Question for you all about complication
have you had prior history of any lung disease? I'm not sure why you would be at a high risk of a lung collapse...do you smoke, and mabye he is trying to get you to quit? have you ever had build up of fluids in your lungs? Or mabye is he going off of chest x-rays from your pre-op? if so I would think that he would have addressed this with you before surgery and not 8 months after. you are right to go to your gp for this. it sounds weird to me...but still would like to know if any of the answers are yes to my questions....if you dont mind that is? and by the way, from looking at your profile pick and seeing you next to your really nice bike, and suited up in a professionals uniform im kinda leaning to the side of your surgeon is rather loopy. if you had problems with your lungs i kinda thinken you wouldnt be long distance biking!!! lol

pre-op in the morning!
Ok the wheels are starting to pick up speed and I'm stepping on the gas....Finally another big day is here tomarrow. I go do my pre op with the doctor, and then at the hospital. So excited to see how much I have "officially" lost on the liquid diet. I have been really good I think. Only the occational sugar free jello, popsicle or fudge pop...no carbs though. Yesterday I thought I was going to lose my mind, but today I went to the psycologist and got to vent about everything, and I feel better now. Heading off to bed so that I dont crash on the way...gotta 3.5 hour drive to get there, and I have to drive a 1/2 hour backwards to go pic up my daughter from camp first. She tottally wants to be a part of everything. I thank God I have such a wonderful teenage girl! She is the sweetest thing. I know most people are saying the opposite of their teenagers, but I am so blessed that she is so beautiful, inside and out. She has been walking with me and helping me with my journey from the begining. What a blessed life I have. Thank goodness that I am finally getting on track with my weight, and health so that I can be here on this Earth for my family a lot longer!

Day2 PreOp Not going well
ive been on the pre op diet for a week now, and got 1 more week to go, my surgery is the 16th. try to stick with it, you can do it. buy some sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, and fudge pops. they help get you through the really tough spots. 10 cals for the jello, 20 for the fudge pops, and 15 for the popsicles! good luck!

less then one weekout and infection!
i havent had the surgery yet but read in the post "belly bump" on this site that alot of post op people get that bump, and that after a month or two it goes away. check out the post, and put your worries asside. congrats on the surgery!

Pre-op liquid diet worries
Hello and welcome. I am currently on my 2 week pre-op diet. my surgery is on week from today...aug 16th. I work in the same field as you (i'm a psych tech) and i have suffered with hypoglycemia as well. i havent had any problems so far with this on the diet. I did get some sugar free popsicles and fudge pops as well as sugar free Jello to help me through the cravings. I'm sure the hard candy..as long as its sugar free wont be bad, but i would ask your surgeon about the juice. it might spike that blood sugar a little to much, as well as take you out of ketosis. i have been cranky on this diet, but it usually is around the times that i have to prepair food for my family to eat, and relize that i wont be able to eat anything for weeks. lol ....good luck to you, welcome again, and im sure you will do great!

omg!!! finally figured out this whole ticker thing!
I totally suck at this computer stuff. I know more than some but less then most. Anyways I finally figured out how to add it all by myself! For those of you guys that are like me and cant figure it out, here is how you can do the dummy way....if someone knows how to do it the right way, please feel free to add instructions for us dummies..lol 1) go to www.tickerfactory.com 2) create your ticker penn, and then your ticker...(so easy) 3) highlight the actual picture of your ticker, copy the actual picture of your ticker....not the code they give you 4) go to your profile on sleevetalk and go to change signiture 5) paste picture to signiture, then finally....save info thats it! hopefully this helped those of you that wanted it but were to shy to admit it...lol good luck

From: everything is looking positive
I just joined about a week ago, and my only regret is not signing up sooner. I am so thrilled to be able to communicate with others that are going through the same things as I am. I love that in every single post that I have read there has been nothing negative or derogitory at all. In a world were it is hard to find people that have kind things to say it is really wonderful to come on here and get the support that I truely need. I hope others are finding this site so rewarding. I love all of the advice out there for us up coming sleevers, those that are hopeful that they can get sleeved soon, and others that have just recently gone through the surgery. There are so many helpful suggestions and such possitive remarks that I find myself being more addicted to being on this site than the food that has been haunting me for years. So just want to really say thank you to all of the wonderful posts that people have made, and say keep it up, it really is helping others on their weight loss journeys. did anyone else not do too great on preop diet?
my regular doctor had the same responce when he read my paperwork about the required weight loss prior to surgery. he was like, "isnt that the point, you cant lose weight." i was freaken out thinking he wasnt going to give medical clearance because he thought that if i could lose 10% on my own, then i should be able to lose it all on my own. i dont have a hard time losing weight, as a matter of fact i have lost a lot in the past. my problem is keeping it off. i always gain it right back plus a few pounds. just cant seem to keep with anything. i hope that i will be able to stick with this for the rest of my life and never have this problem again. arent we lucky to live in a time when we can have some help with these things, and get on a websight like this and get the support that we all need. i have only been on this sight for about a week and im already hooked. i love that everyone is so positive and supportive here. i have yet to see one negative comment in here. its a wondeful thing.

DID TIME JUST START MOVING 100 TIMES SLOWER?!?!?!
i feelexactly the same way!!!! i am cranky as hell with everyone, i cant stand to even hear people talk right now. my family thinks that i have gone nuts. im on this stupid liquid diet and its horrible. my date is august 16th and it seems like f orever away, even though its just a week away. i wrote about a week ago that i got my date and its coming fast, but that was before the reality of this freakin liquid diet set in. i didnt think it was going to be this bad but i think i would pluck a chickens head right off and eat it feathers and all if one walked infront of me...lol ...all in all im trying to stay positive about this but im finding it hard to wait. i would love to just fall asleep and fast forward to the 16th! good luck to you
