cudjoe+mlc.html You should be able to just click on the link and it will take you there!!
  24. Way ta go!!!! Great to hear everything went well. Keep up the walking.. it will help everything. 18 more days and I'll be where you are!
  25. Good afternoon all..... I see that I have 25 pages of posts to look through to get acquainted with everyone on here. I just had my blood work and ekg done today. All that is left before my April 10th surgery date is the psych eval. Hubby just had his and they tried to talk him out of the surgery. Told hubby he wasn't fat enough...... sheeeeeeeeeesh. Our PCP is in favor of both of us having this surgery done. You'd think he'd know what he was talking about after having been our doctor for 23 years!! Anyway...I don't have a pre-op liquid diet.. doc wants me to lose weight, but doesn't care how. So next week I'll start the no carb route and see how I do with that. I'm really anxious to get this surgery done so I can begin my new life. Hubby has to wait at least 14 weeks for a pre-auth. I'm praying he gets approved too. Off to start reading the 25 pages.. yikes!! Everyone have a great afternoon!!
