Hey hon I asked my doctor about a drain because for some reason having a drain scares me the most, more than the surgery lol! A drain is placed to collect any excess fluid and essentially "drains" it out. I think fluid and or blood but I'm not a medical practitioner so its best to ask your doctor. My doctor said he doesn't do drains unless there are clots or if its not properly healing that he's worried about but he doesn't ever do it. Whew!

Great post & thanks Dr. Oz I feel that when it comes to getting surgery and needing this tool, then its a first step to changing your life for the better. I know I don't like feeling unhappy and worried about my weight and what health problems this is causing. I remember I was asking a nurse a few questions about vitamins and she asked what I was here for and I told her I am getting the vertical sleeve and she was giving me her opinion and said not to take the easy way out and to work for it! I was like I don't recall asking for your opinion...any who I respectfully thanked her and walked away. I learned quick to keep this private. I go to support groups, discuss with this forum and communicate with my bariatric team, I am aware of what I am doing and I am ready. I want to be healthy and want this tool, I want to live.

Oh no! Good luck, take extra vitamin c and spit eveything out hon. I had gotton RSV a viral pnumonia right after Christmas, lasted a good 2 weeks. Ugh. But I am better and keep me posted on how you are doing *hugs*

January Jewels Mine is on the 25th almost 3 more days OMG!!!

I look forward to so many things: I want to be able to go to any clothing store and not be afraid and wonder if they carry xxl, I want to be able to cross my legs in class, to run a mile, feel active all time, I want to feel excited to go out and meet my family and friends, I can't wait to travel and NOT worry about my weight!!!!!!

Paula, my dad is similar as well. I also feel that it's difficult to shut out what they're saying because it's sometimes kind, sometimes cruel. When my dad opens his mouth I wonder what negative bs he has to put his 2 cents on today. Its hard, but it has to be going thru one ear and out the other. And CONGRATS girl, down over 80 pounds!!!!! Way to go, I know for sure you're going to fly with your weight loss! Keep it up hon and dust off your small shoulders k? You're path is strong and your dad ultimately wants you to be healthy- guys just have a weird way of showing it. Specially dads.

Ahh today I am going to be a busy bee lol. Surprisingly I fell asleep at 7pm and woke up at 4am today I must be really nervous lol. Today at 10am I have my ortho appointment, 11am getting nails done (YAY) then at 1:30 I have my PRE OP where I meet with my surgeon, get blood tests, talk with the coordinator and buy Iron and Vitamin C (already have my multi, Calcium, vit B 12 & BA choc rasp truffle chew mmm). I have anemia and need the extra iron and the vit C will help the absorbtion. My goal weight is to be 215 for the surgery and I really hope I got there, I was 217 around New Years... I skipped dinner and I am super hungry now so I am going to grab a Premier Protein shake- 30 grams of protein I really hope this keeps me full *fingers crossed* My surgery is on Wednesday the 25th and I have 4 weeks approved time off. My damn coworkers- they keep pushing to know what surgery I am getting and now they want to know what hospital I will be at so they can visit me are you serious?!?! I mean come on people how nosy can you get! Even my manager said that he wants to visit. At this point I am going to my job and let everyone know that I just want my family and want the respect to be left alone. I've been at my job for five years and we all know each other and hang out off work like family so if this was happening to one of them yes I would be concerned but respect their decision of privacy. But my manager joined a year ago and this is private. I need to tell him that again. I think he told my coworkers I have cancer and I hope that's a rumor. It's just- today I'm full of so many feelings and needed to vent. Only my parents, brother and sister know so this is hard to really have the people that surround you DAILY not know. The only people who know are my parents, brother and sister. My manager and coworkers know that I am getting surgery but I think they think I have some sort of disease to get rid of. I just haven't said no so whatever they think it is, I really don't care I just say I'll be back in 5 weeks better and healed! They'll forget eventually and I keep saying I don't want to talk about it.

My doctor recommended 4 weeks and my job where I am constantly moving and on my feet approved of my time off, they're giving me 5 weeks off and then another 10 days when I go on vacation to Disneyland yayy!

Congratulations, yours is going quickly My surgery is the day after yours on the 25th!!! We should stay in touch!

I've decided to name my future sleeve tummy "Picky" lol. It's who I am lolol

My doctor called me earlier today for a surgery date and I'm getting sleeved on Jan 25th, 2012!!!
