  1. That counts me out, I think. My plans are to be in Ireland the two weeks before, but we'll see. It may work out that I have to do a 'follow-up' up there around that time. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
  2. I'll be working in St Louis until late spring/early summer. It'd be great if I could just stayover one of those weekends and drive up to meet you guys!!
  3. I'm right there with ya Alex. Ever since my un-fill in June, I'm having a time with just this type of thing. My head tells me one thing, my actions do another. I think I need to detox from those foods that are NOT my friend.
  4. lol, that's quite allright. we're glad to have ya! please let us know how your story progresses!
  5. Welcome Spooter! Please locate the 'Introductions' section of this forum and tell us all a bit about yourself and how you come to find us. Welcome and congrats on your upcoming new beginning!
  6. Sounds like you're doing well, William!! Congrats on your weight loss!! Who is your Dr?
  7. Yea. I've heard the Nioxin Shampoos are recommended by some of the docs. Personally, I went and got myself a perm. I have lost quite a bit, but I'm a strange animal. When I get a perm, it's like a Vitamin for my hair. I don't lose as much and it grows much faster. Some people have the opposite effect - such as breakage etc, but more often than not, that is due to the type of perm used and the technique used to put it in. If I have a perm, I use alot more chemicals, such as conditioners, spray leave-in treatment, then repair mousses or gels etc. Left straight, I can't use all these things due to my hair being so fine and thin to begin with. Maybe this is an option?
  8. Good idea, Babs. Like you, I've never been plagued with the pb'ing issue either. I am more likely to stretch my pouch, due to the LACK of this problem.
  9. Did you say you are already using Nioxin shampoos? I'm really sorry you didn't get any answers that might have lead you in the right direction.
  10. Boy! Is that ever true. I never EVER thought I'd be saying my butt is too boney! But when I ride my bikes. YIKES!
  11. Not long now!! I hope you're getting all your liquids, Gas-X, etc to be ready when you get home!
  12. What a great way to start the new year!! Congratulations!
  13. Do you notice any restriction? 1cc sounds rather small for a Vanguard band. I hope it makes a difference for you! Good luck!
  14. Yes, Michelle. That was my first thought too.
  15. Yikes. That's pretty hostile from someone who doesn't know these people at all. Some people don't have thousands of dollars OR insurance. MANY mexican doctors are totally reliable and far better doctors than any amount of money can pay for in the states. My goodness! These people were trying to do all they knew to do, which was seek help for their obesity with whatever resources they may or may not have had. In ANY country a man's word should be worth something.
  16. I think subconsciously, you're always aware it's there, however, yes, not too far off, you'll forget it's even there. Then, you'll take one bite too many or one bite too big and it will remind you.

Great job Audrey!! You're almost there!!
  18. Keith Terry E-mail Address(es): kctt1@cox.net This is who sent me the blurb about having an electronic version until they can get the books shipped.
  19. Roll call, ladies. Where are you and how are you doing??
  20. What's up girl?? Where are you??
  21. People often fall off the wagon. The trick to success with your band is that you are determined enough to get back on the wagon. So you messed up one day. OK. Next day starts back 'doing the right thing'. If you totally shuck your doctors orders, you may surely pay for that in lack of weight loss or band complications. If you are really serious about wanting to lose weight, you will have to make the changes necessary to allow the band to work for you. This includes a 6 week healing phase to allow you stomach NOT to grind and churn to digest harder foods. A gradual return to solids including hard Proteins, not soft foods that allow more calories to slide by your band, exercise at least 30 minutes 3/5 days a week and Water, water, water. Please be kind to yourself and your band. The stomach 'growlies' are inevitable, but don't necessarily mean you are starving. Pretty soon, they subside and you can get your mind on other things, like riding a bike or shopping for hours because you've lost enough that you can walk for hours. Getting your head in the right place is tough, we can all agree with that, but it will come, if you meet it halfway! Good luck to you!
  22. I sent them an email and told them either send my book or credit my account. They sent me an email on 11/29 with this url blocked::http://www.mwpmedia, which i could not use to an 'electronic copy - until they could get the books out. well, as you see, it is 'blocked' so this never worked for me.
  23. I've heard Kaiser doesn't pay anything for any weight loss surgery. This may not be written in stone, but your starting place would be to contact them and ask. From what I've heard, Dr. Cirangle is probably the best Dr and lowest rate in the bay area, with the best follow up. His patients gush over him all the time. Can't beat that kind of admiration. Good luck to you!

This is an excerpt from this person's website, who says she is very lucky with fills for her midband. Maybe she can point you in the right direction. "Patients banded out of the USA may have a hard time finding a fill doctor. This could be made even more difficult if they do not have an FDA-approved band, and currently the only band that IS approved is the Inamed Lap-band. Bandsters are very lucky in my local area, because we have many options for after-care - radiologists who will do fills, surgeons who will see patients banded out of the country, etc. But you may not be so lucky, so do your research FIRST before flying anywhere for surgery! http://www.sarinaonline.net/page6.html ""
