  1. Hmmm, not great nutrition facts with the higher carbs & lower protein.
  2. I was also told 10 days & then I could add skim milk into my diet, so personally I would wait.
  3. Just wondering what you mean by the part that you can't do Protein & never really could? Do you mean that you have been eating more carbs? If so that is probably why the slow weight loss I would think. I am only a couple of weeks out, so of course no expert, but was always told protein first, then veggies, then carbs. Have you tried other Proteins other than eggs. Fish I heard is great & easy to stomach.
  4. They are almost completely healed, but do have very thin slight scabs still on 2 of them. Thinking 1 or 2 more weeks & they will be completely healed!
  5. Thanks for setting that up, I signed up!
  6. I would love that! Let me know when & where & would try my best to be there. Would be fun as we would have NJ folks at different stages.
  7. It is overwhelming & you really have to do your research & then go with your gut. There are many good drs in Mexico. I decided in the end to go with Dr Kelly & I am so happy I did. Cost was $5500 plus airfare. He is an amazing Dr, had my surgery completed in 41 minutes, no gas pains whatsover, just some mild nausea the first 24 hours. The team is also great & make your whole trip enjoyable. I went alone & was never nervous there, they made me feel like a part of the family! If you have questions you can PM me. I also have a blog of my experience: http://njsharonjourney.blogspot.com/ If you wish to contact Dr Kelly's team, you can contact Omar at wls-clinic@hotmail.com or call 619-395-5347.
  8. I was told I had no stitches & had steri-strips. But I found one tiny suture sticking out on one incision! When I pulled at it lightly it didn't come out anymore nor did it hurt. Just didn't do anything. I e-mailed my Dr's coordinator & he said I could just cut it off, close to the skin, with sterilized scissors & using sterilized tweezers.
  9. yeah, same as beauty said. I wouldn't be worried about flying, but would be worried about all the walking. I am 17 days post op & feel fantastic, I have felt great since right after surgery. But still, at 17 days out, if I walk for an hour around a store I am exhausted! Heck, I feel tired still doing nothing!
  10. Yep, I am 17 days post op & just asked my Dr this question. I was told the incisions have to be completely healed, so no scabs left on them. Then I can go in a pool or bath.
  11. Yay, glad you are doing so well Crystal. I had nausea the first 24 hours & then it subsided. I hope it gets better for you too. If there is anything you want to do & places you want to go to then just ask Omar or Cecy & they will take you. I was also alone & really enjoyed my time there. Sleep while you can though & the walking of course is great.
  12. You will do great reese, but will be praying for you!
  13. Congratulations on your surgery! I also gained a few lbs from all the Water they pump you up with. I also wasn't allowed anything until I did my leak test. They gave me ice chips & said I could swish them & then spit them out. LOL I just skipped them as it is hard to swish ice chips without them melting & swallowing it!
  14. Wow, that is awesome! I was also sleeved May 10th & feeling fantastic, but have yet to do any exercise, have to get on that!
  15. MG, they should have done a leak test about 24hrs after surgery. You didn't have to drink a special liquid or anything?
  16. I was given clear liquid for my leak test & just had to stand in front of a board, which was kind of like an x-ray thing. I got to see the live shot of the liquid going down. It didn't taste that bad to me. Guess I got lucky!
  17. Glenda... sorry, forgot to add you, just added you now!!! Leusch... sorry you are feeling yucky. Just keep on drinking the fluids & you will get there eventually.
  18. Hmmm, well right now I am only 2 weeks out. But if one of my friends were to ask me if they should have WLS I would say yes! I think it is a great tool to lose weight, if you use it correctly.
  19. Good question. I would think by 2 1/2 months out you should be okay. But no expert as I am only 2 weeks out.
  20. That is me! Anyone else want to join our 'secret' facebook group?! We have about 50 members now, it is great! It is a secret group so nobody can see the group, nobody can see the posts, nobody can see who are members. Just search for me & friend me... Sharon Ivanauskas. Then I will add you to the group!
  21. Sherlee, yay, so glad you are doing so well! That is great you are being discharged today & the leak test isn't that bad either. I didn't think it tasted that bad really (not something I would drink every day, but not bad). Enjoy the hotel!
  22. Mine came on time, but was very light & only lasted 2 days! Normally it lasts about 4 days. Of course I am not complaining!
  23. I asked my Dr if I could take extra strenght excedrin if I had a headache, as I used to take that pre-op & he said that was fine. It has acetominophen, aspirin & Caffeine. Might be worth a try?
  24. yeah, the liquid diet is the hardest bit of this I think. I only had liquid diet for 3 days pre-op, but that was bad enough. Now I am on liquid diet post op, but it isn't as hard as I am not as hungry. So if you can get through that liquid diet, you will be fine!
  25. Mmmm yummy, sounds good!!!
