  1. Count me in too! Despite knowing I'm doing the right things, my scale stopped moving too...5 weeks now! So thank you Spatters, you're absolutely right. This is where we used to give up, but this time IS different! To combat my frustration, I went thru my closet and tried on clothes. LOL My closet is now half empty with clothes I can no longer wear (without looking rediculous). That made me feel so much better. Thanks for the encouragement and support. We really can do this together.

    Wls 2/13. Scale Isn't Moving:(

I feel exactly the same way. The only thing that keeps me going is that with as little I eat, my body has got to catch up at some point. My clothes are getting baggier so something is happening. It's hard to not see the scale move after all this work. I think my biggest surprise is that I thought I'd lose more quickly.

    Falling Into The Stall Trap

i had a 3 week stall that was driving me nuts. First I thought I was eating too much(don't know how that's possible) then I thought I was eating too little. So, I upped my Protein and Water and now the scale has started moving again. I think my body thought I was starving. I guess I should expect this to happen often on this journey. Just don't give up hope! Kris

I am thankful for breaking thru my plateau after 3 weeks of a stall! And ever so grateful for this new life.

    Never Too Late

I know it feels discouraging and I was the first time I hit a wall but your body will adjust and then the pounds will come again. Just keep doing the right thing and the scale will move again. I've been in a rut for the last 2 weeks, going up a pound, down a pound. I just stopped weighing myself every day and will try once a week (and maybe walk a little more to give it a nudge) LOL

    Never Too Late

I had my surgery at Valley Hospital too (Dr. Beth Schrope). Wonderful doctors, wonderful staff, wonderful nurses, wonderful hospital. You're gonna do great!

    Never Too Late

I'm also just around the corner from 60, so you're not alone in this...it also seems we live in the same area. I had my surgery at the end of November and am so happy with my decision!
  8. Hi! I had Empire BCBS and my plan did not require the 6 months supervision. My BMI alone did not qualify me for the sleeve but I had co-morbidities which did qualify me. Between the high blood pressure and arthritis that tipped the scale. I had to jump thru a bunch of hoops (stress test, psych eval, h-pylori testing, nutritionist) but my Doctor's office was fabulous in submitting all the paperwork. Every insurance company and every plan is different. Good luck!
  9. My name is Kris and my surgeon was/is Dr Beth Schrope and the surgery was performed at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood NJ. Best, very concerned and attentative Surgeon in a facility that is sensetive to the patients. It's like checking into a hotel. Best care and consideration I'd ever had. I was there for 2 nights and just rested up for a few days then was off and running;. I actually gave her a hug today for saving my life. I'd do it all over again and will recommend her to anyone who needs suggestions. She's the best! I'm soooooo glad I found her!
  10. I think it all depends on where you start and how much weight you have to lose. I've been wondering the same thing myself because I've lost 22 pounds since Nov 30th and am also stuck for the last 2 weeks. I see my doctor today and will check with her, but considering my goal is 80 pounds, I'm more than 25% there in less than 2 months. I still struggle with the protien (and drink shakes) and work really hard to drink enough liquids. But I trust that my body is going to adjust and the weight will continue to come off.
  11. Have you tried chicken boullion? That was the only thing that I managed to enjoy sipping the first week or so. I also take my meds first thing in the am. Hold on, it gets better! I'm 5 weeks out from my surgery. Still get a little queezy after I eat but not so bad any more.

    Regret

I don't know what's going on, but maybe you should talk to your doctor and mention the depression. But if you want to talk, we're all here for you. I'm a single woman and doing this on my own so I know it's not easy.
  13. Congratulations! You've taken the biggest step and now the healing and your new life begins!!!

    Nerves Gone!

I had my surgery on Nov 29th and I can't believe the changes already. I started at 210 and the scale was 195 this morning. AND my doctor has already taken me off 2, count 'em TWO blood pressure meds!!! Absolutely no pain in my belly, the 5 little incisions are healed. It's the best decision I've made in years! Best of luck to you, I know you'll do well!
  15. Prayers on the way! We're all with you. By now, you're probably in Recovery. Hope it all went well and the journey is an easy one.
  16. We seem to have so many issues in common. Somehow, knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way is comforting. I also don't have access to a pool but I am doing the same as you - keep moving at home and at work. As I'm sure you know, some days it's tough to push past the pain and this cold weather is no help! Maybe I should have asked Santa for a Wii!!!
  17. Hello Everyone. I was feeling very alone today and luckily found this site! I had my sleeve surgery on Nov 29th by Dr Beth Schrope. The surgery went well and recovery is coming along too. I guess I should back up a little, I'm 59 years old, 5' 3" and was 210 pounds presurgery. This takes some getting used to. I smile every time I look at a "portion" size and shake my head. I find I'm having a hard time getting enough Protein and have still been using the shakes to reach my goal every day. The reason I was feeling down today was I've noticed the last few days the scale was going up! I was down to 196 but today was 198. I noticed on here that it's not so uncommon? I think I'm going to follow some of the advice posted and stop obsessing and weigh myself weekly. I know I'm sticking with my plan. Does anyone have any ideas for exercise options? One of my biggest issues is arthritis. My knees, hips and shoulders are shot. Getting the weight off is one of my goals so I can become more mobile again (without opting for any more new joints). I know I need to move but at least for now, the arthritis pain is winning over the exercising. I am open to ANY ideas for me to try!!! Thanks for all the great advice.
