  1. I chose the sleeve over the bypass because I didn't want the malabsorption and rerouting. I chose the sleeve over the band bc of success and complications rates. The biggest factor in my decision was upkeep. I can now see my surgeon once a year to check in and other than that live my new life! I wouldn't want to keep goin back for fills.
  2. I've almost always been overweight but when I flew last year it really made me realize just how big I had gotten. Both flights were embarrassing and uncomfortable. I am 7 weeks out and will be flying again in the fall - I can't wait to have the same NSV! Congrats on your success!
  3. Add me! Staceynicole82 What a great app!
  4. I am 7 weeks post-op tomorrow and still have not had any hunger. I do know that acid can cause the feeling of hunger. Are you taking an anti-acid pill? I take Prilosec everyday.
  5. I have twin 5 year olds and I was very honest with them about my surgery. If they tell everyone they come in contact with I am ok with that. They knew something was up when I stopped eating so I told them that Mommy was trying to get healthy and that my doctor was going to help me make my tummy smaller. They knew about my nights away at the hospital ahead of time. One of my girls stayed back and was afraid to hurt me after surgery. My other insisted on being in the hospital bed with me the day after surgery, seeing my incisions daily (which were glued so it wasnt a mess), and cared for me hands on as much as she could. They both dealt with it differently and 6 weeks later they are both fine with it. They will tell you "a robot went into Mommys belly to make it smaller!!"
  6. Sleeved: 3/13 Weight Loss: 39lbs Still struggling to get in all of my fluids. Not crazy about the taste of things I should be drinking but it gets easier everyday!
  7. I had the majority of pain the day after surgery. The gas went to my shoulders and made it nearly impossible for me to get out of bed without help. I also vomited from the morphine and they have me Tylenol thru my IV. I felt good and walked around my first night, second day was rough, and the next day I went home. I was sore for a couple of weeks and it wasn't a walk in the park, but many say they were fine with meds. I chose To only use pain meds at night so I could sleep. I think I did that for 6 nights and I haven't taken anything since. I had moments of regret - that's totally normal. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow, down 38lbs and convinced my sleeve saved my life. Good luck you'll do great!
  8. I havent found many CT sleevers on here. A few and they have been wonderful to me. I find that the support groups are few and far between and would love to develop something more!
  9. Friend me on there! I ate so much today I am in trouble! haha staceynicole82
  10. That barium test was the worst part of my entire surgery! I could barely stand while they took the xrays. And then they made me stand there for 15 minutes to do it again! Apparently two times was required from my surgeon. I was standing on a platform and they moved it without warning me - And with the tast of the liquid....I cried. It was horrible. Hope I never ever have to do that again!!!
  11. Did they have you do a barium swallow test? Hope you are feeling better soon!
  12. I experienced the worst pain in that same area. If you think about it - Thats the area that suffered the most trauma during surgery. I found that it helped to just hold that area when getting up or doing anything that bothered it. Apply some pressure - it helped me a lot. I didnt need anything like a pillow although some do use one. It's totally normal to be sore!
  13. I just threw up for the second night in a row for eating too fast. I was sleeved on 3/13 - 5 weeks out as of today. Im glad to know I'm not alone. And although I hate to throw up its different than I've ever experienced - it's just the rejected food and I feel brand new as soon as I'm done. I need to take things slower!!
  14. I will be 5 weeks out on Tuesday. I'm doing ok - I struggle to get in all the liquids and protein but I've decided to give myself a break. I can only do what I can do right? I stalled for a week and then the scale moved - I've lost 4 lbs in the last two weeks. I guess I can't complain. I am on regular food now, but I stick to thinks that are still quite soft and so far I'm ok. I've also had some acid issues - I get a burning sensation in the back of my throat and it's horrible! I've started light exercise and boy am I sore! I am really tight in my stomach area and its almost like I can feel my sleeve. Anyone else have this? I've also been super emotional - some days I am a mess!! Glad I found this post.....I'd like to hear how I measure up to everyone at their 5 week mark! :)
  15. I hate eating . I never imagined myself saying or thinking that. However, a few days ago I tried a Jax.....as in a puffy Cheeto.......WHOA. It's the little things that make me happy. I think I have had 4 to 6 pc's in all, but it was the best treat I've had in a long time!
  16. I keep reading posts of people eating salads and I wonder - When did you have your first salad? I am craving fresh food!! I am a month out and have been tolerating everything else really well. Thanks
  17. Hi Lizbeth! I am one month out today - It feels like it's been 6 months! haha You say you're having salad already? My NUT said to wait - but I REALLY want one! What do you put in your salads? and also sandwiches? I would be so happy with the both of those. I am craving tomatoes for some reason and just miss eating cold, crisp, and fresh food! I am struggling and I am not eating enough - I am afraid to hurt myself and to try different things. Thanks
  18. I'm probably not going to get it for a few more weeks in fear that I may hurt myself.....but I need to know that there is a treat of chinese in my future lol
  19. Before surgery, my favorite thing to eat was chinese. I am 4 weeks out and back to eating normal foods this week - no more mushies!!!! My problem is.....I really want Chinese. Anyone eat it? What do you have? I am not a huge fan of the Soups. Hmmmmm.......help!
  20. I woke up from surgery vomitting from the morphine. I told them to immediately stop giving it to me as I am sure it was doing more damage than good. I was then put on IV Tylenol and sent home 2 days later with a script for Liquid Tylenol. There is no reason to worry as long as you voice your concern with your surgeon.
  21. I will be 4 weeks out tomorrow and I still have no sensation of hunger. I do eat and the only sensation I know is full - I get full so quickly. I also sometimes hiccup and get a runny nose...is that strange (when im full)?
  22. If I drink too quickly or drink and then lay down I had the loudest gurgling I have ever heard! It is really crazy. It also happens sometimes when I am at work....and my if I am with a client its a little embarassing!
  23. It's deff the fluid/protein thing - I am in the same boat and need to get back on track!! I introduced mushy food last week and have been a little stomach sick since and have deffinitely been drinking less water.
  24. I am 4 weeks post-op as of tomorrow and have been stalled for the last week. I am going crazy!!! Come on!!! I know its all par for the course, but I still have no patience! Any ideas on how to get things moving again?
  25. I joined the gym and will start going tomorrow. Even if I start going for a half hour it's a start and I need a start. I sometimes can't figure out if I'm fatigued or depressed.
