Day 15 on my journey - Hello Mushies
Thank you so much for the encouragement, and your right. It is the taste and the flavor that we crave. I learned that the other night when I just sucked on a small peice of Turkey. I was so satisfied afterwards. I was surprised at how good it tasted in the blender with the green beans. It taste the same minus the texture, so Im satisfied. One thing I am paying more attention to is the carb and calorie count. I am also trying to get the labels that say fat free, Same food, good eating, just modified with smaller portions. I pray its always this easy.

vitamins
Good morning, I take gummies for my vitamins and calcium. They wont get stuck as long as you chew them really well. Honestly, I look forward to them everyday like a treat so I think its gonna be gummies from here on out.

it seemed like I gained 2 but it keeps coming and going. Honestly, it scared me into thinking this band wouldnt work, like my body has hit a plateau and is accustomed to where I am (only 17 pounds lighter) so is this where the 1-2 pound per week weight loss starts?

Yes, I have for the most oart, Ive had egg salad, chicken salad (pureed chicken), maryland crab Soup liquified, and turkey wings and green Beans (blended), All so tasty with no starches. I used low fat mayo for the sides, and I used a little creamy ceaser dressing (1 gram of carb) for the chicken salad. It all taste so good so I dont feel like im missing out, except when I heat up spagetti or gave my kids some pizza, that just seem to call me, so I will be trying your recipe to curb those cravings for italian food.

Day 15 on my journey - Hello Mushies
Okay, I was seriously nervous about pureed foods b.k.a "mushies". I can honestly say that I went from barely able to sip 64 ounces slowly to getting hungry, wanting to lick everything, and thinking that I can eat the way I used to on Monday. I knew that I would be able to start mushies on Tuesday, but I was a bit scared not knowing what that meant. So at midnight I went to the supermarkets from some acceptable products and at 1 am, I was just a boiling and a blending fool at this point. In addition to seasoning the turkey wings for my families dinner the next night. I made egg salad, which would be my breakfast and chicken salad for my lunch and it was so damn tasty. The next day I also brought some Maryland Crab Soup which is like having tasty vegetable soup with crab meat. I blended it and it lost no flavor...yum. Last night, I blended the turkey wings and string beans I prepared for my favor and it was so damn delicious. Okay so I got all this tasty food and cant wait to eat, but imagine my surprise when I go to eat and after placing a few tips in my mouth I am full! WTF? I guess that is what the band does....right?! But no matter how much I read the message boards it didnt prepared me for this actual full feeling, its crazy. Its like you put a spoonful in your mouth and as soon as you get into it a switch goes off and your full in full effect. Its a bitter sweet feeling!

Update*** so far, so damn good! Okay, I was seriously nervous about pureed foods b.k.a "mushies". I have a TMI question...
I had a boil right before surgery. I had to get it lanced. Consider what you are eating since you been dieting and also what products you are using. My mother would get them from tomatoes and tomato based products. I would get them in my armpits when I changed deodorant. Also, corn starch works wonders for the under belly.

Has anyone cheated during the pre op diet????
I ate regular foods until 24 prior to surgery, then clear liquids, then nothing after midnight. If your daughter suggest it try to stick with it, but if you cheated a little before it doesnt mean the surgery cant be done at all.

Thank you so much, this helps alot. Its funny because I dont even know if I cant eat foods yet, I just know that smells are getting to me and making me hungry. On the outside I feel like I may be able to eat like I used to, but my insides may say something different. I guess this is what you go through as you adjust to this new lifestyle.

Appetite's back; normal?
I have realized how important drinking is because it keeps me feeling full, at least for a little while. This is harder than I thought. I just need to get the hang of it I guess. I will keep you posted.

Appetite's back; normal?
Hello everyone, I am 9 days post op and just getting my appetite back. I'm scared. I have to do 10 days liquid :3 days clear and 7 days full. Watery Cream of wheat/oatmeal is on my my approved list. Ive been eating a half cup of cream of wheat, but today I had a protein shake for breakfast, sugar free jello for lunch and now almost a cup of cream of wheat ( 1% milk 2 packs of splenda) for dinner. Is this normal, or too much too soon. I am starting to want food more and Im just a little nervous. Please share!

Food Funeral
Wow, we all have so much in common. I love the Olive Garden and I knew I would miss the bread sticks the most, but we will meet again later on down the road. I also went to Outback, for the first time actually, to have a farewell slab of ribs. And my last meal (at least that's how I felt at the time) salmon stuffed with crab imperial, shrimp and scallop. I ate so much it made me sick. I over did it in my final days pre band because I never thought I would enjoy food again. However, in my 1 week of banding Ive learned that when you are feeling tight and full there is no desire for those foods and you do learn how to appreciate the small stuff. Cream of Wheat was on my list of Full Liquids, but I was advised that it had to be watery. I grimaced at the thought because since I was 4 years old the best part of it for me has been the lumps. I could damn near eat it with a fork it would be so thick. I also used sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and sugar for the sweetest creamiest treat you can have in the winter (Don't judge me, that's why I had to get banded). So imagine the horror when I had to replace all that goodness with 1% milk and 2 packs of splenda so thin I could barely taste a grain. BUT... when I tasted it, it was the same to be as before and I didnt want to stop, except I was full at 1/4 cup. The point is that you will be surprised at how quickly you begin to see food differently.

Pureed foods
I am no one to give advice because I'm not there yet, but the nurse in my Dr's office said a patient told her that the thought of pureed made her sick until she had some Chili in the blender pureed. I don't know if its good or not, but I'm looking forward to going to Wendy's for a small cup to try it out pureed.

Days 6 and 7 on my journey- Its the little things...
This one is going to be short and sweet. I feel good and hopeful. After my trip to the hospital and my band was loosened, gas started moving and I am doing so much better. Thank you Jesus! I am down 12 pounds and I am starting to get a mild appetite back. Thankfully once I drink something I am satisfied. After following LBT for the past 2 weeks, I find it amazing that so many people in the world have gone through the same things (in different ways) we dont know one another, yet we can all relate to one another. The best part is that somehow someway we all wound up here together to meet at the same time. If this was a different time and place in our life, just imagine how different our journeys may have been if we didnt have information and support at our fingertips. Sometimes its just the little things that make us just sit back and thank God because he has a divine way of doing things. The reason I know its God, it because there is no one or nothing else that could have brought be through what I have been through and yet I came out smiling. Thank you Jesus!

SO close I can taste it....

Lump In the thoat
Call your doctor, please! After I had my surgery I had terrible gas pains, and everyone said it was normal. Not their fault, it was based on their personal experience. I knew it wasn't right. The last thing I thought it could be was restriction, right? WRONG! There was fluid in my band after surgery. . My Doctor also said their could be air in the band as well. I had the fluid removed and still had to spend 10 hours in the ER! It was worth it because I feel better. I am not saying this is the case with you, but whatever it is, don't rely on the forum, call your doctor!
