  1. So, today is 3 days post op. I woke up this morning sneezing like crazy. Now I have the stuffy/runny nose and burning eyes. Any suggestions on what I can take? Should I call my doc first? Or should I just tough it up thru the cold.
  2. So, the hard part is over. I had my surgery on Tuesday and came home yesterday evening. I did give everyone a little scare though. I told the doctor that I am hard to wake from anesthisia. Apparently, they tried to wake me in the recovery room and I woke up (I don't remember any of this). After a minute I fell back on the table and stopped breathing. They tried bagging me but every time they stopped, I stopped breathing. They finally had to intubate me again. And then they sent me to ICU. I woke up around 9:00PM and was freaking because of the tube down my throat. They had to restrain me until they could get the doctor's permission to remove the breathing tube. Once that was out, I was fine. They wound up keeping me in ICU until I was released. But this had NOTHING to do with the surgery, it was because of anesthisia. I'm drinking Clear liquids today and everything is going fine. I havent needed to take any pain meds yet. But I am very tired slept a lot today and about to take another nap. Now the journey to being a normal size person begins. I can't wait until I get there!
  3. Thank you guys....now if only I could sleep
  4. Tomorrow is my day....Don't cheat!! I was told to absolutely positively NOT to cheat 3 days before the surgery. I have been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. It wasn't so bad.
  5. Tomorrow at 2:30 I will be a member of the sleeve club. OMG I AM SOOOOOO NERVOUS!
  6. I use extracts (such as vanilla, rasberry, orange, caramel, etc) and splenda in my plain greek yogurt and it's yummy.
  7. My surgery is in 2 days and I'm nervous and excited. I am concerned about exercise. I have always hated exercise which is one of the reason I got this fat. I know exercise is as important as dieting so I don't want to mess up the results of the surgery by being lazy. So, what is an easy way to start exercise (that I might like) and when can I or should I start?
  8. Here's a list I found and added to. My surgery is Tuesday and I'm stocked up on everything but the
  9. You look amazing!! My surgery is Tuesday and my starting weight is the same as yours was. I jut hope at 5 months I've done as good as you have. You are my inspiration!
  10. My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday, 3/6. I have my preop visits today with the doctor and the hospital today. OMG!! This makes it so real and makes me so nervous. The closer it gets the more my stomach knots up. I know I have to do this but I wish I didn't. I walk around pretending to have all the confidence in the world that I am doing the right thing, but inside I have doubts that I"m trying my darndest to ignore. I just keep telling myself, I am miserable at my current weight and have not been able to do anything about it and this is my last resort. I just want to be a normal weight and not feel miserable. Sorry if I'm rambling but that's what going on in my mind. The mind rambling get worse each day as I get closer to THE day. I have very mixed emotions.....can't wait to be skinny but nervous as all get out.
  11. OMG...I so agree!! I bought the unflavored unjury and tried it in water and crystal lite. It was so gross, it turned my stomach!
  12. What Vitamins must you take? Also, how long must you take the vitamins - forever? My surgeon recommends - (per day) 2 mulit vitamins 3 Calcium 1 Iron 1 B12 I am surprised by the 2 mulit vitamins an 3 calcium per day.
  13. I ate like a pig the last 2 months and actually gained 10 pounds in 6 months. But now I'm on the 2 week prep and I havent cheated at all. As a matter of fact I'm on day 6 and I already lost, 10 pounds. So don't beat yourself up about what you're doing now as along as you are committed for the long haul.
  14. Yesterday was day 4 of my liquid diet. I have not cheated but it seems to be getting harded each day rather than easier. Last night I babysat my 3 year old grandaughter and my 3 1/2 year old grandson. I picked them up at 5 and of course they wanted McDonalds. I drove through and got them both a kids meal and didn't get anything for myself!! (and boy was that hard). It was even harder to clean up when they were done eating because of course they don't eat everything. Rather than eating their leftovers as I normally would, I threw them in the trash! Then this morning, I weighed myself and I am down 10 poinds already! Yeah me!!!!!!!
  15. Jailynn - Nsv = non scale victory
  16. I have tried the nectar brand and found a few flavors I liked but since I started th liquid diet, I can't stomach them. This morning I tried unjury in my crystal lite and could not finish it.
  17. I started my liquid diet on Tuesday. It's not as hard as I thought it would be. Except for throne in shakes now make me sick in the stomach and I can't get them down.
  18. Is there any other way to get your Protein in other than shakes? Eve since I starts my liquid diet, I can't drink them. They make me sick in the stomach. Heck the smell of them makes me sick. Before I started the liquid diet and had food in my stomach I was fine with them. So is there any other way to get your protein in? I remember someone saying at one of my suppor meetings that they never did shakes because they couldn't handle them. Unfortunately I haven't seen that person since I started this darn liquid diet. I'm worried about what's goingq to happen aftere surgery.
  19. Congrats!! My surgery is 3/6. We are the March sleevers.
  20. Is there anyone out there that did not experience hair loss? I'm 12 days away from surgery and this is starting to really worry me. I have very thick hair so I'm hoping either it isn't noticable or I'm lucky and it doesnt happen to me. If you have lost hair, how much?
  21. Well today was day 1 and I survived!! My diet is also to shrink the liver. I'm allowed, plain oatmeal, cream of rice, cream of wheat, Protein shakes(of course), no sugar added applesauce, sugar free Jello, SF pudding, SF popsicles, strained cream Soups, broth or tomato soup. I can have sugar free koolaide, crystal lite, skim or 1% milk, etc to drink. There are some other things on the list but it cant be more than 1000 kcal per day. Like I said, I made it through day 1, 13 more to go!
  22. So, my big day to be sleeved is 3/6. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Tuesday starts my 2 week liquid preop diet. I am scared to death of this phase. I know I have to do it after surgery but it should be easier then. I'm afraid I won't be able to do it now and will fail. In the mean time, I've been eating everything in site because it's the 'last' time I can eat it. I think I gained another 10 lns. :-( Tomorrow will be my big blow out day. Then Tuesday the journey begins. Wish me luck because I'm going to need it. I know I am doing the right thing but it's still scary. I fear giving up food. I fear the pain. I look forward to being able to walk up the stairs without getting out of breath. I look forward to being able to tie my shoes. i look forward to stiing in a booth. I look forward to crossing my legs. I look forward to standing for a long period of time without my back hurting. I look forward to like what i see in the mirror. I look forward to feeling good about myself. BUT I AM SCARED!
  23. OK, I'm sorry. I know this question has been asked a million times, but for those of you that had the surgery, how long were you out of work. I just got my surgery date this week! It's 3/6. I was filling out my STD and FMLA paper work today and they asked for an expected return to work day. I put 4 - 6 weeks out. Then I called my doctor and they said I'd only be out fot 1 - 2 weeks! From what I've read on these boards, it doesn't sound to me like I will be ready to go back to work 1 - 2 weeks after surgery. Has anyone gone back that fast?
  24. I got a call from my insurance Friday that they have approved the surgery! I will get a surgery date from my doctor next week. I am probably looking at the middle or end of March. I finally feel it's really going to happen. I'm excited and scared to death. I know this is the right thing to do but it doesn't stop the butterflies in my stomach. I dream of where I will be a year from now....what size cloths will I be wearing? how much energy will I have? What will I be able to do then that I can't do today? But then I fear giving up food. Is this normal?
  25. Wow...you look awesome and are a inspiration to those of us who have not had the surgery yet! I can only hope to look like you do someday. Thanks for sharring.
