  1. Not sure how my job will like me taking off the two days before a break. It is a no-no to take off the day (let alone two days) before a break. My surgery is 3 hours away from me b/c no one locally would even consider the lap band for me (my BMi is 51 and they don't do them over 50).. I cheated already I had a very small grilled chicken breast today at lunch. Its so hard cooking for the kids and seeing/smelling all of it and knowing that you can't touch it.
  2. I am not suppose to make my protein shakes with milk of any kind. Only water. No solids here only liquids. If you add protein to your SF pudding, how much pudding mix do you add?
  3. Thanks! I am nervous and excited all in one big ball!!
  4. Hi I found out TODAY that I was approved by insurance and my surgery date in March 9th!! My pre-op diet starts today! I am worried about failing and gaining weight. I've been low carb, high Protein dieting for 2 months now and have gained 2 pounds :-p Seriously? I diet and gain weight
  5. Hi everyone! I just found out today that I am approved and my surgery date is March 9th!! Therefore, my pre-op diet starts um, today! :-p I was hoping my surgery would be during spring break (I'm a teacher) but the 9th is the day before Spring Break begins. I haven't told anyone at work and I don't want them to know yet. They keep asking why I have been taking off so much and I avoid answering. Thinking I am going to use the hernia repair surgery for now. My Dr's office requires that I use Bariatric Advantage protein shakes. Has anyone tried these? I can barely get 1 down a day I don't know how I will get 4-5 a day.
  6. Thanks all! I found a surgeon that is 3 hrs away who will do the procedure for me. He had no issues with my BMI. Only thing he didn't like was I add soy milk to my protein shakes. So due to my work schedule, I will be banded on March 13th! I am excited!
  7. Hi, I am new here. I am not banded yet but really want to be. I have seen the only two Dr's in the 25 mile radius that do the lap band with my insurance and neither of them will band me due to my BMI (52). I have to lose 20 pounds before I am eligible with one and the other just won't do it. My insurance doesn't cover the sleeve and I refuse to get the bypass (only cause I am terrified of it).. I don't know what else to do to try to lose weight. My meals consist of : Protein shake for breakfast Protein Shake for lunch (some days I eat veggies with it) low carb/low sugar dinner (eat protein, first) This is my pre-op diet (which I thought would help but hasn't yet). I workout every day anywhere from 45 min- 90 min. Anyone have advice??
  8. Gosh this is me! Between the Dr's office troubles I am having and not losing weight, its all driving me crazy! I have been exercising for a month and so far nothing!! I've cut out all sodas (even diet sodas), been doing the pre-op diet (for the past 2 weeks. However, I haven't lost anything. I need to lose 15-20 pounds before I am allowed to have the surgery (due to BMI too high by their policy).
  9. Thanks for the reply! My current addiction is Sugar Free kool-aid. I can drink quarts of it a day by myself.
  10. Evening! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Yvonne and currently needing to lose weight before I can get scheduled for surgery. My BMI is too high so I need to lose about 20 lbs. I have been working on losing for 3 wks now and only down 1 pound I have added 30 min of exercise a night and cutting back on carbs. I am here to start creating myself a support group, recipes, weight loss ideas, etc. **Editted to add** Guess I should add more to give more of a background. I've been pretty discouraged by 2 PAs who said the lap band would not work for me due to my BMI (50) and diabetes. So I have been pretty beat up (so to speak) by negativity in my decision to get the band. My insurance will not cover the sleeve and have a friend who has had a lot of bad side effects from the bypass so the Lap Band seems to be the best choice (to me anyways) despite the lack of support from the Dr's office.
