  1. Try dissolving gasx. That worked well for me. good luck.
  2. I was sleeved in October 2011. I was on an insulin pump for 3 years prior. I came off insulin after one day. I am still on metformin, however. My AIC is now down to 6.4. My Endocrinologist said it would take time for my body to adjust. I am pleased that I am only on metformin. I can deal w/that after the pump. Hang in there, it will happen for you!
  3. Hi. i was sleeved on October 31st, 2011. I have lost 42 pounds so far, although the scale will go up and down about 3 pounds. I only weight every week or so. My main reason for having the surgery was my diabetes, which was out of control. I haven't had any insulin since the morning after surgery and am just on Metformin oral meds. The surgery accomplished what it was intended. I feel good most of the time. Some depression. I guess it's normal. My issue is seems that all of a sudden I can eat much more than what I could. And I know a lot of what I am eating is not healthly. Have almost gone back to my old 'normal' diet. I am scared my sleeve has already stretched out. Is possible. I was under the impression my surgeon had placed mesh around it for this reason. I know I need to stop the emotional eating. Any one else with these issues as well out there? Thanks!
  4. That is awesome. 8 weeks out and I am in size 12 and 33 pounds down. Seem to have hit a plateau but realize I need to start the exercise since I can eat just about anything. Keep up the great work!

    Ok, So, My Liver Shrank...

Good luck! I was on an insulin pump for almost 3 years prior to my surgery. I have not had any insulin since the day of surgery and I only take 1 metformin pill a day. This surgery has been the best thing ever. I so far have lost 31 pounds and I am 7 weeks out. On issue is that my liver numbers have gone up. I don;'t know what caused this but I am working with my Bariatric Doctor. Maybe the lack of minerals and vitamins. I always forget to take my vitamins and they are very important. Keep us posted on your successes!
  6. I am three weeks post op tomorrow and have been eating 'real' food for over a week. taking it easy - no grease, no fried. Anything soft or easily chewed. So far so good. Only issue is eating too fast, which will take time to learn. Great news for you!
  7. Hi, I also has surgery on the 31st. It was easier than having a baby. I feel good and can get around. The right top of my abdomen is also the most tender. I an 'eating' full liquids still but am ready to go to purred food on Monday. So far so good ! Glad you are doing well! One day at a time!

    Liquid Diet

I have a hard time with the protein shakes. I put yogurt in them to try to make them more statisfying. Any suggestion on what is a good brand/or trick to use? thanks

    Liquid Diet

HI Rhonda ! I live in Cumming, GA. Having my surgery at Emory Midtown. Atlanta. My surgeon says the liquid diet is to shrink the liver. They have to move it to get at the stomach, and it makes it easier. I start liquids on Wednesday the 26th, as my surgery is the 31st. I have been cutting back the last week and trying to substitute soup for one meal. I am very anxious about this and all the diet do's and don'ts the month following surgery. My number one goal for this is to get rid of diabetes. It's been out of control for years. Good luck! - Alyson

What can we have when we are doing the 2 weeks pre-op diet?

My Dr said 5 days of liquids. The NUT had said a full 7, with reduced diet 2 weeks previous. Maybe it depends how much you have to lose?

OMG...I actually went through with it!

wow, glad to hear you are feeling better. My surgery is in two weeks and I am terrified by exactly what you went through. All I can think is this too shall pass. Hang in there!
  13. Hi, my surgery is 10/31/11. I am having this done mainly to control my diabetes. I have been on an insulin pump for 2 years and still no control on my numbers. I feel this is really big leap of faith to have this surgery. Losing weight will be a great side effect as well. Is anyone else out there having this surgery for diabetes as well as weight loss??? Not telling many people yet as I get push back on such a radical decision. I pray it all is worth it!

    Type 2 Diabetes

Thanks for all the comments. I figure worst case scenerio is I remain on an insulin shot a day.. Far better than dealing w/the pump. I realize the surgery is a tool and I have to change my habits. I am ready. Am hoping I will feel much better and will be able to exercise on a regular basis.
