  1. I was banded April 26. 2012 . And since the beginning of liquid diet I have only lost 33. Am I where I should be? Am I expecting too much? Dr says I'm loosing at the perfect rate so that I don't have extra skin later to take of. But dang I really thought it would come off quicker. Thanks, Karie pre app appt 269 day of surgery 251 today 236
  2. It's not 33 pounds since surgery, it's 33 since the beginning of my 2 week liquid diet. But thank you everyone for all the encouraging words
  3. I was banded April 26, 2012 and had my first fill 12 days ago. And I'm getting so frustrated, I'm not losing at the rate I think and feel I should be. If you were banded how much have you lost since surgery date?

    May 3Rd Band-Its - Freaking Out.

Angie, You can do this. I was banded April 26th, and I'm not gonna lie, it has been a little rough, but It's the best thing I have done, besides my husband and my kids. I see a difference already in the amount of food that it takes to fill me up. I was very lucky, I wasn't nervous or scared. It is going to be amazing. You will be so happy you did this.
  5. I was banded April 26th, I had no idea how much pain I would be in after. I had a complete hysterectomy in December 2010, and I think I felt better after that. I am bordering on miserable. I'm glad I did it, just wasn't prepared for the pain after I guess. Wondering if it's just me, or are there others out there feeling the same? Thanks, Karie

    Had No Idea

My pain seems to be around my port. They warned me that my dr does extra stitches and does her a little tighter and that I would be extra tender there. Other than that I feel pretty good. Never enjoyed pureed items so much in my life. I have my follow up appt tomorrow. Thanks
  7. Banded April 26, I get to start introducing purees on tuesday, any suggestions? What was your favorite? Thanks, Karie

3 Days Out, Pain On Right Side

I am pretty much in the same boat. I was banded on Thursday too. Not hungry either, at this point focasing more on getting 64 oz of water, I do not want to get dehydrated. I am also looking forward to purees. Good luck!!
  10. I'm glad I did it, but I had no idea of the pain I would be in. I'm wondering how long this normally lasts? Can I use a heating pad on my tummy? Thanks, Karie
  11. Why do some drs require a complete liquid diet for pre op and others require none. GGGGRRRR. I haven't cheated even once on this liquid diet, but I gotta tell ya the last 2 days have been rough. I have lost 8 pounds on the liquid diet. I now weigh 256. I am so close and don't want to blow it by cheating. Any advise. I'm not hungry, and just want something that tastes good.

  15. I'm just wondering...I friend just said to me "Well good luck my wife and her friend both had lapband and it didn't work for them", Now I'm kind of freaking out about it. So does anyone know the statistics of the failure rate? Thanks, Karie Getting banded April 26, 2012

  17. Just make it to day 3 once you get there it's all good. I'm on day 5 of my liquid diet right now with a surgery date of April 26th. I was lucky the first three days I was off work, so if the hunger became to much I took a nap. You will get thru this!! Just keep the end result in your mind!!

    Starving

I started my liquid diet yesterday to, my lapband is scheduled for April 26th. I am starving too. I am allowed to drink 4 protein shakes a day, 2 pieces of fruit, as much water, broth, sugar free popsicles and jello as I want. But no real food other that the 2 pieces of fruit. I hate to say but my friend spent alot of time sleeping thru her liquid diet last year, and I think I will probably be sleeping alot too.
  19. Feels like it has taken forever to get to this point...but I got the call today....surgery is scheduled for April 26...pre op scheduled for April 11 and I will start the pre op liquid diet on April 12....so excited I can't begin to express the excitement
  20. So after 6 months of weigh ins, dietician, psych evaluation, EDG, and upper GI....Aetna approved me in about 36 hours from the time the paper was submitted. Received the verbal approval last Thursday now waiting on the letter to come in the mail so that I can get pre op and surgery dates.
  21. I have to do 7 consecutive weigh ins with pcp, 2 years worth of weight history, medical necessity letter from pcp, nutritionist, and psychiatric evaluation. I'm going to my 5th weigh in Feb 21. Surgeon told me don't lose any weight just maintain otherwise I would be below BMI requirements. Also, said weigh ins have to be 4-5 weeks apart...but consecutive and consistant. I'm so ready...I have tried a million different weight lose plans...I can always lose weight....but can't maintain...always gain it back plus some. Hopeing for surgery in May.

    Just Wondering

Ok, I have done 4 of my 7 weigh ins...still need to do nutritionist appt, psych evalution, and sleep apnea...my question is at what point does the drs office normally submit to insurance to try for approval. My 7th weigh in will be mid-late April...my deductable started over June 1. Wondering what the odds will be to get band in that 5 week window. Thanks, Karie
  23. I have Aetna, I keep reading where people were given the option of 3 months versus 6 months. How do I find out if I have that. I have called Aetna twice to verify what I need to do and neither mentioned 3 months, and surgeons office didn't mention 3 months as being an option. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Karie
  24. So I have been fat as long as I can remember. Aetna wants 7 consecutive months of weight appts with primary. Any suggestions on how to fastrack that?
