Hey Angee I'm glad your surgery went well. There was one lady when we had surgery that was in a ton of pain. There were 7 of us that day and none of us were too bad off except for her. I didn't have any real pain either. Hope you are home and happy now!!

I was a diet coke and coke zero addict BADLY. I was also type 2 diabetic as of August last year. There may be a link between the soda and of course it was genetic as my mother was diabetic in her 30's as well. Does anyone else drink the Sobe 0 cal waters and 0 cal vitamin waters? I really like those

Congratulations on your weight loss. I am worried too about the mental part. I can understand how your eyes still want to eat the big meals but your tummy won't let you.

Wow. Unless the person cannot physically carry out the duties required to do the job, I don't see why their weight would get in the way. Also, unfortunately, America is getting fatter every year. They are going to have a smaller pool of candidates and may pass up some amazing nurses because of their weight. They may choose a smaller, less experienced nurse over an outstanding larger nurse who does the job very well. Pretty sad.

Wow, I am so sorry you are going through this! My kids and husband went out to eat with me a couple of times since surgery and I have to admit I am lucky. They have been curteous and realize I am going to take longer to eat. They haven't tried to eat my food. I let them know I'm going to box some up and take it home and save it for later. I don't blame you for not going out to eat with your family anymore. I hope you guys can get it sorted out. I don't know how I would deal with a husband who won't discipline his daughter. It is too hard for a stepparent to do the discipline unless you were there raising her from the time she was really little. I really wish you the best.

Hey guys I will be two months out from surgery in about a week. I am very curious about what you guys are eating who are at the same point or what you WERE eating when you were two months out. I have heard from many people that there is staple line leakage accompanied with serious vomiting issues. I don't know how much of it is from the band that was placed but I do know some of it is from the staple line itself. I think it's a combination. I've read that the staples weren't always reinforced 10-15-20 years ago like they are now. One lady I know had VBG in 2000 and now in 2012 she has the staple line leakage and the severe vomiting. She is desperate to get a revision surgery or whatever they can do. I feel so bad for her. I personally think that the problems are combined complications from the banding, the staples not being reinforced like they are now, and simply just bad luck. One weight loss surgeon I saw said that....believe it or not...they stopped doing VBG due to ineffective weight loss and that as many as 1 in 50 of their patients years and years later developed the staple line leakage. However, even still that is staggering. If you read the forums, you will see many reports of this issue. Don't get scared though. I really think that the sleeve's staples are done so much better now than they were then and plus we don't have a band. So hopefully this will not be a major problems for us sleevers. Surgery methods and staples have improved drastically since VBG.

I think your fears are normal. I almost didn't get on the plane to leave! I got some irrational fear. Before my plane took off, I literally was thinking about not boarding (when I was in the pre boarding waiting area). Once I got to my destination, I was fine. I felt like I was on this journey and I had made up my mind to be healthier and happier. I really hope it all works out for you. I hope you report back here that you are all good after your surgery!

Great question! I am a little worried though. Have you guys heard of vertical banded gastroplasty or "VBG" also known as stomach stapling surgery. I have been reading many forums and threads online about people who are 10-12 years out and their staples start giving them serious issues. I hope that this doesn't happen with gastric sleeve when people start becoming 10 or more years out from surgery. I am hoping the newer technology prevents that from happening.

You may just be a slower loser. I know it's coming off slow but maybe that is just the way it may be since you are tall and getting closer to goal? It is a bit confusing to me. I can understand why you are confused as well. Be honest with yourself, how many cupcake moments have you had? YOu don't have to tell us. Admit it to yourself. If that happens quite a bit, it can sabotage your weight loss. They go down easy like cake. I really think you should track calories and always eat Protein first. Also, you may not drink from a straw or consume soda or caffeine, but you don't drink with meals right? I really feel you on this and I don't blame you for anything. Just analyze your eating habits and following the old "sleeve rules". They are in place for a reason. I am sorry you are trying and not losing it as fast as you want.

Hey there! You are so young but you know I feel if your weight is out of control now, it's a good thing to fix it if you can before you get older. Dr. Alvarez does do surgery on teens but you might have to pay for it with your own money. Ask your parents to call Dr. Alvarez's office or email him. He has a channel on youtube under endobariatric and even did the surgery on his 12 year old niece! She has lost a lot of weight and looks happy! I think it would be a good choice to explore this surgery as long as your parents are ok with it.

OK, so I've seen the term NSV ho a few times since joining this site. Share why you are an NSV ho and what your BEST NSV has been since your gastric sleeve surgery. Bring it on! let's have fun with this. So far, my best NSV is that my pre-surgery jeans are almost falling off now :-)

I've never heard of it happening but I would bet that some people have. I know on another gastric sleeve forum I was on there was some naughty webcam play going on between a married lady and another sleever! LOL!

I say go for it! You want to lose weight and keep it off. You have battled weight problems all of your life. That is VERY frustrating and you deserve to try something that will help you keep it off long term. Best wishes to you! I've heard great things about Dr. Garcia!

I have seen a lot of band over bypass surgeons in Mexico. It is more common than you think. I am not a big fan of the lap band, BUT I've seen it work for some people. Maybe it will help out Carnie. Portion control is obviously her problem. I, too, have heard of stomaphy X and I would think that it would be getting popular for GBP patients who have regained a lot of weight.

This is a great and interesting thread! I think that the amount you can eat at a sitting two years out is going to be something we want to explore. It is obvious our sleeves adapt and can handle eating more. It is scary but good if you consume the right foods. I am only 7 weeks out and I already have learned about slider foods. I ate some wheat thins with tuna and I realized I ate far too many wheat thins. Those sliders realy can sabotage weight loss! I have to only grab a couple now because if I bring more I can eat them. Pretty scary! I know what everyone means about slider foods being dangerous to weight loss.
