  1. Let's see.... B-1 slim fast low carb shake L-Chili from Back Yard Burger & 3 crab Rangoons:tt1: (the Rangoons were not my idea...I ran out on lunch and they were on my desk...a group from work ordered chinese....I was to weak to throw away) S-14 Almonds D-???Not sure....Maybe Leftover ham and another shake??? **I have 340 calories left for the day....and hardly any carbs!!!!** Water-60oz....
  2. Thanks! 30 minutes is the minimum that I am walking. I do that daily on break and then 45 minutes at the Y if I can make it....... I really appreciate all the advice!!! I will keep you guys posted on my progress. I think I have been floating with a couple of pounds down here and there and I am now to the point where I am wanting to be done with the loss and move onto maintaining! Sometimes I look at other individuals that are close to goal and think that it could NEVER be me. I am going to have to buckle down and get it together! I am so afraid of doing one wrong thing and not having any results!!!
  3. Cool....Thanks. Well I can say that I have blown the "under 20" for today. I will definitely keep them under 10% of my calories for the day. It's amazing how some foods have carbs and I would not think that they would....for example...No bean chili....I guess it's the tomatoes.....LOL!!! I am going to have to be careful of the hidden ingredients.....
  4. Question...How many carbs are too many, just enough, not enough....My goal is 60 grams of protein, 64 oz of water, & 1000 calories. Where should my carbs be? I know in one of the initial post it was 10% is that of your daily calorie intake??? Just need clarification... Thanks!
  5. Hi Matt... Do you monitor your intake as far as Fat, Sodium, carbs? I know with 1000 calories, it should not be that much of an issue...just curious. Thanks for the advice!!! Robin
  6. Ok...I am in.... I want to try something different. It appears that this is working for you all...so I want to see if it will work for me! I went to Sams over the weekend and bought the Low Carb Slim Fast shakes. I am going to try 2 of those and a low carb meal to start.....I am trying to jump start my weight loss...we'll see how it goes..... I will post what I ate tomorrow!
  7. Eating one meal a day is not what I want to do forever, I was just trying to jump start my weight loss. The one meal that I would eat would be a sensible lapband meal. Long term, I want to be normal and eat 3 meals a day...I think that is what all of us bandsters would like to acheive...I thought about the shakes because of the Protein. I figure that would take the guess work out of my protein intake. I am not knocking anyones way of how they are eating..If it's measuring, weight watchers, south beach, or whatever the case may be. You are right, I am looking for all suggestions. I would just prefer not to measure....I am not a self maintenance person....That is not good at all...but that is the truth. I have been counting calories...so I have it in me to watch my intake to a certain point....I would like to start with maybe 2 Protein Shakes and 1 meal for 2 weeks and then 2 meals one shake.....The shakes are not neccessarily Meal Replacements...they are just a way of me making sure I get in the 60 grams of protein a day..... We'll see how it goes.... Thanks for all the suggestions!
  8. I have been banded since 7/2003. I would not trade it for anything in the world. I have not had any problems....I have had a pregnancy in between, which I know that I would not have been able to do without the band due to the extra weight. The only thing I had to deal with was stomach pain that was cured with a pepcid a day.... I am a slow looser.. I think mainly because I was under the impression the band would do all the work...now that I am 30 pounds away from goal....I am learning that I have to pitch in too!
  9. Thanks! See that's what makes all of this so complicated!!!! I was thinking about drinking protein for Breakfast and dinner and just eating one meal a day....I am not sure that's the right thing to do...but I did not want to think about food/portions/menus...that's why I got the band...but I am learning slowly but surely this is the only way??!!??
  10. My restriction is fickle...That;s why I am so afraid of an unfill....One day I can hardly eat anything and the next day I can eat more than I would like to.....so it low carb the way???? I am eating less than 1200 calories on most days, I would have thought that would be enough with water and exercise.... Thanks!
  11. What is the recommended amount for protein? I found so many variations.... Thanks!
  12. I have been tracking my calories (1200 or Less)....My Protein is way low...what should it be? I hear so many opinions on what it should be.....I will work on increasing protein. Reality is, meat is hard on me......as far as water...I am drinking 7 servings or more a day. That is A LOT for me. I am not a big drinker. When I did drink, it would be juices and sweet tea. I have cut almost all of that out of my diet. When I walk on the treadmill....I am sweating. I am doing over 2 miles in a 45 minute time frame......So I guess I will purchase the Protein shakes. Try to get in a little more water...I would have thought my body would have responded to the water that I have been drinking....because it is A LOT compared to my normal consumption. Thanks for the advice....
  13. I am almost to a milestone goal...I guess??? I have tracking my calories and walking on the treadmill for 45 minutes, and walked at work on breaks. Since I am just starting back, I have made my goal right now to go 3 times a week, with my preteen daughters. The first week, I started counting my calories (1200), walking on break (2 @ 15mins) and I was only able to go to the Y once. But I am at least walking 30 minutes a day whether I go to the Y or not. I lost 3 pounds. I have weighed myself 3 times since then and have not had a loss. I am really starting to get discouraged. I have been banded for almost 5 years. ( I have had a pregnancy in between) but I sometimes feel that I will never make it to goal. I would like to be 150 pounds, but my mini goal is 20 pounds right now. I know that I am well restricted....I can barely drink in the AM. Still tight by lunch but able to eat, by dinner I can get down a reasonable sized meal. I am almost thinking that maybe I need to be on diet pills to boost my metabolism. I am not sure what to do. I am calling out to anyone that has set the same 20 pound goal and have achieved it. What did you eat? What was your exercise regiment? I am also drinking more Water that I have in FOREVER...at least 4-6 cups a day. I know that may not be a lot for some, but for me that is A LOT!!!! I would sometimes go days without water.... I am open and willing to take any advice!!! Thanks!

