Anyone From Massachusetts That's Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Hi, Well, first of all congratulations. You are definately at the right place to go for any questions you have about VSG. Pre op all I did was read about it, talk to people who had wls, and watched every YouTube video I could find. I think the best thing was how prepared I was and how much I wanted to do it. There was no doubt, so I never got the blues after. The pre op diet sucked. I did 2 weeks which is hard because your hungry and you want to have "food funerals" but I was so afraid they would cancel the surgery that I did well and lost 12lbs. The surgery went great. The first day your just exhausted because of the anesthesia but you need to walk because the gas pain is pretty bad. After they took the catheter out I got up and walked during the night because there was less people around. Once they took the iv's out and the drain they put in one of the incision it was much more comfortable to move. Seriously, I had the surgery on a Tuesday came home on Thursday and on Friday went to the grocery store with my hubby. I walked slow and didn't lift anything but I was out. We went to target on Saturday, Monday I was cleaning my house and on Wednesday I went back to the gym to walk slowly on the treadmill. My surgery was on Nov 1, and so far from before preop I have lost 52lbs. I wish I had done this years ago. It amazes me that I can eat whatever I want just in very small amounts and lose weight. I do alot of Protein and I work out 5 days a week and I feel great. You will be VERY happy. If you want to friend me on Facebook, I am part of a group of women who are in all stages of the surgery. Pre thru years. It's a great group and I can add you if you want. Good luck. You will definately not regret it!!! My Facebook name is Sandra jean wood Williams.

Anyone From Massachusetts That's Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
- what is wrong with me??????
I have to say that doing this was the greatest thing ( besides having my children) that I have ever done. 4 weeks out and I have to remind myself that I had a surgery. It really was an easy process, in fact I was out shopping the day after I got out. I would do it again in a heart beat. Don't beat yourself up, do what you feel is right. You won't regret it. I certainly don't.- VSG Surgeons in Boston
I had Dr Andras Sandor from commonwealth surgical in Stoneham. He did it at Lawrence memorial hospital or winchester hospital and he was fantastic. Perfect track record and not even 2 weeks out and I feel amazing. I couldn't speak more highly of him and his collegues. Go to www.commonwealthsurgical.com to get more info but he is awesome !!!!!- If I had to choose just one soup... this would be it.
Sounds yummy. Can't wait to try it. I love soups.- Surgery is tomorrow... YIKESSSSSSSSSSS
I'm a week out and had a great experience. Love this site and all the wonderful "friends I've met here. Good luck and considers us all your sleeve sisters !!!- Started Pre Op Liquid diet today and I NEED support
Can you have vegetables? I cut carrots up and dipped them in salsa, pretending they were chips. I drank alot of broth and sf jello. Good luck. The first few days suck but once the scale starts moving down, you will get so much motivation. Eye on the prize, my friend. You can do it!!!! Good luck- Sleeved on 11/2 and back at work on 11/7!!!
Wow, that's fantastic. I was sleeved the day before you and I'm feeling great too. Not on mushy foods yet, I'm jealous!!! But next week I will be!!!- Surgery 11/9 & afraid of being rejected due to pre op weight loss
- Liquid Diet
Haven't heard from any banana babes lately. How is everyone doing with their sleeves???- Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
Thanks Phyllis, as usual you make me feel better and not alone. I was also told it was gas pains and then I walk around a bit and start burping then they go away. I am sipping away at my protein and broths, I like the warm stuff. I have been having a sf pudding and that also seems to satisfy my feelings. Thanks for the support and I know it will all work out. I'm sure everyone feels that after years of trying every diet and failing that this will be the same, but really, it can't be. It will work. I just have to give it time.- AFTER SURGERY
- Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
Well I got it done and so far I feel really good. The pain isn't as bad as I expected, and neither is eating. I swear I still feel hunger pains and feel like I could eat. Which I know I can't but, I feel like I could try. I'm not nauseous or dizzy, just gassy. The first 2 days I was tired but today I went to 2 stores with hubby and did some errands. So I guess it was a success I just want to start losing weight. I haven't lost anything since 12.5 lb preop diet, but all I've had since coming home last night was 2 protein drinks, 1 cup broth, a small applesauce to take my pills in and a pudding. I will have more protein later. Gotta lose weight on that, right???- So a few pics finally . . .
