  1. Keep up the good work everyone!!! I see some have hit underland and some have boosted up the WL during this goal, awesome job everyone!
  2. I recently read something that someone wrote on another VGS site that I’d like to share, she said “ This tool (VGS) is like hiking down a hill, and some people will take a more scenic route and some will run down to the bottom quickly, but in the end we will all reach the bottom of the hill” so try not to panic and go back to the basics when you feel you need to.
  3. I love this saying “Just because your weight isn't shrinking, doesn't mean your waist isn't” it’s going to be my WLS mantra for the next week, thank you!
  4. Wow, this is a great motivation! Congratulations!
  5. Isn’t it a wonderful feeling?!?!?!? You keep rocking that sleeve all the way to goal!
  6. Lorraine, I have struggled with that also and truthfully I still sometimes do, but it’s much better these days. Now I just need to eat slower and find Vitamins that both my sleeve and I like ( just order wellness liquid vitamins https://wellessebariatric.alice.com/ fingers crossed that I can tolerate them)! OMG 100 pounds in a year you should be very proud, keep up the good work and you will get to goal, its possible!
  7. Welcome you will love this site, very supportive group of people! It looks like you’re a year ahead of me. I had my sleeve done 12/1 /11 I’m down 50 lbs. Do you have any advice to offer?
  8. I had coffee and a cake donut at a 3 ½ hour long meeting Wednesday. I eat the donut in batches of 3 it took about 1 ½ hours and I had no real issues I felt the restriction and wasn’t over full, however by the end of the day I had to go to the bathroom (TMI) because my stomach felt upset, I thought I would have diarrhea but I didn’t. So what I learn is that donuts can be done with my sleeve and I get restriction but shouldn’t be done because of the tummy issues.
  9. This week I hit 51 pounds down from my surgery date, and I posted some pictures! I think I can reach my Easter goal of 229! Surgery Weight: 287 Current Weight: 238.1 Easter Challenge Goal Weight: 229 Feb. 10: 249 Feb. 24: 246 March 2: 238 March 5: 236.6 March 8: 238.1 March 23: March 30: April 6: Easter:

  11. I'm craving Subway Tuna also I think I pick it up after the gym!
  12. I love your lessons list, and thanks for reminding me that with the sleeve I am in the midst of a total life make over! Keep up the good work!
  13. I just had my blood work done and I am very low in Iron, Vitamin D and Thymine, the nutritionist suggested that I try a liquid or powder, I am looking and BariatricChoice and tropicaloasis but I wonder if there are any suggestions for liquid or powder Vitamins that you all like out there? These are the vits that I am considering http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-liquid-vitamins-139.html http://www.bsciresourcecenter.com/proddetail.php?prod=BA-LiquidVitamin http://www.bsciresourcecenter.com/proddetail.php?prod=BSCIFR-FERRIRONLIQ http://www.bsciresourcecenter.com/proddetail.php?prod=BA-TRO http://www.tropicaloasis.com/Tropical-Mega-Multivitamin-p/33460.htm
  14. A size 10 and 178lbs these are 2 wonderful victories for you, way to go!
  15. Happy surgiversary , it’s amazing what a difference a year can make congratulations and what an inspiration you are to all of us under a year!
  16. wow you look so good keep rocking that sleeve!!!!
  17. Check with your old insurance about follow up care and also call your doctor’s office and see if they won’t offer you a sliding scale fallow up appointment. Don’t get down on yourself for a 6 pound loss that is very good! It sounds to me like you need to find a support group that you can go to in person to help you stay on track and stay motivated.
  18. I know how you feel. The scale is difficult for me to handle so I try to limit when I use it and stay focused on all the positive changes that are taking place in my body and life. Try to find the NSV out there for you. Also you may want to start a measurement log, to track your inches. Good luck, and know that the weight will come off!
  19. I liked the article and agree that historically we (African American women) have been flooded with images of what is considered ideal or the standard of beauty in America, such as long blond hair or having blue eyes, and few of us could relate to or achieve these standards, and so we have overtime had to establish our own standard of beauty and have embraced our features. And while there is no one standard body type for African American women, I think that on average African American women tend to be curvier, or “thicker”. With all of this being said I do think that it is important that in today’s society that we address obesity and living at a healthy weight as a health issue and not just as a cultural standard of beauty. While African American woman embrace our curves we also need to deal with the facts that diabetes is a leading cause of death among middle-aged African-American women, and African-American women develop high blood pressure earlier in life and have higher average blood pressures compared with white women and that African American women face a higher risk for sleep apnea compared with white women. Curvy is one thing and Obesity is another. I think we all need to embrace our body types and love them pear-shaped apple-shaped whatever, and trust me I know this is easier said than done.