  15. I have been banded of almost 5 years and I am still not at goal. :huggie: It tool me a very long time to get my head right. The band is a tool that I am indeed greatful for, but you still have to do "something" in order for it to work! I have never been the type of person to take care of myself, so this is very hard for me. I started it out at 235 and I got down to about 176 and lo and behold I got pregnant.:w00t: I am not regretting that for one bit. He is the son I always wanted.....Full term I weighed about 211. Currently I am 186. I would love to 140-150. My son will be 2 in June and I really would like to be 160 by then. I know what I have to do, but I can not get motivated to do it. I would rather just not eat at all then to have to work out and measure food and worry about Water intake. So my question is this, what do you use for motivation? It is very discouraging to see the weight just fall off of some bandsters...I am sure that everyone is not "playing by all the rules" so why couldn't I be that lucky???:cheers2: Anywho. I have committed to go to the Y on Monday for water aerobics....I hope that will help me to stay motivated and do what I have to do! I hope to get to meet you all here and we work to encourage one another!

Well. I am starting "AGAIN". I am hoping to be successful. I just need to loose 30 pounds. That's not asking for much!!! My biggest problem is I don't eat. I have no appetite. I guess when you have been banded as long as I have you will find that you are not wanting to eat....Sometimes I will get hungry and take one bite, and feel too tight. At that point, I just pass on the meal. I am always tight in the AM and then as the day goes on I will loosen up. I have started back on water. I bought some Country time on the go and I use 1/2 a pack in my water. I am hoping that will help me with my water intake. I am very lacking in that area. One thing I can say is this. This "tool" that I have a round my stomach works in conjuction with the things that I should have been doing all along. There is not quick fix regarding weightloss. The band just gurantees that I will not get much bigger that I am. I will close now...... My goal is to start back journaling 2-3 times a week.

  18. Thank you so much for the response. Did you have an unfill? If so, how much. What was your fill level when you have your tonsillectomy? I am really scared. I would be so upset if I lost my band because of this. Did you PB up the blood and mucous? Did you vomit a lot? How long did it take for you to recover? Did the anesthesiologist put the patch behind your ear for the nausea? I had that during the lap band surgery and I never vomited once. I appreciate your feedback.
  19. I have 3.8CC's in. How many did you have in when you had your surgery? I am very scared because of my level of restriction......Did you vomit a lot?? Thanks so much for the response.....
  20. Hello. My ENT doctor has recommended me to get a tonsillectomy. I am wondering if any bandsters have had that procedure done. I have always had problems with my tonsils and would like to do something about it, but not at the sake of my band. I am afraid that I will be under anesthesia something will go wrong and then the doctor may have to do some poking around in my stomach and "mess" something up...OR I will be consumed by the nausea and vomiting and end up harming myself. (Slippage) Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Well so far so good. No Candy, Sweets, of any kind since Monday...which is a huge accomplishment for me since every other desk in the department has a candy stocked full of good stuff!!!! :clap2: The one thing that I would like to focus more on is my water intake. I have been sprinkling a little crystal light in my bottle. It has helped some. I just really hate the artifical sweetner taste!! :spit: Once I start drinking the amount of water I should, I will not use the crystal light anymore. My eating has been Ok....eating protein first. I have not really had too may cabs or mushy foods!!!! So I feel I am on the right track. I just pray I make it through the weekend! My goal next week...the Y. I have already made a playlist for my MP3 player. I included workout/motivational tracks....... I gotta make it work this time! :gluck:

BINGO!!!! You got it Jill! I work in the insurance world and yes the CEO is promising stockholders big returns with the outsourcing. I am Ok with moving work to poorer US locations, because we are helping ourselves. I think in the long run it's going to hurt more than we can imagine. In my corporation, I really don't think the higher ups care how it's affecting the day to day duties. Because at the end of the day all you have is a bunch of disgruntle employees that can be replaced. It's frustrating to purchase services and equipment from someone that is in America and then when the crap breaks or you need assistance, you have to deal with crappy reception over the phone, a language barrier, and the customer service is compromised. I wish I could find a way to get more Americans involved and really but the whole scenario out there about outsourcing. The day to day stress I go through is taking days off of my life....but in my industry, it's happening more and more....so what do you do??? I have also been informed that more industries are outsourcing, for instance reading x-rays, the auditing industries, what's next. I think if a Company decides to outsource.....the should have to pay the US much more taxes...especially for unemployment alone! JMHO!
