  1. I weighed every day. Ive lost between .75 and 1 lbs each day post op. Im gonna lay off the scale for a while though.
  2. How many calories are you guys eating? Right after surgery I was eating between 300-500 calories a day ... now Im a week out from surgery and Ive been eating between 800-900 calories a day. Is that too much? Im steady on Protein shakes, Soups (broth and cream), applesauce, pudding (sugar free and regular) ... oatmeal, cream of wheat ... I would love some potatoes or ground beef or tuna or something! Ugg!
  3. excellent news!!!! congrats! what kind of jeans were they bc I need help in the booty dept too
  4. Della, I tried to get in at least 60-70 grams of protein a day via protein shakes. If i got way too hungry I would drink some crytal light. But sometimes I feel like I needed something to chew. I make a caesar salad of only romaine lettuce and low carb caesar dressing. That did the trick. Sometimes I would also have about 1/2 can of tuna with a little mayo since it was also protein. Don't eat any bread, potatoes or carbs though during this pre-op diet. That will set you back.
  5. Looking glass. It's good to know the particulars about the swelling. I want some real food so bad after being on that 2 wks pre op diet ... but I'm def not gonna jeopardize my band. I put too much time into it. I'm doing better today I guess. I haven't had any vomiting and I've been sipping very slowly.
  6. I've had tonsilectomy and I don't think I threw up ... But now that I think back on it I may have. I remember some type of pain in my incisions in the back of my throat bc of the acid that was coming up. Then I had jaw alignment surgery . I threw up as soon as I woke uP. Yesterday they gave me An anti nausea patch and some nausea meds in my IV. I still threw up. I think I'm doing much better now and thanks for all of your concern. I hope they will find some relief for you so that your process goes smoother.
  7. Judy I sipped about 0.25 oz at a time. I asked for a different medicine last night but it gave me no Pain relief whatsoever. So this morning they gave me another 1mg of the dilaudid (or however you spell it). I hope it doesn't cause more nausea or vomitting . Otherwise I feel that I'm doing really well. I've been up and moving and walking and it's really helping the gas. Idk what I would do without you guys support! Luv you guys !
  8. I had 2 oz of broth. They told me to sip it out of medicine cups. It came back up within 30 mins. I haven't vomitted since but I've only been sipping Water . I hope Breakfast goes better.
  9. LisaNj , Yvonne, Dee, I got banded today! I've already vomitted the chicken broth I had ... No bueno. Now I'm having the worst tightness in my chest . Its annoyIng to breathe and talk. I'm making some little tiny burps but no big relief there. My incision bandages are pretty small so I'm guess the scars may be small too (fingers crossed). How are you guys doing??
  10. I'm 14 hrs Post op right now. I'm having this severe tightness in my chest and stomach. I've walked a bit but the pain meds make me dizzy so walking is difficult. I asked my surgeon this morning if there would be any fluid. In my band initially and he said no. Ohhhhhhhh I feel miserable. I'm glad I know I'm not the only one with these pains.
  11. I'm in Baltimore. Getting banded at Northwest Hospital this week. Email me sunshyne068@yahoo.com
  12. 1. wear a tucked in shirt without an obvious muffin top 2. not have to order the majority of my clothes online 3. go to pole dance class and be able to do advanced moves 4. wear a backless shirt or dress 5. not have my thighs rub loudly together when I walk
  13. I cant wait until Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, Old Navy "Women's", Macy's "Woman's World" and the like arent my go-to stores anymore. I dream of the day that I can go to H&M or the regular section in Forever 21.
  14. Soooooo .... during this liquid diet (im only 1 half week through it) every time I need to chew something, I make a caesar salad with minimal dressing .... is that bad????? Otherwise Im eating low carb high protein shakes and crystal light.
  15. Hey Rell how are you doing, post band???? how do you feel? are you in pain?
  16. I live in Maryland. I am very lucky that the BCBS center of excellence for bariatric surgery is only 20 mins from me. The surgical director has a very good reputation. I'm on a liquid diet for pre-op but so far Ive been drinking 2 protein shakes and having a meal. If I get too, too, TOO hungry, I just eat a salad of only romaine lettuce and some dressing. I started the protein power diet earlier this month and lose 5 lbs.
  17. Steph and MissManders, my date is march 9.
  18. Lisanj and Yvonne we're getting banded on the same day! Can you send me your email addresses or FB page info? I wanna reach out to you guys on the 10th or 11th and see how everything went. I started my liquid diet today [i went to medeival times last night]. My job kinda made a big deal about my extremely generic Dr's note. But since I'm only using 2 days of sick leave (I have credit hours and Im gonna work from home 2 days to make up the full week of recovery time) they really couldnt ask me for additional info.
  19. It may not be easy .... but if it's right for us then that's our decision. Don't let them discourage you.
  20. I went to the hospital yesterday to attend a pre-op class led by a bariatric nurse. She told me that taste buds DEFINITELY change after surgery. She had gastric bypass and said she experienced it. One person in attendance had gastric sleeve and said the same thing.
  21. sounds like you know what to do ... go back to weighing and measuring and eating healthy. its mind over matter.
