  1. Globe do you have plantar fasciitis?
  2. I was just thinking the same thing.
  3. Looks like fun. I'll be curious to see when and where they have the race this year. Sounds tough.
  4. If you didn't read the original thread...consider yourself lucky. It was a long diatribe about safe and practical ways to chew and spit. It was a terrible case of enabling a nasty eating disorder. The admins were all over this thread immediately, but no rules were broken so no censoring needed to be done. It was however, horribly irresponsible and in completely poor taste. I normally don't like it when an OP deletes his original thread, but in this case I'm glad he did. It was just too reckless and someday, some one was going to read it and feel it was a green light to start a brand new eating disorder that was not present in their lives prior to WLS.
  5. Well....so there it is. This place is high class.
  6. You have 243 posts so you're golden.
  7. Yes but that's completely different than what the op was suggesting. He was suggesting you do it regularly instead of eating. What you're describing is harmless. What the op was encouraging was a full on eating disorder.
  8. Really? I still haven't found it. Lack of ghrelin has made my eyesight questionable.
  9. I think globetrotter was doing it but was talking of changing things up.
  10. I think globetrotter was doing it but was talking of changing things up.
  11. Did 7.2 miles on some forest service roads today. A nice break from the trails and easy on the toes. The toe did hurt too bad....I buddy taped it.
  12. Cheap bikes? Go for a used one. Pawn shops and Craigslist are loaded with cheap used bikes. Glad you've joined. I had a TT at the beginning of October and it was hell being sidelined. Felt so good to get back to exercise. Good luck and join when you can.
  13. I started out with under armour shirts (or the cheaper knock offs) but eventually bought a compression garment made for tummy tuck patients. It's like a pair of compression underwear that comes up to the top of my abdomen and has a zipper in front. At first it felt restrictive but I very quickly learned to love the security of having my belly held in place. I originally wore it for jogging but soon wore it everywhere. I bought it at makemeheal.com
  14. Drink lots of fluids. Cut back on sodium. Keep the swollen parts elevated and wear compression garments on them. If it's your legs, do like the op did and buy some under armour compression tights that are a size too small. That should help.
  15. You gotta take it easy. It's hard to know how much is too much. You almost have to use trial and error. Except we need to err on the side of caution and not push our luck.
  16. Farmgirl are you still having pain in your drain hole (damn that sounds creepy....lol)? My only continued pain is right on my main drain hole...level though that drain has been gone for over 3 months. It still hurts at times. My drains were in my groin, I don't recall of you said you had them in your sides or the groin. But still every so often, for no apparent reason, it will feel like I got stabbed there with a knife. It's not comfortable. Doc said it's just the nerves growing back after massive surgery.....much the same way other areas are still numb.
  17. Hey farmgirl. I know I'm a bit late to this, but after my TT I was told I could begin serious walking 14 days post op. by serious I mean 1 mile. And that was all I could walk. But I was up to 2-3 miles by 1 month post op.
  18. 750 yards swimming. Really was not feeling it. Fluff...I know you can relate to this since you swim regularly....but it hurt my broken toe to kick my feet in the freestyle. I could do side stroke and breast stroke with no pain. Those frog kicks didn't seem to bother me. Unfortunately I suck at breast stroke....and both of those strokes are more tiring to me so I did not get my full distance. I hope I can return to running in a couple of days. Meanwhile...here's a little piggy that is nicely swollen.
  19. Nutritionally speaking, the Quest bars are hard to beat. Their high Fiber content gives them very low net carbs. Meaning, yes they are high in carbs but very little of it is sugar. And as for the taste....15 seconds in the microwave makes them taste so much better. Take them out of the wrapper first. Don't ask me how I know this.
  20. LOL.. Thanks but anyone who knows me knows I won't be wearing any orthotics. My problem is I trail run in vibrams which offer no protection when you stub your toe on a hidden tree root while barreling through the forest. Occasionally these things happen. It's not my first broken toe and likely won't be the last. The way I look at it....it's less painful than dying from obesity.
  21. Sorry you're frustrated globe. I know it's gotta be agonizing. My only point was....hang in there. Keep doing the right things and give it more time. You're improving your health everyday even if you don't see it. Eventually the results will become visible.
  22. Thanks for that update. It's true the recovery from abdominaplasty is way more severe that gastric sleeve. And swelling is so common. You're doing all the right things. I hope you feel better very soon.
  23. It really doesn't seem like the OP wanted advice at all...at least not from us. He did ask that any medical professionals should weigh in if they choose....but I think it's safe to say that any competent medical professional is going to err on the side of decency, safety and healthy responsibility by not encouraging this horrible behavior in any way. Yes it's true, many people here have done this. I did it a couple of times in my first 2 weeks. That doesn't make it ok nor should we promote a "safe" method of doing it. This OP is enabling a deadly eating disorder....nothing else. This forum is about helping others and sharing ideas. And I know that's exactly what the OP was trying to do....but we have a responsibility not to help others go down a destructive path. And in my humble opinion, this entire thread will only give encouragement to someone who happens along looking to justify their destructive behavior.