Great job Rootman. Proud of you. Cant wait to be in losers club with you.- Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
kksinisi I hope you get sleeved tomorrow too. It would really stink if mother nature screws this up!! Everyone, thanks so much for the well wishes and the words of encouragement. I know I will do great!!! I am just so ready to start my new life with this amazing sleeve. I couldn't made it thru the past few months without all your support!!!- Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
I can't believe it is finally here! Tomorrow morning at 6:00am I will getting my relaxing meds and getting my sleeve at 7:30. All the hours of reading everyone's posts and waiting for my turn to come is finally here. So its liquid only day... That's gonna be a tough one. It also stinks that it's Halloween and I have to take my 11 year old trick or treating without raiding the candy bag!!! Gotta get myself to bed early and keep busy during the day to keep my mind off of it. Not bringing an Internet device to the hospital so I can't update from there but as soon as I get home I will tell the story of my success. see y'all in a few days. Say a prayer and wish me luck.- getting sleeved Tuesday, quick question! :)
Im getting sleeved Tuesday also. Good luck- Surgery Tomorrow 10/31!
Good luck to you. I'm going in on Tuesday. I will be thinking of you all.- Not sure that this was the right thing to do?

I am also doing the 2 week pre-op diet to get sleeved on Nov 1st. Mine was very strict. 5 protein drinks, 1 cup broth, 3 fruits, 3 vegatables, and SF jello. And LOTS of water. The first few days really sucked, but I was losing weight every day. In a week I lost 8lbs. Now I am in the home stretch, but I gotta tell you, it's harder for me. I have been going to the gym, working out really hard 2x a day, almost every day, so I am burning those little calories up and I AM HUNGRY. I have been sneaky a little babybel cheese in the afternoon and sometimes just a small bite of whatever I am making the family for dinner. Not much, and I am trying to make sure that it isn't full of carbs. I also made soup with vegatable broth and a whole pile of veggies, and just ate that for dinner. I also dipped carrots in salsa as a quick snack. But luckily, I only have 2 more days, then only protein drinks on Monday then I head to the hospital for the big day on Tuesday. I hope I did well enough on these past 2 weeks to be able to have an easy surgery. Good luck and hopefully all will be well with you!!- Anyone From Massachusetts That's Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Just wondering if anyone was from Massachusetts and had Dr Andros Sandor do their surgery ???- 2 months until surgery~!!
Yay. It's almost here!!! 5 days left. If I can live thru this last week of starvation than I can survive anything.- Anyone have an IVC filter
I'm 48 and luckily they are putting the filter in at the same te as the surgery. One dr will put it in then my VSG surgeon will work his magic. It is supposed to be a temporary filter and will be removed 6 or so weeks later. If by chance it is slanted and they can't catch the hook to remove it then he will leave it in. I don't think I am nervous about it just because I won't be conscious but I am worried about another hospital stay for the removal. But thanks for the imput, it is nice to know I am not the only one who has these issues.- A little about myself and a ?
Thanks girls for all the well wishes. Well, my story is; I am 48 years old, married and mom to 2 beautiful girls age 11 & 14. I have been dieting since I was 6 years old. My mom was heavier and obsessed with weight, so she always had a new fad diet to try. I have gained and lost probably 3 people in my lifetime. Last big weightloss was when I got married 15 years ago. I lost 80 lbs dieting and exercising but gained it all back and some when I got pregnant. Back in 2006 my intestine ruptured and I needed to have an emergency colostomy. Luckily I only had to have the "bag" for 9 months. Then I got pulmonary embolisms, and 2 hernias (both surgically fixed). So since then I joined a gym and I work out with cardio and weight training 4+ times a week. I can't even buy a 1 lb weightloss. I've given up coffee, carbs, potatoes, sweets, chips, you name it. Nothing helps. So I am hoping the sleeve will finally be the answer for me. My husband is a great guy, but not really supportive of me getting this surgery. He loves me the way I am....but I don't. He loves to eat but I want to be thin and healthy. My mom isn't really supportive either but she just doesn't understand this whole procedure and how it can help. Thank God for this forum to get the support I desperately need, especially this week. Thank you all for listening and caring. Now here is my question. Since I have had the mesh put in where the hernias were, what will happen when I lose weight in that area ?? Will I lose weight there?? God I hope so. Just afraid it will show. I'm sorry but I'm just getting nervous since I am less than a week away from surgery. Does anyone have any thoughts or info about this??? Thanks for listening. (- Photo Shoot....pics attached.
Omg. You look awesome. I hope to look as great as you soon. I get sleeved on Nov 1. Congrats !!! - what is wrong with me??????
