Hair Loss And Biotin
Yes hair loss is very common after lapband surgery Biotin helps, but you need to take it consistently for a long time (some people say 6+ months) I have not heard of biotin chewables Taking a Multivitamin once a day will also help (those come in chewable versions) Make sure your getting adequate protein!! That will also help with hair loss

8 Days Post-Op, Gained About 5 Lbs, No Restriction, And Very Depressed
I met with my doctor one week post-op and he gave me the OK to eat whatever I could handle If my doctor says I am ready for solids then I trust him- please don't try to give me medical advise. I know you mean well, but I have a doctor. Thank you

Why Are People So Negative Regarding The Lapband?
I too, have not told anyone besides for my mom and sisters I find that people tend to get cheeky and will assume your "taking the easy way out" with WLS I didn't want anyone raining on my parade. I'm the type of person who cannot stand up for myself, so if someone would put me down for this decision it would kill me, Sure I wish I was a stronger more confident person- but i'm not there yet!

8 Days Post-Op, Gained About 5 Lbs, No Restriction, And Very Depressed
Thanks everyone How did you eat only a cup of food without any restriction? wasn't it hard? Also, when you say one cup of food, do you weigh 8 ounces? or do you just eat whatever can be physically pushed into a cup?

Back To Old Habits And Dont Know What To Do, Help??
Here's one that many people might not like, but i'll try anyway: GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP! I know that when I'm overtired i'm cranky which causes me to get irritated and eat. Also, when your overtired everything somehow seems like a mountain- including dieting! sleep helps us stay healthy and our bodies burn calories/build muscle/rejuvenate while we sleep So rest up and remember tomorrow is another day

8 Days Post-Op, Gained About 5 Lbs, No Restriction, And Very Depressed
Hey everyone! I guess I just need to vent I had my surgery a week ago from yesterday and everything went great! Between the preop diet and a few days post op I lost 14 pounds. Believe me, it wasn't easy. I started working out 3 days after surgery (doc said I can start whenever I feel up to it, and I was feeling fantastic after surgery), drank lots of Water, and made sure to drink only low cal liquids as best as i could on my post-op liquid phase (even though my doc said I can have high caloric liquids if I was hungry, like a milkshake or something, I resisted) Wednesday I stopped losing weight (despite trying VERY HARD to lose!) Yesterday my doc said I can eat regular foods and, without restriction, things were difficult, especially since last night was a family gathering with lots of food. Tonight I checked the scale and saw I was up 5 pounds from the 14 that I lost. I'm so depressed and sad Sort of feel like a failure too Any words of advice? Has anyone ever been in such a situation?

Why Are People So Negative Regarding The Lapband?
Well, my doctor himself explained to me that many doctors try to dissuade people out of the lapband because the big money maker is in the operating room. With Gastric Bypass/ Sleeve they operate, get paid, and never have to see the patient again. With Lapband, the doctor alots a lot of time to followups and fills and that's not where the big bucks are. Not sure if i would believe this if I hadn't heard it from my doc himself THIS is where some of the lap band negativity comes from in my opinion

Getting Restarted
This video was uploaded to youtube in 2010, so this does not appear to be a new way of placing the band. In his videos it seems like the band is practically touching the diaphragm

Getting Restarted
yes yes, I certainly will listen to my doc and follow his instructions to the best of my abilities, BUT, it still doesn't sit well with me that there is SO much opposing information. This isn't just a variance with, for instance, how long you should be on the pre-op diet for, or if you should be drinking carbonation or not, or if you should be on full liquids or not after a fill. This is a discrepancy with the most basic fundamentals/mechanisms of the Lap Band system!

Lapband And Wine Or Alcohol Once In Awhile?
Cool, that's interesting. I love hearing different ideas behind the carbonation/no carbonation rules

Getting Restarted
I'm suddenly feeling so queasy. Sort of like i'm suddenly out of the loop

Taste Affected?
Does this taste issue have anything to do with ketosis/bad breath? Maybe your tasting your smelly breath? (kinda like how everything tastes gross in the morning before you brush your teeth and take a swig of mouthwash)

Getting Restarted
I never thought soft drinks were anything besides carbonated beverages. I thought everything else can be classified as tea, juice, water, etc. (thanks for the clarification) Of course I will keep listening to my doc exclusively, but these aren't just variances- they are completely different schools of thought (sometimes opposing and contradictory) on how the band works. The very same band we all have. To me that's sort of unsettling

Working Out Hardcore And Starving
OMG!! I'm on my post op diet and also starving! And today I went on the treadmill for 50 minutes and burned 300 calories I was soooo hungry but i kept on chugging down water which i think helped

Getting Restarted
That depends on how small it actually is. This video makes it seem almost non existent. Others show it being bigger

Signs Of Being Hungry Or Full
Sorry for being troll-ish, but I wanted to bump this thread and see if anyone else can chime in. I was just banded 6 days ago and want as much insights as possible about full signs before I start eating real foods
-
Getting Restarted
Interesting. So that idea of a pouch filled with a cup of food above the band is really a bad thing because we are stretching our our esophagus? (sorry to ask such an idiotic question, but I'm confused now! I thought we were SUPPOSED to have some food sitting on top of the band)

True Results
As long as you meet all your insurance's stated requirements, they cannot really deny you it's up to true results to help you achieve the requirements (cardiac clearance, upper GI, 6 month supervised diet, etc etc)

Back To Old Habits And Dont Know What To Do, Help??
LIKE! I feel that the real reason we let ourselves stumble in the first place is because we're not honest with ourselves. Being honest with other people is easy. Being honest with ourselves is what's brutal. There is no room for white lies
