    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

I was banded back on Feb. 28 and I’ve had 3 fills so far. I've had all of my fills at the Surgery Center where I had the surgery. I had been going there b/c at my first fill Dr. Spivak said to keep going to the Surgery Center b/c they didn't have the fluoro yet at his office. Since he has one now are we supposed to go to his office or are ya'll still going to the Surgery Center?

    Hair Loss

I can completely sympathize. It's been 3 months since my surgery and all of a sudden boom I’m cleaning way more hair out of brush than I used to and if I run my fingers through my hair it comes out too. My hair is fairly long so right now it's not very noticeable but if it keeps going the way it is it's not going to be pretty! I've started taking biotin and using nioxin shampoo. I've never had an issue with my hair before; I’ve always had really thick hair.

    What do you drink???

I love Crystal Light the lemonade and raspberry lemonades are the best. Another good one are the Lipton Diet Citrus Green Teas, they are really good too.

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Has anyone here had a fill at the surgicenter yet? I have my first follow-up with Dr. Spivak on Thursday. I'm hoping he's going to give me a fill, I feel like I can eat anything now. One of my friends went in and he didn't give him a fill. Has anyone else had that happen? What all does he do on your first follow-up? Do the fills hurt? I'm such a baby when it comes to needles! :phanvan

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Hi all, wanted to make a quick post. I've been so busy since surgery that I haven't had a chance to post but I have been keeping up with my reading and I want to thank everyone for their postings. It's amazing how much support you can get from just reading that someone is going through the same thing and that you aren't going crazy. I have my first post-op appointment next Thurs. (3/29). I'm hoping that he gives me a fill while I’m there. I've noticed that I can eat almost anything I want. I'm definitely eating less but haven't had problems with chicken or a tortilla I ate the other day. I guess I just thought it would take me longer till I could eat those types of things again. As of today I’m down 25 pounds and am so glad that I made this life changing choice. I've been working out at least 3 times a week at the gym. I'm still a little sore so it's hard sometimes but I know I will lose more if I go to the gym, so that is my inspiration.

I have to be there at 6:30am, they didn't say what what surgery time though. This is really cool! We'll have to trade stories when we're through!

    February 2007 bandsters!

What a small world! I'm also at the Surgicare Center on Wednesday too. I think what I have is just a case of the jitters. I would never back out either. I know i'm doing the right thing for me and that is what is most important. I think I just need to take a few more deep breaths and know that all will be ok!
  9. Thanks for the rundown of your day. I think what scares me the most is the unexpected. I've had 2 surgeries before but they were when i was little, so i have no memory of them. So, essentially this is my first surgery and it helps to know exactly what's going to happen. I guess I'm kind of controlling in that sense and w/ surgery you loose that. I know all is going to go well, i just have to keep telling myself that.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi All! I'm having my surgery on Wednesday and I'm getting more and more anxious (in good and bad ways). Has anyone gotten cold feet before their surgery? I'm not thinking about not going through with it, I think I'm just scared about the surgery part. I'm trying not to think about it too much. I'll just be glad when it's over and the losing can begin.
  11. That's sounds pretty scary. I'm having my surgery on Wednesday w/ Dr. Spivak and that's one thing that kind of freaks me out. I'm getting more and more anxious (in good and bad ways) now that I'm getting closer to the date. The surgery part is what worries me the most. I'll just be glad when it's over. Hopefully I won't wake up with a tube down my throat. Where did you have your surgery done?

How do I insert a ticker? I went to ticker factory and set one up but couldn't figure out how to link it to my profile? I know, not a lap band related question, but I'm starting to get excited/anxious about my surgery next week and thought I would start one.

I'm having my surgery at Park Plaza, is that were you had yours? It's always good to have all of the information that way even if it doesn't happen you won't be surprised if it does. I love the crystal light lemonade and i have some of the single serving pouches of that. What kinds of vitamins do you take? I've heard some take the Flintstones and Tums w/ calcium.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi all, I officially scheduled my band date for 2/28. I'm excited but it's a little scary too. I look forward to starting my new journey. I love this thread b/c we're all going through this at the same time. My DH is completely supportive of my decision, it just nice to talk to other people who are going through the same things.

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Well, I’ve been scheduled for surgery on 2/28 w/ Dr. Spivak. Only a week and a half away! I'll be honest and say that I’m a little nervous about the surgery portion and how I’m going to feel after. I'm taking the rest of the week off after that so hopefully that will be enough time to recuperate a little before heading back to work. What are some of the things ya'll drank the first couple of days after surgery. I hear chicken broth and lots of water. Anything else I should stock the pantry with??

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

I'm set to go to dr. Spivak's seminar tomorrow and I have an appointment with him right after. I'm so excited b/c I’ve heard so many good things about him from all of you. I went to another surgeon's seminar and didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling. I have a newbie question so nobody laugh. I've heard of people talking about PB'ing. What the heck does that mean, it doesn't sound pleasant whatever it is! Thanks for all of your posts; it's nice to know I’m not alone in this!

    Fill Doctor in Houston

I'm also trying to decide between Dr. Spiegel and Dr. Spivak. I had a consult with Spiegel last weekend and it kind of felt like rushed. He is very knowledgeable but I just didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from him. I've heard through other postings that his aftercare and office staff leaves something to be desired. I'm going to the seminar and consult w/ Dr. Spivak this weekend and look forward to seeing the differences between the two. I have no doubt that they are both great surgeons but I'm just looking for the right fit.

    Newbie

Hi everyone, I’m in the process of deciding which surgeon to go with to have my lap band done. I know I need to lose weight, I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to resort to surgery, to me it's a very scary option but then so is remaining the size that I’m currently at. I need to lose at least 100 pounds before I’ll be at a safe weight to get pregnant. I'm just glad that we have this support system to help us through it all.
